I have had multiple issues with my 2008 GMC Sierra 2500 4x4 diesel. It has a dealer installed Regency package that includes a 6" Pro Comp lift kit, tires and rims. The Pro Comp package was installed by 4Wheel Parts for the dealership and they listed the truck as NEW with full GM warranties. I have had issues with the tires rubbing, brakes and rotors wearing quickly or warping, popping and rattling noises in my front end. Just recently a GM dealership in California stated that he conducted a bumper to bumper inspection had to tighten many loose nuts/bolts on my lift kit suspension.

My latest and most concerning issue with my truck was when my steering broke (pitman arm). I drive through some dangerous terrain regularly but not the type that would be considered rough on a vehicle. I had just driven through paved mountain passes and switch backs with no guard rails and long steep drop offs, my steering broke causing me to have absolutely no control of my vehicle. These types of road conditions are common for me and I drive them daily. After driving through the mountains my steering broke at approximately 5 mph as I drove into my parking lot at work. The only reason I am here today is due to God's grace. There has been no event that would have caused my steering to break.

I had my truck towed to a GM dealership who just happens to deal with lifted trucks regularly. Lifted trucks are common in California. The mechanic stated that he had not seen this type of break in his 20 years of being a mechanic. He stated it was due stress on the steering from the Lift Kit. GM wants nothing to due with this issue, 4Wheel Parts says its out of warranty (didn't know there was one with them) and the dealership where I purchased the vehicle is in Colorado.

I am a Project Safety Manager on large Industrial Projects and one of the many things we do is review Near Miss incidents or unfortunately accidents and determine proper means to prevent reoccurrence. I can not say that I feel confident that my vehicle is sound and this issue with my steering breaking will not happen again.

I would be more than happy for GM or the dealership to buy my truck back so I proposed the idea to GM. I did receive a GM offer letter to buy my truck back but its not for the true value of my vehicle. Its for a base price. The Regency package was an additional $16,500 in extras. I still have the original window stickers to prove it.

So here I am driving a truck that I am concerned with driving everytime I sit behind the steering wheel. I have no other choice at this time as it is my mode of transportation. I am still driving through the same dangerous roads as before stressed out that at any time I could have my steering break and go off of a cliff or slam into oncoming traffic.

After reading online about the numerous safety issues with 4Wheel Parts and GM dealerships continuing to allow these lift kits to be installed on their vehicles I am seriously considering contacting an attorney. The constant mental stress of worrying that my steering could go at any second is overwhelming.

I have never sued any individual or company - but I think this time may be the exception...I need an attorney

additional GM issues --- several broken door handles due to them being made out of plastic, inside door locks breaking, constant rattling inside both front doors, mileage was supposed to be 16-18 mpg according to the dealership even with the lift kit. I am lucky to get 12-13 mpg. At tleast 5 times my message center has stated "loss of engine power" and my truck has no power to accelerate. This has happened twice while I was towing a trailer and once going up a steep hill. Not pleased with this truck at all.
