First off I am not going to get into any sort of debate if using these Gas Chambers is ethical or not.  But I will say that in principle I think that the decision to end this practice is a good thing.

However, you appear to be nothing more than a "Busy Body" and you are what gives these type of organizations a bad name.   I do have to say that I am very surprised that you are using not only a Computer but the Internet.  I kind of imagined you having a "love-in" and eating granola in your 1970's pollution machine, that you refuse to get rid of because the new cars are "evil" even though they produce only a fraction of pollution that even cars 20 years ago did.

I can also be fairly certain that you are NOT a person who has the authority to speak for the organization you say you represent or you would not have filed the report under "Anonymous"..you would have at least put the name of the organization, a contact number, and probably at least your first name.

I actually looked this "law" up as I didn't know that Shelters had this sort of practice.  However, I found a few very interesting things.   First this "law" as you called it was really nothing more than a memo sent out by the Veterinary Divison of the NC Agriculture Department.  Now, you were right in that this MEMO was issued just a few days ago.  But what you failed to mention in your "RipOff" is that the shelters have until February 15th to switch over to a more humane method.

Then we get to your phone call.  Just based on how you wrote this I bet it went something like this

..."Hello, this is blah blah from ABC Animal Activists and I want to find out if you are still using your killing machine..er I mean Gas Chamber, even though the State told you 5 days ago you must stop using it......

(waiting for a response).

Oh you don't want to answer that..why not you mean you are still using your killing machine?

.....

Who the **ll am I...It doesn't matter who I am..I represent those poor defenseless animals and you are breaking the law in killing illegally.

Bet I am pretty close, and even though it may not be word for word I somehow have a feeling that was your attitude.  Where yes, I bet the director was 100% justified in their response and nothing you have shown here shows that that attitude carries over to how they care for the animals.

Also, if she really didn't want to answer you she could have just refused to take the call right?  Or did you perhaps use some "false pretense" and then basically blindsided her with your questions?

I'll close with this.  If you REALLY care about the animals why are you allowing any killing?  Why don't you take the responsibility and adopt(or at least foster) any animal that is in danger of being killed or is that just too much effort where you are all talk and no action?  Or how about going after the cause...irrresponsible pet owners? 

Or let me ask you this...how much money/time/supplies have you given to "No Kill" shelters?
