I have had months to think about the many things wrong with this giant corp.
Over the past sevral years, I have watched payday become "get the axe" day. No one is safe they call you in,tell you to leave and your things are boxed and sent to the main gate for pickup in a couple weeks. No one is allowed to talk about what happened, sopeople just mysteriously are gone. seniorityhas nothing todo with anything and theyall complainabout everything or look for ways to cause others grief.
CASTE system...corp workers get all the perks; sample sales where expensive items sell for a $1 each and at the end of the day youcan carry out bags andboxes of items. Warehouse/ union employees and contract employees as well as the model hudson store staff are excluded from this, plus the extra bonus 30 to 50% off sales. Warehouse employees are given 2% off to do store purchases. Contract employees are not allowed toattend luncheons or perks unless a gm or vp invites them and even then may get sent away.
We have watched GCA move porters and ignore basic problems, but haveus locked outof bathrooms forday shift cleaning when themostemployeesare inthebuildings as well as contractors and guests. They areconstantly given more chores...so I hope their stupid manager finds away to clean up the salt, mop lobbies, andclean up after all american vendings fiascos at luncheons/parties.
The facilities manager does very little physical work, and agrees with his one worker that Joann Staff sabatoge the plumbing regularly. He does not like to see anyone done with work, talking to any other staff member though it is work related or taking a break...it was reported that he assaulted a contract staff and got away with it. It was just not to be talked about...like everything else it is hush hush and nothing is down except if hecan report workers to a boss when he has zero knowledge about what occurred at the time nor does he even ask. He pushed 2 staff inside of 7 months to quit...he takes great pride in thefact he cannot retain staff.
The model store staff get nothing except their discount at the store and nothing else....they are rt next to the conference center parties....the left over food is not offered to folks at the store, nor sent to the warehouse for other 2 shifts of employees...it goes in the trash; 55 gallon drums of meat, potatoes, gravy, salad and beveragesto the dumpster!
We have managers that insist that there is no conversation between employees at all and do not seem to get the freedom of speech at all. They write folks up for being 1 min late from a break or lunch.
Almost evrything you buy at Joann is not made in the USA and much is over priced $1 store items!
The last time I went to a Joanns I had a very obvious broken foot and leg...I stopped in to get anAmerican cotton short bat of cotton batting. Walking was really hard even with a giant walker and I was told by the greeter I could just walk myself to where the batting like thevery back of he store as they could not have someone get it for me also I did not look like I needed the special cart as they passed it off to another person behind me. I left called Hobby Lobby and they had choices at the desk and were more than willingto take me any where I needed to go ...where do you think i send folks.
I met nice people, but the majority were out for themselves. I doubt if anyone even know I am gone...Igot a much less stressful job formore money.
