I don't normally write bad reviews, but I am growing concerned that my bills are not being paid in a timely manner after my settlement. It is now October 16, 2015 and I received my settlement check on September 3, 2015, minus my lawyer fees (33% when I was told at my initial visitation it would be 30%) and minus an extra amount that was being withheld to pay my doctor/hospital bills. I have had a couple phone calls from different doctor's offices or their collection agencies that my balances are still past due. This is something that representatives from Nugent's office assured me would be taken care of. If that is true, why am I receiving these phone calls and why are they still not taken care of as of this morning? I have made a couple calls myself to find out that they haven't spoken to anyone lately, they tried calling the office only to not reach whomever is in charge of my account, and/or my bills are still sitting there waiting to be paid. I have personally tried calling different people in Nugent's office on 3 separate occasons to only reach a voicemail, which I have left. I tried calling the paralegal on September 10, the woman in charge of my accounts on October 5, and lastly my lawyer, Mr. Deutschman, on October 7. I have still not heard anything from any one of these 3 people. I spoke to a woman with Wellstar Kennestone hospital's collections department this morning and she said that I still have an outstanding balance. So, I guess what I want is either my bills taken care of and any remaining balance I may have paid out to me, or to pay everything to me, minus the 33% or whatever the fee is so can take care of what is owed and get this all behind me as fast as I can. As far as what was actually paid out to me, it was roughly 50%. Although it was a sizeable sum, it is still not 67% if I still have outstanding balances that are left to still take care of.

It's been a while, but needed to write an update....

I couldn't remember where I posted this review, but I've felt that I've needed to update it for a while now.

First and foremost, as far as I can tell, they did their job to the best of their ability. After many phone calls and conversations with a representative from the collection agency, I FINALLY found out that my mother, who had no idea about what was going on concerning my care while I was in the hospital, felt the need to take control over my care above and beyond what my fiance had organized. She had no idea that I didn't have the other driver's information or that I had 2 policies of my own to take care of all of the corresponding bills concerning my care. Instead, she refused to communicate with my fiance and took it upon herself to sign off on some paperwork stating that the other driver's insurance was going to take care of everything. So, long story short, the hospital contacted me to take care of all these bills in which Nugent's office then paid out of my settlement. Somewhere along the lines, there were a couple of bills that slipped through the cracks which then went to collections. In my eyes, my mother's actions caused me to lose out on a sizeable sum of money and I don't think that the lawyer's office could really do anything about it since my mother was legally my next of kin and had the legal say so instead of my fiance which, in all honesty, goes against anything I would have agreed to.

Now the only thing I can really say about the whole situation is that I wish I would have known exactly what was going on from the start concerning that signed document. If someone found that out, it would have been nice to hear about which would explain why such an amount was paid out of the settlement instead of paid by my insurances. Communication goes a long way toward keeping your clients happy! So now I'm left trying to figure out what my next step should be.....
