I purchased a Husqvarna 125B blower summer of 2012 which came with a two year warranty.  I was pleased with the performance of this blower for almost a year.  Eleven months later I encountered problems starting this unit.  It was apparent that the prime bulb was not feeding fuel from the tank to the carborator.  This blower was well kept and taken care of like all of my power garden tools.  I took it to the only local authorized Husqvarna dealer in our small city.  With out so much as placing a tool on the blower the owner/operator of this business informed me damage was caused by "bad gas."

After a lengthy discussion with him, in which I explained how none of my other gasoline power tools experienced any problems running on the same gasoline, I was asked to leave.  I was told by the owner/operator if I didn't like his decision I could take my blower back to Lowe's where I purchased it from.  I contacted Husquarna support and was I surprised.  They informed me that their warranty did not cover damage caused by bad fuel.

I once again explained in great detail how the loss in fuel pressure to the prime bulb was not caused by stale gasoline and how the technician at their authorized service center did not even remove one screw from this unit.  I told the Husqvarna support tech. that if she did not have the authority to authorize a return or repair of my blower I wanted to be transferred to her supervisor.  I was told that I would receive a call back from someone in a higher level position.  Two days latter I received the call.  Back to step one.  His response was almost identical to the initial tech. that I spoke with.

In plain Englixh, we're not doing any warranty work on your blower.  In a last ditch effort I took my Husqvarna back to Lowe's to see if there was somewhere they could send it for repair.  The Lowe's associate looked at my receipt and said, "You have had this less than a year and we will replace it for you."  As it turned out they did not have that model in stock and gave me a full refund.  Looks like Husqvarna got their just do, but I will never purchase another Husqvarna product again.  I took my $160 and purchased an Echo blower from an American company.

Please don't make your own facts up!

I heard of not reading between the lines, but looks like you didn't read THE lines and added your own facts.  I never said I used "last year’s gas" in my report.  I said in my report "I once again explained how the loss in fuel pressure to the prime bulb was not caused by stale gas.  You state that stale gas would clog the fuel system.  Well in this case the fuel line to and from the prime bulb was wide open and only air was passing through.  Not a sign of clogging or gumming.  More likely a sign of a damaged or disconnected line.

This could have been determined by some fairly simple diagnostics.  I also stated that this blower was well kept and taken care of like all of my power garden tools.  Now here is where you could have read between the lines because I didn't think for most people I needed to spell it out.  Well kept and taken care of means just that, to include but not limited to, routine maintenance and use of fresh gasoline of 89 octane ethanol free.

My lawn tractor, edger, trimmer, and chainsaw are all running fine since last June when I experienced this problem.  I just retired my lawn tractor in December that I have had since 1999 with no engine repairs, plastic body parts and electrical system finally deteriorating.  Gas may become stale in 30 to 90 days.  This first stage is a loss of power due to evaporation of volatile substances but usually does not cause damage.  Second stage is oxidation causing the gas to turn dark in color, usually in gas stored more than 90 days, more loss of power or even stalling.  And finally contamination, usually condensation and substances that separate from the gas that collects in the storage container or tank which will cause damage to engine parts.

This usually will take upwards of six months.  Allow me to introduce one more fact that the Husqvarna service tech. was aware of; the gas in this particular blower was not more than two weeks old. With my background as a service technician and jet engine mechanic it might just qualify me to recognize bad gas even if it was only two weeks old.  Finally I hope no one follows your advice to drain and run your engine till it stops before storing it.  If they do they will create a KNOWN problem that causes damage to gaskets and seals.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

If it indeed had "bad gas" all they would need to do was look in the gas tank...

"bad gas" is caused by gas stored too long or left in the tank for over a couple of months.  The gas becomes stringy and sticky as it ages and plugs up just about anything.  If you don't drain the gas and run the engine until it stops before storing it, you WILL have trouble.  If you use the gas left in the can next year, you will also have trouble.  The best way to avoid this KNOWN problem is to add a gas additive like Sta-Bil or similar to the can when you buy gas.  1 ounce of the treatment takes care of 2.5 gallons of gas in is relatively inexpensive. I think Lowe's just got the problem YOU created.

And yes, the gummy fuel will affect the fuel distribution.  Keep doing what you're doing and your next gas powered item willl have the same kinds of problems.

The company was right to deny your repair request. No Ripoff here.
