I have had 5 years of shear hadees from Jim Walter Homes. There were multiple problems from the get go. I kept calling customer service until finally someone from the company did come out and fix some of the problems. When they were finished, the rep from the company told me he was instructed to find a reason to foreclose because of the complaints.

Next thing I know, I am being billed for $900 for insurance. I had been paying $50 a quarter for the fire insurance and now they wanted $900 immediately. I refused to pay. I file more complaints. I even filled with the Banking and Finance institue. Jim Walter Homes claimed to have credited my account but in reality, they did not. Two years later, the amount for insurance has gone to $1400.

In April, I talked with the supervisor of Walter Mortage, John and he informed me that my last two payments had not been received and if I did not wire the money, they would foreclose. I did. In may, he called me again. I had a hour and 1/2 conservation with this man. He called me a liar on several accounts, mailing payments, returning phone calls. He informed me that all he had to do was make one phone call to Tampa and they would hold my payment, then when enough time had passed, they would foreclose. He said at the very least, I would have attorney fees and court cost but this would be avoided if I did exactly as he said.

I then began sending my payments by certified mail. In June, he called my home and left a message telling me the date, June 17. Instead of calling him back, I called customer service and gave them the tracking number of my payment.

I payment disappeared in July and in September, I received a foreclosure notice from Jim Walter Homes. They say my payments have not been recieved since July. I have cancelled checks from June and August but the July and September are missing. I have tracking numbers and printed off the the payments were received in Tampa.
I have sent an email to our states Attorney General but I am waiting a response.

It is great that you have an attorney thats the best thing you could have done and if there is anyone on here saying anything good about that company you can bet it is one of their hired hench men of all the homes i have seen and walked through in the last two months i have not found one solid built home they are all shoddy and falling apart mine is nine months old and the biggest piece of junk i have even been in it is beyond repair and they know it try to find out all you can about them on the internet look at (((Redacted)))and there you can get peoples phone numbers and attorneys addresses that have taken them to court in the past for your attorney to call and confer with these people play on minoritys and people that they know do not have the money to arbritrate because if you read on abritration it starts at about 10 grand and they take most of our income so therefore they think we will never be able to get them in court Well they are wrong go to your court house and get copies of your mechanics lien and take it to your attorney and make sure he has copies of all your paperwork as well and you will see that you have more to go on than you think

Hello
I just had a Jim Walter house thrown together in 2008 and it is the biggest joke of a house I have ever seen and I do have an attorney and will fight all the way to the sepreme courts if I have to in order to get my home fixed and to make sure that I do not have to go through any more nightmares from this company
My house was what they call tendered to me on august 5th 2008 and has been leveled 3 times and all the painting still has not been finished and theres cracks everywhere
they did buy me a new refridgerator after the foundation people had a jack to bust under my home and they floor fell ripping the water lines to my water and icemaker out and the cabinets crashed in the side as well and i have warped floors crappy stairs both porches need replaced the counter tops are terriable and i have caulk over 1/8"thick where counters came loose from walls

Jim Walter Homes Threatened me and followed through

I was in the process of refinancing and everything was a go in September until Walter Mortage showed my payments more than 60 days past due. Remember, I sent my payments via certified mail and they were recieved. My September payment was mailed back to me, uncashed. My August payment was counted as my May payment which was paid per wire in April. I had to pay Walter Mortage $5,526.07 to keep my home. I have now doubled paid insurance, doubled paid May's payment plus interest on insurance and attorneys fees and publication fees.

I am currently in the process of refinancing and an attorney has all the paperwork backing up my story. My saving grace is that the missing July payment was sent via certified mail and the post office gave me the name at Walter Mortage of the person who signed for reciept of the payment. I am also writing my story and plan to put it in every hand that considers building a Jim Walter Home.

The Wrong Person

Well, your case is much different than anyone I have seen on here. It appears to me either there has been a series of event play out that has horrid misfortune, or you really got under someones skin.

I mean, if what you say is honest to God true, then you have an awesome lawsuit pending, which will more than pay for your home. I will honestly admitt that I have a hard time imagining a man who makes $100k having a personal agenda against you up in Mississippi, but then again who knows?!?

Either way, you are in a bad situation, and I am sure there must be more to the story. Why not refinance your home? JWHG has nothing to do with your money issues, Walter Mortgage or Mid-State is the one with the agenda. Obviously you have some credit issues if you can not refinance, and seeing that I read your posting for the first time 1 minute ago and came up with a plan, why haven't you in 4 years?
