Hi,
I will make this shori and sweet. I got hired into a temp to hire position at kelly services to do what i thought was customer service,, So I go to the job and find out its a telemarketing place for medicare marketing for insurance companies.
whatever I figure I will give it a go,,

Well to even keep the job I had to take a 2 week training crash course in medicare marketing 101,, and to even keep the job i had to pass the various test they would give after every days training they would give a test the next day. Ok so I passed all the test and made it to the second week. well over the weekend I decided that it just wasn't my cup of tea to sit on the phone all day and try to convince seniors to switch there medicare around.
So I called first thing this morning at 6 am and left a message at both places, the true bridge place and the kelly services place.
So 10am rolls around and I call back to Jermey at kelly services to see if I can maybe get into something else, and JERMEY is really nasty with me and he says,,
well We cant put you into any another positions because you didt work out a two week notice, Im thinking HELLO its a temporary job agency,, since when do temps work out any notice,, they usually work different places? besides that it was a 2 week training period. Anyways I just wanted to post this because I think to deny an American a job because he didnt like work out a stupid notice? Is vary UnAmerican and keep in mind it was a training period not actual work,, and i was sent there from a temporary service to begin with. Ok now if I worked there say 1 year or even a few months then sure a notice is cool.

So if your thinking about going to kelly services for a job you better like the one they give you because if you dont you will have to work there an extra 2 weeks if you want to be offered another job from kelly services.

THIS IS A HELL OF A BAD ECONOMY, THESE PEOPLE WANTED YOU TO WORK FOR THEM AND YOU MESSED UP BIG TIME WHEN YOU DID THIS!

AUTHOR: Joe - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, March 28, 2009

Here where I live, we have people who would LOVE to have the opportunity to have a chance, any chance, just to have the OPPORTUNITY to show an employer what a great job we could do --and we would repay them by showing up for work on time, WORKING while there and NOT goofing off, WORKING OVERTIME, WEEKENDS AND EVEN HOLIDAYS IF THAT IS WHAT IT TOOK TO GET THE JOB DONE WITHOUT COMPLAINING!

you don't know how lucky you are to have the chance at A REAL JOB!

I guess you are rather young and inexperienced in the workplace because it doesn't sound like to me you were homeless and had to work your way up from homelessness like I did during when Jimmy Carter was President. I had just got out of high school and there were NO jobs and NO help back then either!

Let me tell you this, just to get by financially, you are going top have to do a lot of things you don't like and it is easier to find another job when you are employed than when you are NOT!

AND YOU BETTER START PUTTING MONEY BACK FOR WHEN YOU GET OLD BECAUSE IF YOU ARE A WOMAN OVER 45, IT IS MORE DIFFICULT TO FIND JOBS UNLESS YOU ARE AN RN OR A DOCTOR OR A LAWYER OR SELF-EMPLOYED OR IN A HIGH-DEMAND OCCUPATION.

AND IF YOU ARE A GUY, IT GETS HARDER TO FIND WORK AFTER 50.

I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT SOMEONE OFFERED YOU A JOB AND YOU ACCEPTED IT AND INSTEAD OF BEING GRATEFUL, YOU THREW IT BACK IN THEIR FACE.

THAT IS IMMATURITY, INEXPERIENCE AND A HORRIBLE WAY TO START YOUR WORKING LIFE.

MAYBE YOU CAN GO HOME TO MOM AND DAD AND THEY WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU OR MAYBE YOU HAVE ANOTHER FAMILY MEMBER WHO WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU. BUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEY PASS AWAY AND THEY HAVEN'T LEFT YOU ENOUGH MANY TO LIVE WITHOUT WORKING AS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME WHEN MY DAD DIED?

YOU GOT TO THINK AHEAD.

YOU RIPPED OFF THE COMPANY THAT HIRED YOU, YOU RIPPED OFF THE REPUTATION OF THE JOB COUNSELOR GUY WHO REFERRED YOU AND YOU RIPPED OFF KELLY WHEN YOU PULLED YOUR PETULANT NO SHOW.

MAYBE YOU COULD HAVE FIGURED OUT A WAY TO WORK THE JOB SO IT WOULD NOT HAVE SEEMED SO BAD.

HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU WOULD EVEN LIKE THE JOB OR NOT -- YOU NEVER EVEN GAVE THE EMPLOYER A CHANCE.

I WISH LIKE HELL AND EMPLOYER WOULD GIVE ME A CHANCE AT A JOB BUT FOR EVERY JOB OPENING HERE, THERE ARE AT LEAST 600 APPLICANTS, SOMETIMES MORE, EACH MORE QUALIFIED THAN THE REST.

PUT THIS BEHIND YOU. DO NOT LIST THESE PEOPLE AS A REFERENCE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE BLACKBALLED AND TRY TO FIND ANOTHER GOOD DEAL LIKE THIS.

IN A DEPRESSION ECONOMY LIKE THIS, YOU PROBABLY WON'T HAVE MUCH OF A CHOICE WHERE YOU WORK AND SHOW A LITTLE MORE GRATITUDE NEXT TIME.

MAYBE THAT COMPANY SHOULD CONSIDER COMING TO TEXAS WHERE PEOPLE REALLY APPRECIATE AN EMPLOYER!!!!

would the company you work for give you 2 weeks notice when one day they walk you to the door? I DONT THINK SO!!!!

AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, March 28, 2009

that happened to me after 19 dedicated years of service at the place I worked for.after 19 years, one day without warning they walked a bunch of workers out.think a company cares about you and your sense of well being? they wouldnt give a rats-a*s if you dropped dead on the floor, but they would throw you outta there before you started stinking up the place.yes its a cold hard reality but the SAME d**n THING can happen to any one of you.

A 2-week notice is ridiculous...

AUTHOR: Giselle - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, March 07, 2009

...but so is quitting without notice. I've worked for many different temp services, Kelly included, and the most notice I've been asked to give is 1 week. Most places just required 2 weeks. Quitting without any notice would have gotten me blacklisted at any agency. That rule should be listed in the employee handbook, so it shouldn't be a surprised.

It doesn't matter..

AUTHOR: Striderq - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, March 07, 2009

if it was temp to hire or just temp. The point is the OP decided on the eekend that he didn't want to do the job he had agreed to. Instead of a two week notice he just called in and said I won't be there. If any employee does this at any job (union work excepted) then they are going to be marked non-rehirable. The company wnats/needs people they can depend on and his actions clearly so that he is not dependable.

Side note: my wife did the same job for Kelly and he has desrcibed it incorrectly. This job is not about convincing seniors to switch their Medicare carrier, it's about finding the best carrier for the customer to help cover their medical needs. It's not sales, it truly is customer service. trying to help people on Medicare find the best service provider to cover their needs and cost them the least.

Companies DO take the time to train temp only workers

AUTHOR: Elizabeth - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, March 06, 2009

I work in a call center for a Medicare Program. We have had three classes of temp only workers that have two-week training programs. How do I know? I have assisted in training them. How do I know there is absolutely no chance of it being temp to hire? Because we have lost our contract and we are all out of a job at the end of this month. No one can assume that this individual's position was temp to hire just because he was being trained! Many industries have service level agreements with government agencies and requirements of providing a certain level of service. What is the point of paying someone to do a job poorly????

Just my 2 cents on the matter.

Kelly Services is an at will employer! Also a joke!

AUTHOR: Und3r3stimat3d - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 20, 2008

The contract that you sign states that Kelly is an "at will" employer, meaning that they, or you have the right to terminate at anytime without notice. Kelly Services did the same thing to me. I accepted a "temporary position" with Kelly on a friday. The position was to begin on monday the following week. Later that friday afternoon, I was offered a full time "permanent" position with another company. I'm not crazy, I took the position that offered JOB SECURITY! I was told that I could no longer work for Kelly, because I didn't give enough notice. I fought with them until they reversed the decision. Since then, I accepted a position that was supposed to last 90 days. I was laid off after 1 month! On top of that, they never processed my direct deposit, which was submitted twice! I was never paid on time! My checks constantly got lost in the mail! Anyway, when they terminated me, my check was due within 24 hours according to state law. They laughed at me and paid me 10 days later. They messed with the wrong bee-otch, because the labor commission has called them into court :)

what you did was "un american"

AUTHOR: Cat - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, November 03, 2008

Sorry , but you were the one who did them wrong. They depended on you to show up for work. Just because this is a temp place does not mean you can leave your job on such short notice. They can not depend on you. You dropping this job shows them that IF they would hire you again, you probably would drop another job on short notice, so you tell me why they are suppose to trust you that you wouldn't not drop out on another job? Please do not tell me because you would "promise" them that because you said you would show up at this job and didn't. I hate to break the news to you, but sometimes adults(actually most times)have to take on "jobs" to pay the bills until we get the work that we trained to do and if you do not have any post high school training then you will be stuck in these type of jobs until you get the education you need. Only you can change the types of jobs your'e stuck in. Adults have to sometimes do things we do not enjoy so that we and the family that depends on can eat , have clothes on and have a roof over our head!

This was not a ripoff , actually Kelly Services should be filing one on you for dumping them! That is where the true ripoff lies here. You ripping off them!

Your kidding right...

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, November 03, 2008

You were placed into a "Temp to Hire" position, they had gone through an entire week of training. Instead of talking to either of them directly you left voice mails at 6am to let them know you quit.

"...Is vary UnAmerican and keep in mind it was a training period not actual work,,.."
- Umm you were getting paid. So basically you cost this company not only your 1 week of labor cost, but the labor cost of the people that were training you. Not to mention that you made the temp agency look very bad by just quiting.

You should always leave on a positive note and basically doing a "no show" is not the way to do it. It does not matter if you get the job on your own or through some agency.

How is this a rip-off?

AUTHOR: Edgeman - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, November 03, 2008

It sounds as if this was a temp to hire position. The client wouldn't put you through all of that training if they only needed you for a couple of weeks.

The temp agency had to find someone else to send someone else to the client on extremely short notice and if they couldn't find anyone, they look bad to the client. You should have talked to Kelly Services before dropping out.

I wouldn't send a temp who did what you did to another client either.
