We decided to drop our ITP account, and sent a message through their email system telling them so. This was back in March.  They immediately sent back a message saying that "for security reasons", we could only unsubscribe by phone. We work unusual hours, and aren't available to make phone calls when ITP's offices are open, so instead we sent a certified letter (US Mail) legally informing them that we would no longer be using their service. BTW, we had to look up their IP address to get a mailing address -- they don't show that anywhere on their website. Unusual and suspicious.   Then the harassing emails started, and they continued trying to bill our credit card (which we had instructed our bank to not pay).  They continued to insist that an unsubscription  could ONLY be had by phone (since when is notice via the US Postal Service, acceptable and preferred, by every court in the US not acceptable?).  We filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, which is still unresolved.  Oh, and this phone unsubscription thing is apparently part of their TOS. Who reads those anyway? Everyone I know always clicks the box saying they read them, but no one I know of does. So we weren't expecting such an unusual, suspicious and outrageous rule, that unsubscription could ONLY take place over the phone.  Funny, they were happy to open an account we me over the internet. They were happy to take my money over the internet, but I have to call them to stop. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH ITP. Who  knows what other outrageous and unusual rules you are agreeing to!  I'll be going to the FCC and FTC with my next complaint, if the harassing emails do not cease.

File complaints against ITP

Federal Trade Commission:

Federal Communications Commission:

Better Business Bureau:

If these agencies get enough complaints from enough people about ITP and their shady practices, something might get done.

Also, send your complaint story out to as many VOIP and internet service review sites as you can find. Let's put these scam artists out of business for good!

As for my latest, today I got a bill from them. I still haven't received the promised mailing sticker, box and return postage they promised they would send via our last BBB exchange (the NY BBB has since closed the case).
