3 months ago I discovered a charge of $16.48 on my ATT bill. I called ATT and got the number for ILD Teleservices who credited my account. The next month there was a charge for $8.24 from ILD Teleservices. I called ATT and was told there was nothing they could do to prevent these 3rd party bills. I called ILD and asked to block all charges coming from anyone they represented and to credit my account. This month there was another ILD charge of $8.24 and ATT did some research and discovered I had been having these charges since Feb. 07.

I called ILD and got a rude operator who said there was nothing they could do, even though I had been told the previous month that they could block all services from the 300 clients they represent.

I called ATT and got a very helpful person when I told them I had filed an FCC complaint, was writing my congresswoman, and was writing the attorney general of California. He said I would get a call the next Monday.

On Monday I got a call from a person from YPD who said my number had been registered for long distance service in association with my e-mail address. I reviewed the above and said that I felt the registration was in error or fradualent. He said he would cancel the service but could not refund the charges I had incurred since Feb. 07.

I received an e-mail saying the registration for the service provided by YPD has been cancelled and hope that my ATT bill next month does not have any charges from ILD Teleservices.

It appears that such registration can take place when you are on the net and you examine a "free" or "special" offer from someone. Unless you click on an information button and read the fine print you won't even know that you have gotten a kind of camoflaged registration created. And if the company bills through ILD Teleservices you won't see the actual company on your ATT bill and you can only get to the source of the charge by calling ILD Teleservices
to find contact information for the billing company.

There are probably hundreds or thousands of others (like me) who have not discovered this little charge on their phone bill and continue to pay for a service that they do not use and do not want.

This semi-hidden billing practice should be prohibited and companies like YPD should be required to send a confirmation message to a subscriber and receive a confirmation before they can register a customer. Further, companies like ILD Teleservices should be required to submit the contact information for charges that they accumulate and bill to ATT so that ATT can put that detailed information in the bill they create.

Hi Leonard,

We're glad that your issue was handled.

Just like BillMeLater, PayPal, eBillMe and other no credit card required payment choices, ILD Teleservices gives merchants a way to offer you an alternative method to pay when you want to buy certain services online or over the phone. ILD is a regulated payment processor, so we are required to be compliant with Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standards requirements, which is designed to make sure ALL companies that process, store or transmit payment information maintain a secure environment. ILD works with the phone companies, third party validation providers, and other institutions to keep phone bill transactions safe and our purchase assurance on phone billed charges is part of this program.

If you ever feel like you've been charged in error, please contact us at askild@ildmail.com, call us at (800) 953-7765 or visit our help center online at ILDteleservices.com.

Best,
Sandra
