It started great with the sales end of things (early April). However, things took a turn for the worse afterwards. Steve came by to measure the windows with his installer but forgot his folder he had on us. My wife was home with the kids and she handed him OUR copy of the estimate and paperwork. They went over the measurements but then he never gave back our copy. When my wife realize he had our copy, she called the office and left a message. We got no response for a couple of days (still April). I called *****, and he apologized. He was busy and asked if sending a picture message would work (we are on the opposite side of town from most of his work). I said fine as long as it was clear. No text or picture message came through. A few days later, we called the office and got a hold of his wife. She said she would e-mail a scanned copy of their estimate (now in May). No e-mail and we checked all of our junk and spam folders. Called back to the office and left a message and got no response. Also e-mailed and got no response Now this is where it gets difficult.

***** had some medical issues (May into June), which we understand, things happen in life. What my wife and I won't tolerate is a lack of professionalism. We were never told (and we didn't need to know all the details; a simple call stating "*****'s very sick and we are in a holding pattern until he gets better" would have held us over), and our repeated calls to *****'s cell and to the office were not returned. It was not until after he was out of the hospital that we found out he was down for almost 45 days. The response we got was only after we threatened to dispute our down payment charges and go elsewhere. So ***** calls me to tell me the windows are in (early June)and the installer wants to start on a Saturday, which was just under 2 weeks out (late June). He also asked if we had indoor space to store the windows which would be dropped off shortly before the work. We had plans for that weekend but adjusted for this and cleared space in our garage. We then had no contact from ***** or his company for those 2 weeks.

Friday came and went with no call and no delivery. Finally a call from the office came Monday after we left a few (angry) messages. *****'s wife said the weather destroyed their schedule and they would be out right after the holiday weekend. No news and no show that Monday. Again it was my wife and I initiating contact and again weather was blamed and it was pushed back to that Thursday. Wednesday night I get a call from ***** that his installer is loading up the door but he is not willing to do anything else because he is going on vacation for a week after the door is done. On top of that, they found out the biggest window in our order is cracked and it will take 2 weeks on a rush re-order.

So I was faced with an install of a door that week, some windows a week later, and maybe the last windows another week after that. My wife an I decided at that point we had had enough. We called ***** and got his wife and told her that we were done and wanted our money back. She said she would call back that night to go over how we wanted to do the refund. NO call that night . So I called ***** Thursday morning and left a message stating they had until Friday evening to settle with us. My wife called the office and left the same message. I then sent an e-mail that said the same thing. No contact and it is now 2 days after the deadline. Also note that we never received our copy of the estimate back.

I have since been contacted by multiple people that Steve has done them wrong. (homeowners and subcontractors)

Stay away.

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company

Windows To be Installed

AUTHOR: Indiana Renovation Concepts - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 27, 2016

We are a A rated company on Angie's List and A rating with the BBB. The issue with this homeowner happened 2 1/2 yrs ago. There are several instances that they are not clear on such as dates and times and conversations between the company and them.  This is a small family owned business, not a big Company that has hundreds of emplyees. The owner was in the hospital with major health issues and required multiple surgeries, and readmitted to the hospital several times, which he almost lost his life do to the complications.

There is several inconsistancies in the story that was told. One of the things that they failed to tell you is that they did receive their deposit back. That we had already paid for all of the wondows and door, these are non returnable And that is money that we are not getting refunded back. That they were called on several occations about there project. That we tried to give them several different options for installation and yet they refused and wanted our installer to work over the holiday weekend, even though his time off had been scheduled months prior.  That it was never our intention for the owner to get deathly ill and be hospitalized for lengthly periods of time. That they were notified several times with updates about him being sick and the status of their windows and the installation.

At this point and time we have considered the issue resolved just like the one and only complaint with the BBB from the same client.

We as a company are not perfect and never claimed to be. While there is complaints and issues with every business we strive very hard to give all of our clients a satifactory job and meet and exceed all of their expectations. Unfortunetly you can not please everyone all of the time. Even in life and death situations.

As for the homeowner being contacted by others we as a company do not give out any of our clients personal information. And neither does the other credited business that they filed a complaint with 2 1/2 yrs ago. Again this issues has been resolved. Not sure why it is showing up on here 2 1/2 yrs later.
