Nationwide is NOT on your side. My brand new 2004 auto was struck while parked and unattended by one of Jim Roger's policyholders. The rear bumper and quarter panel were dented/damaged. The body shop's estimate for repair, including a replacement OEM bumper was $1,043. Nationwide's adjuster refused to allow a replacement bumper, even though the General Motors Warranty requires one. He insisted that we have the bumper "repaired" meaning bondo, body filler, etc. I insisted that the car be restored to the condition it was in before the accident. He refused to discuss "diminished value" which would result from such a repair. When I suggested that I would take legal action, he replied that "You can cost us some money by going to court, but we will win, so go ahead."

The adjuster was rude and arrogant, and treated me as if I was the one at fault for daring to challenge his suggested repair.

The policy holder is a mother of 4 who cannot afford to pay the difference in the actual loss and Nationwide's measly settlement offer of $571. I cannot in good conscience take this woman to court.
She paid her premiums, believed all the advertised "on your side" garbage, and agrees that the bumper should be replaced.

Michael of Logan IS NOT an Idiot

AUTHOR: blueangel - ()

I really don't know what your problem is, Lancaster person. Except that maybe, just maybe, you are the one Michael wrote about here, or a relative of the one he wrote about...seeking revenge... But there IS such a thing as "diminished value" of a vehicle after being wrecked. Michael has every right to be compensated for that amount, if there is one. For instance, if he had a "bumper to bumper extended warranty" bought for $800.00 when new, and it was voided with that accident, then the adjustor would have to COMPENSATE Michael for that LOSS.  And, if Michael had his vehicle TOTALED (not the case here, but a "what if" scenerio), and he was a "one owner", it would add $800.00 additional book value, according to blackbook. GET IT?

And, if the claims adjustor's amount that THEY come up with and the amount that the owner of the vehicle come up with are TOO FAR APART, and they CANNOT agree, IT IS SUGGESTED that the matter be taken to court. Just because it is a VEHICLE, and not an injury case, does not mean you have to settle for whatever they want to RIP YOU OFF FOR!!

This IS NOT Michael's insurance company. He DOES NOT have to accept BONDO parts. And, a BUMPER protects your car, your passengers, and your FAMILY. So, LANCASTER PERSON, YOU can go ahead and call Michael all the names you want. It seems that YOU are the ignorant one here.

Michael, you file a claim with your own insurance company. They will go against NATIONWIDE. If you don't do that, then file a claim yourself in Small Claims (Magistrate) Court, asking for the amount of the repairs, plus court costs, filing fees, plus pre and post interest. They will settle. It may be the day before you even go to court, but they will setttle. Make them pay the filing fee, too. The WHOLE AMOUNT.

Don't give an INCH! Been there. Done that. Made the place pay every dime. A big company that tried to BS me. Their lawyers get paid more than what the difference is you are asking for. The woman won't have to pay it. The guy is blowing smoke. He's full of crap. Are his eyes brown? Go for it dude.

Michael of logan you my friend are a true idiot.

AUTHOR: Harry - (U.S.A.)

Okay I am from logan but it is people like you who make me ashamed to say I came from that town. Advice tip number one, before you go onto a website and start spouting off at the mouth and down-grading a local business you should do a little research first to make sure you can validate your claims. First of all I don't blame that adjuster for telling you to go ahead and take us to court. He was probably just happy to not have to deal with you anymore. And how dare you bad mouth a local business just because you did not get your way. Are you four? Let me guess did you stomp your foot too when they didn't give you what you wanted. People like you are what made me get out of the insurance business. You think that insurance is just a place to get free money. I'm sorry but we only pay you what we owe you and obviously you did not deserve a new bumper. I think a guy who writes estimates for a living has a better idea of what it would cost to fix your truck than your unexperienced hill billy ass. Oh and if you are going to try to say that the body shop also said it needed to be replaced, don't even go there cowboy b/c who's best interest do you think they truly have at heart. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's not yours. Hell they prob will charge you for a new oem bumper and put a lkq one one or just repair the orginal and still charge you more. Idiot. Oh and about the dimished value bull shit. Don't even try to pull that one. The state of OHIO does not even recognize dimished value, so if you have a problem with that... write your senator buddy. You know I took a drive through our town recently after not being home for a while and it was sad to see all the empty buildings downtown. It's ignorant people like you who don't even have the common sense to show a little respect for your home town and support it's local businesses.
