 We used Jeff Polk on an extensive remodel job that included adding~ 2000 square feet.  Jeff was a pleasure to deal with.  His contractors were all very professional and the finished product was spectacular.  We could not be happier with the house.

Jeff's team stayed on top of the project and were very agreeable and responsive to numerous changes that occurred during the building process.  His contractors all followed up on their work and came out and fixed the few minor items that needed attention. 

I highly recommend Jeff Polk to anyone interested in getting quality work at a fair price.  In fact, my son is hoping to use him for a remodel job later this summer.

 I was very surprised to see the negative post on this site about Jeff Polk and his company. I can say without question, Jeff and his team provided my wife and I with the best remodel experience we have ever had. We hired Jeff and his to team to remodel most of our home in Southlake about three years ago and he significantly exceeded our expectations. In fact, we were so impressed with the work that he provided, we are in the process of hiring Jeff and his team to come back and update our bathrooms.

Also, our neighbors were so impressed with the work that Jeff and his team did, they ended up hiring him for a complete home remodel and had a similar experience to us. We have since recommended Jeff and his team to many of our friends without hesitation. We found Jeff to be honest, thorough, timely, professional and a joy to work with. We found Jeff to be a person of very high character and someone who we could trust implicitly. I would welcome a phone call or email from anyone who is considering hiring Jeff and his team and would be glad to share specfic details about our experience.

I want to submit a rebuttal to this complaint because I cannot imagine this experience being accurate based on my personal experience.  We contracted Polk Design Group for a mid-size remodel of our home.  100% of our dealings with Jeff and this company were professional and ethical.  With many options for contractors, we selected them based on the recommendation of many extremely satisfied customers.  We went in with high expectations and a firm budget.  Polk Design Group exceeded our expectations and stayed within our budget.  We now count ourselves among the many extremely satisfied customers of Polk Design Group and would never hesitate to recommend their services to anyone.  

We recently recommended Polk to several family and friends so I was surprised and somewhat alarmed to hear of this report.  After considering all of the information that I have, I felt it would be an injustice not to share my perspective.   

I don't know all the details of both sides of this particular situation, but based on my personal experience with Jeff I'd wager that Steve's position is untenable at best.  

We are currently doing a complete kitchen remodel with Polk DBG and my personal estimate of Jeff's integrity is top-shelf.  I have not known him that long but I know people who have...people of demonstrated integrity whose opinions I trust and highly respect, and they have invested considerable reputation capital with their recomendations of him.  It has been my personal life experience that you can obtain a pretty reasonable approximation of the quality of somebody's character by evaluating the quality of their associates, and in this case their associates are above reproach.  

My second inclination is to think that Steve was probably a newbie to the design/build process and got upset when something didn't go how he thought it should.  It happens to all of us our first time and is not necessarily an indication of any fault on the buidler's part.  Pride is a tough pill to swallow, but it is what it is and humans are loathe to openly acknowlegde their own error.  I can personally attest to Jeff's skill as a designer; he made some design proposals that were great for our project.  He has a pretty balanced eye for function and aesthetics, so I'm having touble getting on board with some of Steve's comments regarding that.              

The corollary fact that Steve used this forum for an airing of grievances is tantamount to an adult temper tantrum.  I know plenty of wise businessmen and women and I have never seen them use smear tactics like this (or anything similar) as an avenue to conflict resolution.  So I don't even have to really question the maturity of Steve's perspective, his actions tell me everything I need to know.  

My $0.02, for what it's worth.               

We used Jeff Polk Design Group to do a complete remodel on an older home that we purchased.  He built the architectural design perfectly, came up with fantastic solutions to the problem of trying to fit a lot of amenities in a small space, all the while showing us every subcontractor bill, and trying to keep our costs low, and negociating the very best prices for us not deminishing the quality of our home.  We love our home, and have recommended his services over and over.  After 2 years of living in it, the quality is impecable, and his recommendations perfect.  I completely disagree with the analysis of the man who filed the report!

I am a happy customer who used Polk Design Build Group for an addition to my house.  My entrie experience with this company was beyond my expectations of 'getting what I paid for'.  From negotiating the total project cost at the beginning, to keeping me up to speed on the project completion, to the professionalism displayed by everyone who worked on my house, to going over-board to make sure any construction-related issues that came up along the way were resolved to my satisfaction...I couldn't have been more satisfied.

This group treated me with the upmost respect while often taking the 'short-end' of the deal in order to ensure my happiness as the customer.  I know the business ethics this company practices and they will always do more than their part to make things right with the customer, while at the same time, performing excellent professional work as home designers and builders.  

In short, I would not hesitate for a second to use them for another home add-on job or a job to build me an entire home.  In fact, this is the company I would likely use to do either of those jobs.  They are respectful, hard-working, honest, competent and most important out for the satisfaction of their customers.  I know any future customers will feel the same.....

After a major house fire in May of 2012, we contracted with Jeff and Polk Design Group for our rebuild.  Because of the extensive smoke damage our home sustained,  the house had to be demolished to the studs and basically rebuilt entirely.  This was a very stressful time as our family of 5 was displaced overnight.  Jeff and his team at Polk Design group went above and beyond to make the rebuild go as smoothly as possible.  His communication was excellent and I always felt like he was mindful of the budget.  In fact, we were able to upgrade many of our finishes  because of cost savings Jeff found in other places.  His team worked day and night to stay on budget and on time.  For example, at one point, we realized we didn’t have enough flooring so his flooring person drove all the way to Houston overnight to pick more flooring up to avoid any delays.   The finished product more than exceeds our expectations.  Visitors to our home are quick to comment on how beautiful it turned out and many of them have even taken pictures to get ideas for their own home.  Contrary to this negative review, I truly had an outstanding experience with Jeff’s company I would highly recommend Polk Design Group.

Three Years Ago, My Husband and I began the process of designing our home with Jeff Polk of Polk Design Build Group.  We chose to build with Jeff after meeting with numerous local high end builders in the Southlake / Colleyville area.  All I can say is I can't imagine building with anyone else but Jeff Polk.  

It takes an enormous amount of communication and back and forth to nail down a custom home.  Jeff went above and beyond with his time, his knowledge, and his commitment to not only come up with a great plan, but to keep us within budget.  He found ways to cut costs without compromising the design.  We all worked as a team.  Not just on the plan but throughout the entire building process.  Yes, we had a few renditions before we came up the final plan.  That is to be expected ! In the end we came up with a better plan at the best possible price. Again, a TEAM effort.

I have recommeded Jeff Polk  to many people and will continue to do so without hesitation.  Jeff is extemely honest and a pleasure to work with.  The head of the city inspections commented to me what a well built house we have during the final inspection.  His exact words were "This is a really well built house, and I have seen a lot of houses."  After living in ours for over 2 years I would have to agree.  

And last but not least, a woman with a Southlake Architect firm rang my door bell last week to ask if it was ok if she took pictures of the front of our house.  She had a customer who loved our home and wanted a similar design for her home.  True story.

Polk Design Build Group has been in business since 1999 and is exceedingly experienced in both design and budget management.  Our countless list of refferals and satisfied customers speaks to our exceptional abilities as designers and general contractors.  We, at Polk Design Build Group support and propmote the use of tools like the Ripoff report and beleive that consumers should communictae their concerns or problems they have experienced with compnaies they have contracted with.  However, this report is simply not accurate. 

The plans, as they were being developed were chnged signiifcantly to meet the requirements of the architecural control committee and the customer.  the plans developed were preliminary and intended for bidding purposes only.  as my design agreement spells out, it is expected that adjustments to the plan will be necesary after the preliminary stage in order to meet budget requirements.  Additionally, The preliminary budget for the plans designed for Steve included many items that we had planned to price that we knew may not make it into the final plans.  the actual revised preliminary budget came in at $65,000 over his original "target", NOT the $160,000 Steve claims. 

While i acknowledge that we could have gone through the prelim budget process sooner in the porcess, i stand by our proven porcess for plan design.  Im not entirely without fault and this is the only time we have ever experienced this situation.  Always looking for ways to imporve our process, I have altered our process to better set expectations and have altered our process for preliminary budgeting.  On a half milluion dollar build (not including the lot), i expected us to be able to easily work around any design or ammenity requirements to get us on budget.  This is what i have always done.  Despite Steve's desire to simply give up on the process entirely and In an effort to be exceedingly gracious, I waived the $1,669 invoice due at completion of bid ready plans. 

I have no doubt that we would design and build a home that meets Steve's original communictaed expectations in a budget very close to his opriginal target budget.  Keep in mind that construction costs have increased 7% since we originally sigbned our plan design agreement.  If you are reading this and have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to call me at 817-829-0040.  I am happy to provide numerous references from happy homeonwers; all with a glowing account of our process and Contrary to Steve's.  My emails and phone calls to Steve have gone unanwered and im baffled by his response ot this situation.  I do wish Steve all the best.
