I hate Chase!! I feel I have been done a great injustice. I have been working with Chase Bank concerning my mortgage since July 2011. It started with a repayment plan of $1500 a month to bring our account current and start our regular monthly payments. We paid the $1500 and our last payment is showing Sept 2011. We were ready to start our regular payment of $1100 in Oct2011. I was laid off from the Us Federal Census Bureau at the end of Sept 2011. So I called Chase and let them know that at Sept 30,2011 would be my last day at work, but my Husband was still working and I was going to receive Unemployment, and we were still going to be making our normal payment in Oct 2011.
I was told that because I was going to be on Unemployment, my income had changed and I
would need to file for a modification. So they said I could go on line and print out the Modification paper and send in all the information that was required. I filled out all the paper and faxed it back in. I was told that they received my Modification papers and we should hear something soon. I said ok can I make my Oct 2011 payment over the phone, I was told that I couldnt make the payment because I would mess up the process of the Modification, that it would be hanging out in limbo and because too much confusion. So I didnt make a payment, I was told this several times while my Husband was working because we had just paid 3 months of $1500 and I wanted to continue with not being behind anymore and sticking with my agreement.
I followed up with Chase every week sometimes several times a week with the status of our account.
This is when the paper work madness started. They would tell me they didnt get this paper or that paper so I would send that paper in. I was sending the same papers over and over again. I would call one CSR and he or she would say we have that paper its right here I dont know why they didnt see it, Ill make a note on the account. Just to be on the safe side I would send the document again. Than I was told that I couldnt just send that particular document that was requested that I had to send all the documents again. So I would fax the whole Modification papers and verifications again.
Finally after numerous times of doing this several months have passed and I was told I didnt get approved for that program and they had another program for me to apply for. This was in December they told me that I would be receiving the paper in the mail, because it was a new program that the
Government Obama had for the home owners. I sent in all the paperwork immediately once I received it. You can look at the records and see I have a ton of faxes and phone calls where I did my due diligence and when they asked they received within the next day.
January 2012 is here and my Husband lost his job so now we both are not employed. I called Chase
immediately and let them know that now my Husband doesnt have a job. So Chase said thats fine we are already working with someone on getting a Modification just send in the paperwork for my Husband with his unemployment, So I did just that. After following up with them again sending in this paperwork and that paperwork stuff that was already sent in multiple times, we were rejected for the Obama Modification because we were both unemployed.
This is when I was told that as soon as Timothy was unemployed that we should have filed for the
Unemployment Modification. So now we are filing for an Unemployment Modification. I asked if I could get it off line because Im getting nervous amount the amount of payments that we havent paid since Oct 2011. The CSR tells me that I could have been making our regular payments since Oct. That really frustrated me because I was told I couldnt.
Now it's the end of Jan 2012 and I have sent in all the paper work for the Unemployment Modification. I call my Case Manager Calden Ferguson to follow up on the status of my Modification and he tells me I have a new Case Manager David. Im like ok how much longer before we know about our Modification.
He said that once all the documents are received and process a couple of weeks. But if I have any questions just call my new Case Manager, he should have received a call from him to introduce
himself as my new Manager.
Calden said he will send him an email telling him to call me. I did receive a call from David and it went to my voicemail and I called him back and he never returned my call. So, here we go again with the paperwork fiasco again!! I cant read this; we dont have this, resend that this has been going on since Jan 2012!! A CSR or Calden would see it and say its there or its legible but underwriting or whoever would say its not. Then I realized that I had so many faxes sent in that it was confusing everyone. I told them to look at 6 faxes ago or 8 faxes ago and you will see that all the paperwork is there its readable, its light enough,ect.. I called in to speak with David about my Husbands paycheck stubs and I got another CSR as usual because David never calls me back when I call him.
I was told several times that my Husbands stubs were too dark and the really couldnt see the amount. I sent those in several times and lightened them up each time. She stated that because my Husband had worked for a temp agency for two weeks we didnt need to send in the paycheck stubs that all my Husband had to do was write a letter stating that he was not working anymore and that would be acceptable. I was extremely upset now; I had spent the better part of 3weeks resending paycheck stubs when Chase didnt need it because he didnt work there any long. She said my Case Manager David should have told me this. I explained to her that I have never spoken to him and that I have been talking with Calden Ferguson or whoever I get when I call. She said that she would send him and his Supervisor an email stating my complaints. I received a call from David within 10mins of getting off the phone with the CSR. That was the first and last time I have talked to David.
I received a call from Calden yesterday May 23, 2012 and he stated that underwriting had my file and I should know something within a couple of days. I was happy with this finally since Jan of this year I should hear how much I will be paying for my Unemployment Modification. A burden was lifted so I thought. I received a call from a Chase CSR demanding that I pay up!! I told her that I am dealing with Chase on an Unemployment Modification and I just spoke with someone at 8:39am. She then said I was rejected because I was 13months behind on my payments and they only allow you to be no more than 12 months behind. I told her goodbye that I will call my Case Manager. I called Davids extension twice and didnt get him so the third time I got another CSR and she told me the same thing that I got rejected. This is when I asked for a manager. I have been sending in paperwork like crazy and the records shows it and I have been commended on sever CSRs because they said most people dont do what I do.
I dont understand the rejection for several reasons.
1. I am not 13mths or 12mths behind on my payments. I am only 8months behind. I was promised last year that if we paid 3 months of $1500 that we would be current and will have not back payments and could start with or regular monthly payment of $1100. I was told that those payments were not
applied to my house payment but to something else. The manger couldnt see where the money went.
That is wrong especially when we fulfilled our end of the agreement and made those 3payments.
2.If we started the Unemployment Modification in Jan 2012 how can you say that after 5months of you jerking me around that you are now rejecting me because Im outside of the 12mths period. When I applied for the Modification I wasnt outside of the 12mth period. Even though this point is irrelevant because I am not outside of the 12months window Im only 8mths behind.
3. My Modification process was not handled in a timely manner. I have been working with Chase
since last in June when we were told that our loan would be in good standing if we made the $1500 payments and we made all of them. Chase has not held up to its end of the bargain in no way shape or form!!
At this point I think Chase has purposely scammed me to get me further behind on my payment to charge me more in fees and charges so that my loan amount and payment will go up. There for forcing me to do a short sale and cut your losses. If Im being treated like this keep falling deeper and deeper behind due to the slow process of Chase than how many others have and will lose their homes. I have also filed this complaint with the Consumer Finance Department and have sent it to my fiend at my local news station to have them do a little more research on this issue. I have also reached out to several other news agency and talk shows because Chase isnt helping its hurting. Its not fair, I have worked hard to get my home and I want it but if Chase has its way Im going to lose it.
