Intoxaloc consumer safety technology RIPPED OFF POOR COMMUNICATION POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE VERY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL Des Moines Iowa

Where do i begin?  back in 2011 i recieved my first DUI (in wisconsin)  and was never ordered the ignition interlock device, due to i paid all my fines and damages. In 2012 i missed one payment on my payment plan at the court house and my license was suspended. I paid that off and re-instated my licesnse $200 and on the back (which i was NEVER told about by the DMV) said i must have ignition interlock installed for 1 year until January of 2013. Also, I was pulled over for no seatbealt prior to that and was NEVER asked by the police officer about the IID.

Well, in July of 2012 I was driving on the interstate headed home from work when i got pulled over by a state trooper for not having a front license plate. He ran my license and had told me that I was required to have the IID installed. He continued to give me a ticket with a court date. 

I attended my court date and pleaded NOT GUILTY and continued with a public defender and continued to keep going to court claiming my innocence until I finally gave up and installed the IID through intoxaloc out of Des Moines, Iowa. On my last court date I had argued with the judge and my public defender that I was no longer required to have the IID since it was now passed the year date of January 2013 as stated on the back of my licence. The judge insisted i still needed to have it for 1year. 

Okay, so no biggie, I had it installed and was ready to do my sentance and get it done with. Well, in July of 2013, our Land Rover (car with IID in it) had broken down, and we had ordered a new transmission through a company to where it could take weeks or couple months to get it in, due to a luxuary vehicle. Anyways, as soon as the truck had broken down, i called intoxaloc to let them know that i couldnt order the re-calibration unit because the truck did not run at this time. I do not remember who i spoke to,(( eldery lady, younger female, and a male, on three different occasions) but I was indeed told, that would be ok and to just keep calling with an update. Which I did.I even called the sheriffs dept and left a vm making sure I was ok and no warrant would be issued. I was told no warrants were issued and i was ok by the receptionist, then transferred to leave a vm. Well, come to find out when we recieved our new transmission, I called intoxaloc to set up a re-calibration. I was then transferred to 2 different females who both stated they were my case manager. 

The fist lady was a "Margarita" yes thats right. I was told that my IID was suspended, and that I was NOT eligable for re-instatement, due to i failed to comply with their rules. I was hysterical, crying and stressed out. Remind you this has been a disaster all throughout the whole process. I was then told to "hold on" and the woman transferred me to a Mandy, who told me that theres nothing that they could do for me. I pleaded and pleaded with her, and she had put me on hold as she contacted her boss ( whom she and every other employee i talked to told me they could not transfer me too because Mandy was the only person who could help me at ex:208) Mandy then told me that i had a balance that I needed to pay before she could help me. Yes, thats right. LOL so as i Paid $300 some odd dollars I was still told that they would contact me the next day to let me know when a new calibration would be sent out, AND thats "IF" I qualified for it. YEP so i gambled right there. What other choice did I have? really.

So, the next day comes and no phone call. So i call them back and dial in Mandys ext: 208 and talk to her. She had told me that i needed to pay the rest of the balance due with a reactivation fee, omg yes i was so furious as i struggled the day before to come up with the $300 and odd some dollars, so shes Telling me its ANOTHER $300-$400 then ill be good. Mandy also stated if i did not have it by that day, that they could not accept me back into the IID program that i would FAIL. OMG so im so furious at this point, because i have NO MORE MONEY as we just bought new transmission, and paid INTOXALOC the day before just to be told i owed more $$$!!!!!! I demanded to talk to someone higher up and Mandy told me shes the only person who could help me. So unprofessional at this point, as i been doing cusotmer service since i was 16! 

So, i hung up on her as i was so distraught and upset to the point i was about to admit myself into the hospital. i have two children and just had a baby. so yes 3 children total. I came up with the money from borrowing it form my babies father. I called back and talked with a different lady who took the payment and told me i would recieve IID recalibration in couple days to the automotive company who installs it here in Beloit. 

Well, Mandy calls me back to tell me that I NEVER WAS REQUIRED TO HAVE IT from the gecko, as she had contacted the DMV. LOL omg!!! i was even more hysterical at this point! SERIOUSLY so i asked to have ALL that money re-funded back to me and she said that she couldnt do that. Oh WAIT! WAIT! WAIT!  I was livid. As i struggled to pay them over $700 in two days and now to be told that i NVER WAS REQUIRED TO HAVE IT INSTALLED, and told they could NOT re-fund me my moneyI back?! 

So, my bf tried to dispute the transactions with his bank. i recieved a bill form intoxaloc for $3.00 LOL yes $3.00 and they have been harrassing me non stop calling and leaving voice mails. I did indeed contact my family lawyer and we are currently trying to take them to court. the harrassing hasnt stopped any at all. I am now recieving voicemails saying i owe them money and must pay it or their taking legal actions. well.....GO AHEAD! 

the customer service is beyond the worse i have ever experienced with a company. I also have recordings of the conversations after the first transcation, because right then i knew my intuition was right and something illegal was taking place. It felt like a complete scam. 

I did go to the DMV and called the headquarters in madison,wi to be told that i was able to drive and WAS NOT required the IID at all as of January of 2013, as I had argued with te judge and public defender. The whole LAW of 1st offense operation while intoxicated is a MESS! neither the company intoxaloc is on board or the state of wisconsin. I do not wish any of this onto anyone. 

May I also state that total amount should have been around $900 total for 1 whole year, as i PAID neraly that in two days without any reason why i had to. Mandy would NOT give out that information to me. This is a SCAM!  first off its their job right to look into the DMV first, to see if im required to have the IID installed right? nope they didnt, but they took down ALL my info and payment of $200+ for their first transaction before the IID was installed. Hopefully we can get a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT GOING.
