IC System has been telephoning my home telephone number daily (2-3 times a day).  They never leave a message when the answering machine comes on.  The only reason I know they have called is by caller id.

When I finally answered they asked to speak to my ex-husband.  I explained that he had not resided or had the telephone number for over 20 years.  They asked if I had a telephone number for him, which I do not.  I advised them of same and they again asked to speak with him.  Again, I stated I didn't know where he was.  Very rudely they asked me to take a message and relay it to him.  I explained again that I have had no contact with him and to remove my telephone number.

The following day I received another call and advised them again he doesn't reside here or have this telephone number and they rudely said that I would have to take a message.  I informed them that I would not take a message and to remove my telephone number from their system.  I was told that this is the number he gave, which I doubt seriously he even remembers the telephone number.

If I had an address I would write them a certified letter to advise them that I consider this harrassment, but with no address I am unable to stop the calls.  If anyone has a physical address I would appreciate receiving it so I can write said letter and have verification that they have received it and then I would be able to pursue other avenues.

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

just write a letter

AUTHOR: Kevin - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, December 27, 2009

Hello,

First, the messages.  IC System is not permitted to tell you the purpose of their call until they can verify they are talking to the right person (i.e. your ex-husband).  Unfortunately, in your case, they are being quite rude and not removing your number.

Second, to get them to stop calling just write a letter requesting that they "cease communication" to your address and phone number.  The address for IC System according to their website is the same as when I worked there several years ago.

IC System
444 Highway 96
St. Paul, MN 55127

It is frustrating to have to take these steps but send the request in writing and use certified mail.  Once they receive your request they are required by law to cease communication, but the request must be in writing.  If they call in the meantime, simply end the call and don't waste your time.  Once they get your letter the calls will stop.

This is the kind of thing that got me out of the business after only six months.  I hope this is a short lived problem.

Cease and desist

AUTHOR: Tim - (U.S.A.)

You can probably google the company and come up with an address, but whether or not that would be a good address is another story.

What I do when collectors call, after their done with their initial spiel, is ask them for the address where cease and desist letters should be sent. They are required to give you this information.

Then send a letter demanding that they cease and desist all further communications with you, at your phone number or address, regarding any accounts of your ex-husbands. Keep a copy for yourself, and go with certified mail if you want to be extra sure of things.

This should do the trick although, admittedly, it is much more than you should have to do in the first place. As soon as you told them that you didn't have any contact information they should have left you alone.

Best of luck!
