Please read this before purchasing this product...it is a complete hoax!! My husband and I went to a trade show in Toronto Ontario and came across this product. We purchased an iron for $60 that included a 3 year guarantee. The very first day we tried it it blew all the fuses in our house twice! The iron gets very hot and the water runs out within minutes. By the time you have to fill it with more water you have to wait our use a towel so you don't burn your hand. The water also turns brown with black speckles in it.

We emailed the company twice asking for a refund and describing how dangerous this product is and haven't heard back from them. I feel embarrassed knowing I should've checked for a phone number but thought the website and email address was sufficient. What a complete joke and waste of money.

I hope someone finds these individuals and takes legal action as it is a complete betrayal of consumers trust!

Mine works ok...

AUTHOR: T V L - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, May 13, 2012

I bought the ItalSteam appliance at a kiosk in a Santa Ana, CA mall in April.  The first time I tried it, it worked ok.  The second time, however, I had results similar  to yours - with the exception that it didn't blow my breakers (all I can think of is that your breakers are perhaps older, or of a smaller current capacity than the appliance requires.)

After it started spewing brown water and ruined my white cotton work shirt, I decided to check the internet and see if I could find some solution.  What I found was mostly just people who thought the product was a ripoff and wanted their money back.  It seemed that even if I did want to go that route, I wouldn't have much luck.  At this point, I knew my only options were to just eat it, or drive back to L.A. and threaten the guy who sold it to me until he gave my money back.  Neither of these seemed like the best way to pursue the problem.

I decided that "I'm smarter than this".  I'd already taken the unit apart and knew that there are no moving parts, no electronics involved - this thing is really simple!!  So, what is the problem?  Aha!, I thought.  I'll go back and reread the instruction manual.  So I did.  Then I did it again - and I saw that I had missed a couple critical elements of the process.

1.  Clean out the container after each session.  Just fill it with warm water, cover the holes and shake vigorously.  Repeat, repeat, repeat.  Then turn it upside down and let it dry until next time
2.  Just for fun, you can remove the element (where you plug in the cord).  Just remove the two screws, and carefully pry it out.  Use a rough sponge and scrub the metal prongs until they are semi-shiny, then replace the element into the body.  Be sure to tighten the screws carefully, so as not to strip them, or the plastic holes they go into.  This step will sort of reset the unit to how it was when you bought it.
3.  Add the salt ( I use the little packets from the theater for popcorn - I just keep a bunch of them in the box so they're always ready.  I use three (3) packets. )  Only add the salt the one time at the beginning.  Adding more salt later won't make it better.

4.  When you add the water, only fill the little cup to the bottom of the funnel part.  When using the unit, don't refill the water until it stops producing steam, then only add the same amount!!  Using the right amount of water will keep it from spurting.  More is not always better - guys...

5.  Remember to clean the unit out again after you're done!!!!  Starting fresh every time will ensure better results.

Honestly, I don't work for the company - I just found that sometimes it's better to figure out the problem instead of just giving up.

Hopes this helps.  Good luck.
