King Locksmith and Key rips people off, period. Everything about their business and the way they conduct it screams illegitimate and shady. Services were rendered at a private residence, a simple deadbolt key removal (it was stuck in the lock) and deadbolt cylinder replacement. According to their website and the given quote via phone when the initial call was made, the total cost of the repair should have been $100-$129. Once he was done working, he handed over a slip totalling $529 with no breakdown or explanation regarding the additional $400 worth of charges. He was given no authorization by the cardholder for that amount to be charged. No invoice was given, and the slip given had no business name, phone, or address printed on it, leaving consumer with no way to contact anyone with questions regarding the astronomically over-priced amount.
After arguing with someone for several days regarding payment, the conversation took a turn towards him threatening to impose a lien on the residential property where the work was done. No professional services or legitimate business would do this. Additionally, we'd like to point out that when services are provided for over $500, you need a separate type of license exsclusively utilitzed by contractors. Also, when you call the business and ask for their license number (it is advertised in the heading of their homepage on their website that they are "Licensed, Bonded, Insured") you are given a flat out 'no', and no, you may NOT speak to anyone else, no one has it, funnily enough. This would lead us to assume that the business and all of it's repairmen are not, in fact, licensed in the given field.
Ultimately, King Locksmith and Key is an illegitimate business conducting illegitimate repairs on unsuspecting and innocent consumers. The business is advertised in Woodland Hills, CA and only actually searchable in Chino, CA, over 60 miles away and in a different county, entirely. One only needs to place a phone call to their main number listed on the website (the only means of contact available) to get a feel for exactly who they are and how they treat consumers.
