On 9/25/2013, I received a call from Island Rays with a promise of 2 round-trip tickets plus a 5 day cruise to the caribbean for attending their hour long seminar at a Richmond VA hotel.  I was advised they were a new travel agency opening in the area and were trying to get established by this special offer.  My husband and I agreed to go and hear their presentation.  We went to the early presentation at 5:30pm and didn't leave the hotel until after 10:30pm

It turns out they were marketing Saver Express as a vacation club.  "Sonny", who claimed he was an executive with Saver Express, said he didn't normally do the presentation.  He gave a persuasive presentation for their Membership.  Prices started out at $9,995.00 for a lifetime membership with an annual fee of only $298.00.  This price was continually altered for various reasons.  He opted to purchase time shares for some of the couples in the group and found all kinds of ways to keep reducing the price.  He bought back the trip and cruises to help defray the membership costs.  He had a 50 year plan, a 10 year plan, etc.  until he designed one just for us.  $3,000 and $98 a year for a limit of 8 vacations a year.

I was very reluctant because we don't usually take many vacations.   My husband became intrigued and joined with the  possibilty to cancel within 5 business days.  He put the charge on his creidt card.  We compared several trips and became aware of the fact that most of their vacations are for Condo units and would not work for us.

After we researched some travel agencies, we decided this was not for us.  We faxed the cancellation within the required time and we have received our refund.

Naturally, I blamed my husband not getting the round-trip plane tickets and cruise voucher, so he contacted Saver Express to find out about the tickets since we did attend the seminar.  They stated that Saver Express, (888  946-2980) does not sell or market anything.  Island Rays is the company that made the promises.

I called Island Rays at 1 888 410-3260.  Dialing  "0" for operator doesn't connect you to anyone so I used the number for Member Services.  They always seem to be too busy to speak with you at that time and you can leave your name and number for a call back - which doesn't seem to be too important, because we are still waiting to hear from them.

We are fortunate that we didn't lose any money, however, it was a big waste of our time.    I would suggest that if you receive the call inviting you to the seminar, just say good-bye and hang up - don't waste your time.  If you check the internet you will see other dissatisfied reports.
