Today, I learned that All Used Car Dealers are LIARS. Especially those who say they are not. At Integrity Auto I was informed that their minimum down payment was $ 500.00, that appearently wasn't good enough, they wanted an additional $ 300.00 in two weeks. And not for the car of my dreams, they showed me a 12 year old mini van with substantial hail damage, that was what was in my range based on my income, not wat is stated in there commercials.Looking through the lot, there were no prices on any of the vehicles. So WHO decides what I can afford? There was a sticker on the window that it was sold "as is" yet the sales person "said" it would be covered under the "heart land warranty" even though the sticker stated that verbal statements were void. Yet it was what they wanted to sell me, based on my income of what someone there decided I could afford and what a great price, only $ 163.00 every two weeks for only 36 months, so only $ 12,536.00 for a 12 year old hail damaged vehicle, with no warranty. I checked in the mirror and was not wearing a FOOL sign, yet I was foolishly hoping that maybe this company was different, live and learn, and don't believe a word that these people say.Their commercials state that they don't use payment devices, because they "trust" their customers, yet were not willing to accept a check for the down payment, or for the bi-weekly payments either, some trust. Don't piss down my back and tell me its raining, and don't lie to me either. If I cost you even one victim, it was worth the time and effort to write this.

Facts

AUTHOR: Integrity Auto Finance - ()

Federal Law mandates that every vehicle displayed for sale must be listed as "As Is No Warranty" or "Warranty Included". Since ours is not a "factory warranty", it's a service warranty (check with the State of Oklahoma for the difference), our vehicles must be listed "As Is No Warranty". The Heartland Service Plan is an optional and additional charge.  Any time you purchase a vehicle, unless paying cash, there is going to be a finance charge and depending on what your credit score or profile is it is going to cost you money to borrow the money. If you have bad credit it is going to cost you more money than if you have good credit and the more money you put down the less it costs you in the long run. We strive to make sure you are going to be able to afford the vehicle that you are looking at, we have a limit of 25% of a persons net income for payments and try not to exceed 20%, in other words you dictate what you can afford. When buying a vehicle you get what you pay for, a vehicle that has minor hail damage is going to be less expensive than one that has no hail damage. We strive to get the best running vehicles in our segment of the market while keeping the prices as competitive as possible, some customers don't care if the vehicle isn't perfect looking as long as it runs as it should while some like the really nice looking vehicles and are willing to pay the premium price. It is our company policy not to accept checks for down payments because we have had too may bad checks written to us, however there is no policy that the finance company has that says they don't accept checks unless they are written a bad check or you have a history of writing bad checks as found in your credit file. Our commercials state that we don't have payment devices, and we don't, and have payments that fit your budget and it sounds like that is what you were offered. It appears to me that you were actually told the truth and didn't want to believe it. Hopefully you found the vehicle that fit your needs and budget.

The only RipOff..

I was informed that their minimum down payment was $ 500.00, that appearently wasn't good enough, they wanted an additional $ 300.00 in two weeks

- The MINIMUM was $500...they are right..because from you they wanted $800.  Now, if you came here and said they only wanted a $200 downpayment you could legitimatly call that a lie.

So WHO decides what I can afford?

- Well YOU are supposed to be able to do that, but since you obviously haven't been able to handle credit in the past(regardless of the reason).  So as a result the bank needs to step in and make that decision.  Oh and yes they even do that to people with great credit, the only difference is that the people with great credit already know what they can afford and don't try to get a car that is well beyond their means.  So when it comes to the bank there is usually not a problem.

Their commercials state that they don't use payment devices, because they "trust" their customers, yet were not willing to accept a check for the down payment, or for the bi-weekly payments either, some trust

- Yea, the last time I checked a payment device attached to their car is not the same as a check.  There is only so much trust to go around.  Your past history wasn't involving stealing cars, it was probably delinquent accounts and/or bad checks.   So you have a specific level of trust.  After all you may totally trust a person arrested for a DUI to mow your lawn, but I doubt you would trust that same person to drive your kids to/from school.

Look, the fact is that there are some dealers that are less than honest, and who knows if these people are or not.  So you must keep on your toes to make sure you aren't getting Ripped Off.  But you also have to have a dose of reality, such as when they say the minimum down payment is $500, don't complain about having to put down a $800 down payment.  Also, realize that because of your credit history, you are going to be paying a huge Interest Rate, so forget about getting the car of your dreams right now unless you have enough money to pay for it outright.  Just go for a decent car that is in your budget and you can make payments on.  This will improve your credit, and the next car can be better.
