A man called saying that the government was giving my husband a $9000 Grant for being an upstanding citizen. They were very detailed in their explanation of Why the grant was given and and gave him a phone number with a verification number to prove their legitimacy and to explain how to claim the money. The number was 202-697-9564 and the man who answered said he was Justin Wesley. He explained that the government needed $200 to cover the cost of transferring the money by Western Union and that the money would be wired within 20 minutes of him receiving this fee. Hubby was very excited and came and told me about our good fortune. I Google's "government grant scam 2026979564" and found a long list of complaints about this scam, mostly dated from over a year ago. Unbelievable this is still going on from that same number after all the reports! From the other people who have reported this I learned that the calls are coming from the District of Columbia. My husband would likely have sent them the $200 if I had not been home!! Beware!! And someone, please!, shut this thing down!!!
