Ripoff Report! JNJ Stone (jnjstone.com~ Nick Disher, James Palmer ) stole my $2200 deposit for granite countertops March 2017.  I knew people who actually bought granite from them when they first started the company but apparently something has gone drastically wrong with these guys. 

The first appointment I had was for the estimate on a Tuesday. Andy (salesperson) was who came to my house. He gve me a quote of $3400 for the kitchen & one bath vanity.  Andy said I needed to pay the 75% deposit in order to have the 2 owners (Nick & James) come that Thursday to make the template & get my order in right away. I was told I could get the install within 2 to 3 weeks.  I paid the next day & was told the template would be done on Thursday. On Thursday no one showed up or even called to cancel.  I called them & they an excuse "confusion with scheduling" but promised they would come the next day on Friday.

On Friday Nick & James called to say they were running late & stuck in traffic. They were supposed to be there at 3 pm and they called around 4. I said it was no problem & waited.  Around 5:30 they called again & said they were still stuck in traffic. I said I would wait. I could tell that he really wanted to reschedule but I kind of pushed for the appointment to be kept as I was thinking about how they said my order would be placed as soon as they did the template. It was Friday and they said they only do template appointments on Thursday & I didn't want to be put another week behind. I had recently gotten new kitchen cabinets & was without countertops, sink etc. & I was eager to have a working kitchen. I continued to wait for the men to arrive. At 6:30 They has the salesperson Andy call me. Andy said the men were in an auto accident & couldn't come. My appointment would be the following week but no appointment was set.  I later learned from Andy that the auto accident was a lie, the men were never on their way to my house. They just didn't want to drive to Fishers late in the day on Friday.

No one called to reschedule so I called Tuesday.  They didn't set an appointment. Said they had to call me back. They called Weds & said they would come on Thurs. On Thurs. they canceled & said Friday. Now I was a full week behind. The said they would be at my house between 1 and 3 on Friday. I paid my cleaning lady to be there. On Friday they didn't show up until 6:30 pm. They did the template & I waited around until they finished @ 7:30. I don't have a working kitchen so the family waitied til 7:30 pm so we could go out to eat as usual. They told me my counters would be installed in 2 weeks & they would call to set the appointment. I thought it was strange that no one said anything to me about choosing my slabs becuase that is something they advertise as a big plus. "You can choose your slabs at the stone supplier & they meet you there" as part of their "exemplary service". How could they cut my granite & get it ready if I didn't choose slabs? I asked Andy & he said they would call me. No one called. I called again on April 6 & asked Andy about choosing my slabs. He was surprised that no one had called me. He checked into it & called back & it sounded like it would delay things if I wanted to choose slabs so I told him it was fine, they knew my colors, so just do what was needed to keep things on track.  I was desperate to have my kitchen done. 

Still no install date was set but I was promised around the 10th of April.  No one called to set an exact date. I called around the 9th of April and I was told the install would happen April 17. April 17 at 10 am. On April 17 no one showed. Another no call/no show. I waited all day and nothing.  I hoped I was just mistaken & they would show April 18. Again nothing. I called Andy & I was told that the schedule was again messed up. I was promised the install date of the following Thurs. April 23 @ 10 am. On April 23 at 9:50 am 10 min before my install Nick texted me. Texted, not called.  He said the health department closed their office the prior week, a flood, they had to dig 8 ft down, and so forth. I know, you're thinking why is this lady writing this? What does it have to do with anything? I was thinking the same thing when I got the text. I finally had had enough of the lies.

At that point I realized that these guys never intended on getting me granite & they stole my money. I called Andy my salesperson & I asked him what was going on.  Andy admitted to me that he quit the week prior because of many reasons but the main being this: 1. because the customers he sold granite to were not getting what they paid for, they got nothing & he had been trying & trying to get them their granite & the owners were lying to him. I believe Andy because one of the people they ripped off was his mother in law for 6k. Andy was really upset & embarrassed & I could tell this situation had taken an emotional toll on him. He himself had not been paid but he tried to hang in there because he didn't want to believe that he had been a part of hurting people including his own family. This is when he admitted to me that the car accident thing was a lie.  The owners had been telling him lies in his defense & I do believe him.  He was still trying to come up with solutions & hoping that he might still get paid, and that I might get my granite, and his mother in law too. The owners were saying her granite was on back order. We called the supplier. Her granite was never ordered. Mine was never paid for either. There is no way that anything like "health dept issues" prevented my install 10 min before the install. My granite was never even paid for let alone fabricated! That text 10 min before my install was just a ridiculous lie! A terrible lie at that & makes me wonder if this guy is on drugs!!! Even if he stops stealing deposits & starts installing granite again would you want him in your house?  Nick texted me again after I texted him asking several questions. He said he was going to do my install the next weds. I said I would prefer my money back in light of everything.  I also said I knew that andy was no longer with them.  I also mentioned his mother in law.  At that point Nick began blaming Andy and up to this point Nick was still using Andy to do his dirty work.  I thought it was odd but I am not suprised. I asked for my money back & said I could pick up the money. Nick went silent.  He texted "can I call you" and I said no, please put everything in writing.  He kept saying he would do my install next week, he is a growing company with growing pains, he lost his fabricator, the health dept. thing... just a whole bunch of terrible excuses.

The truth is that they didn't show up on time except to talk me out of my money & rush me to pay the deposit. Everything was designed to entice me to hurry and pay & make me think that paying would get me my granite faster. The rush made me do things I wouldn't normally do like really review a contract etc.  I'm actually embarrased that I got ripped off like this & even at the end when I knew i had been had I still found myself hoping that I would get my granite next week. Even after I asked for my money back Nick continued to say he was going to install next week in one text. In the next it was "I am going to try to get you installed next week". I said enough is enough & demanded my money back & asked where Icould pick it up. No response. I got an email from Nick where he tells me he has a yellow pages ad and recites his address for the office like that is supposed to make me feel like he is legit.  I asked Andy how old these guys are. They look like 30s but I found out they are 22 and live with their parents!

I feel really stupid but the website looks good & they have good reviews. I attempted to write a bad review & it wont let me.  If you attempt to write a bad review it is set to not accept it! I wrote a bad review on YELP but it was promptly taken down. I guess those boys check regularily to delete bad reviews. They must have a lot of attempts from a lot of people they ripped off. I emailed Nick again to ask about my money. My email address is blocked. Well I guess thats my answer. The last email I got from him he said that going to court takes a lot of time and that I should just wait for my install. I think that means that he wants me to keep taking a day off work each week so he can cancel the install on me & lie to me. Andy put me in touch with a senior citizen who was the last person they actually attempted an install for. After the fabricator quit because he didnt get paid they attempted to install themselves.  This poor lady not only is out the money she spent with them but they destroyed the granite. The cut around the sink is too big and the wrong shape so the sink is falling in the hole. The granite is broken. The seams are jagged. Corners broken. 2 inches of dust all over her whole house. AND they only brought 1/2 the granite needed (you guessed it. "the rest is on back order"LOL) so now she has to buy granite all over again & repair what they damaged. She asked for the rest of the granite to be dropped off & that is the last she heard of them. I have asked in email James to give me my money back & no response.

I filed a complaint with the Attorney General. From what I understand if several people are defrauded the Attorney General can file criminal charges. All I ever did was pay as told & I was very patient but so many lies were told & it got to the point where I was just being stupid letting it go on. I am a single mother & I saved my money to get the tops and now I have no counters at all.  The install was scheduled and canceled without even a call. I sat and waited the first 2 times. The counters have been removed & disposed of. I can't cook and I dont have a sink. I am washing dishes in the bath tub. Mt family is miserable & I am very hurt & upset by the entire situation.  These boys are awful people & even if they do regain the ability to actually sell granite and install it again you should not take the risk because they are crooks!  

Right now though it appears that they are just out selling the job at taking the deposit (75% of the total job cost) and pocketing the money. I don't think they are ever going to start doing jobs again after becoming accustomed to stealing 75% of the estimate.  Why would they actually work for a 25% to 30% profit plus have to work? They are too greddy & this is clearly a game to them.  Good luck & go with a company who is reputable on Angie's List or someone the granite supplier recommends.  The supplier told me that they are hearing similar stories to mine about these guys. If you have been ripped off please contact me and get added on to the Attorney General complaint.  If enough people complain there will be criminal charges for fraud. Thank you.
