I am a FORMER EMPLOYEE of JB Dollar.   I say former, because last Friday, with no warning, they eliminated most of their staff in one fell swoop.  They of course retained their friends and family, and a couple of over achiever lackeys who they need on hand to continue to do their dirty work  (poor suckers were not freed with the rest of us!)   They terminated office staff, artists, contract administrators, graphic designers, and salespeople.

The very saddest fact is that most of their employees are seriously underpaid and now forced to live off a very low unemployment check, some after YEARS of service with this employer.

JB Dollar allowed their employees to contract advertisers for 2013, and even accepted payments, then decided to discontinue all print operations.   This is leaving employees, who work on STRAIGHT COMMISSION, without the income they had rightfully earned (of course they are NOT paying out that commission owed).  Further, it discredits the sales person, who is the face of the company. And now most of those same salespeople are looking for jobs in communities where they are seen as screwing over business owners.  Tough situation!

They have contractual obligations to the print advertisers who entrusted them to handle their advertising.  Do they intend to honor them?  NOPE!  Fat chance!  They gave these business owners no advance warning, no refunds, and no satisfaction.

They have contractual obligations to their landlords where they keep offices.  They also cut and run on all their property managers where they leased space.  No 30 day notice to landlord, no prior notice to forward the mail...nothing!   They will probably break those contracts also.

If you are an advertiser of online, I would advise you to pull out, get your money, and find a more reputable company to work with.  I feel very sorry for the employees who were not offered a lay off and are forced to continue to try to pimp for JB.

If you were a print advertiser with a contract in hand, I would sue them for breach of contract and demand monies back, as they are not honoring their obligations as contracted.

They are staying in the online business, and today are answering the phones as "JB Media" as if a simple name change can remove the stench of this dying company.   If I owned a business, I would use a national company like Groupon or Living Social or Sweet Jack, who have a national reputation and can get better results, crushing little JB on every level.

I would stay far away from this company - don't apply for a job.  Don't buy an online deal.  Don't advertise online with them.   If they feel like screwing you over, they will do it without a shred of remorse.

They are shady enough to send almost their entire staff packing in one day.  Shady enough to let down long time print advertisers who have done business for years and years.   Shady enough to run out of their landlords.

I cannot stress this stongly enough.  Stay away from JB Media/JB Dollar.  The owners would run their own granny over to pick up a dime at the other side of the intersection!   They are greedy, manipulative, and plain old mean spirited.

AUTHOR: Confirm Facts First - ()

POSTED: Sunday, April 14, 2013

Only a lazy and irresponsible person would write something like that.  Many of their statement are untrue or are opinion based.  If a company is profitable, it wouldn't close down.  All family members were let go, in fact, everyone is loosing their jobs as the company is closing, so that confirms untrue statement number one, two and three if you count friends and over achievers as stated.  The writer sounds like they are jelous of "over achiever lackeys."  Obviously the person who wrote the complaint is probably one of the reasons the company went out of business.

What really happened?  A new magazine was born a week after the layoff called MaxValues.  Opened by the officers of the company, the president Mark Kosir and two vice presidents, Bob Sitarz and Jim Jay.  Isn't it suspicious the management and sales staff and part of the administrative and productions staff started a company in a couple days?  It almost looks like it was pre planned.  Did these people under perform to force the company out of business so they could start their own?  The managers were the leaders of the company and ran the company.  They knew more about what was going on than the owners.  It looks like the only winners are the people that were in the good graces of this management team, the rest of us are out in the cold and it isn't because of the owners, it is because the managers did it.  MaxValues is identical in every way, including the leadership team, sales team and support staff, excluding a couple of us.
