I have been attending JIU for 2 years. Until this year, dealing with their financial aid department has been eventless. I had my paperwork in on time, and received a tentative award package back in June (2012). I usually receive my stipend around the first week in September. When this did not come in, I knew something was wrong. My first call, I was told that no one sent in a letter requesting my loan, second call I was told there was a glitch in the system and something was not entered correctly, third call I was told that their processing department continually sent back paperwork for minor issues. I finally received a call last week, which is still on my voice mail, stating that everything was all set and awarded. I also printed out page from financial aid website.

It is now October. When I accessed my JIU student homepage I was shocked when it had a hold due to financial aid rejection, when everything has been processed and approved. The hold is keeping me from registering for November courses. My student advisor asked if I wanted to use an alternative method of payment in order to register? Another method, when my courses are already paid for with financial aid, pell grant, and student loans. This is a for-profit University, but this is ridiculous!

I am a single parent, who's main goal right now is to receive BBA degree in order to make a better life for my family. I started JIU while being abused, continued my education from a shelter for abused mothers, and now have an apartment for my family. I have gone through too much, to have a financial aid department stop me now. I am currently trying to find and email address for JIU's founder. He was homeless and living in his volkswagon when he started his many businesses. Hopefully he will get to the bottom of what is going on. I am not the only one having problems with this. Upon Googling the problem, there were pages of complaints.
