I signed the so-called "LA Weight Rebate" form April 18, 2005, for an astronomical amount of over $900.00, not to mention the other "costs" with the take-off juice, so-called "nutrients", and diligently met their visiting requirements toward the 6-month reward. I have every record of these visits. In the interim, I needed to undergo surgery on my right ankle, a talonavicular fusion. LA Weight Loss was aware of each and every part of this process, and I was told repeatedly that as long as I called in (I could not drive obviously because it was my right ankle).

The same process occurred when I was working toward the 1 year rebate voucher. By this time, I had developed MRSA, Strep and Staph in the bones of my right foot, and was scheduled to have a Symes amputation at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. LA Weight Loss was aware of each and every part of this process as well.

I had met the goal weight at 6 months, weighed in at LA Weight Loss and recorded this information--as did LA Weight Loss. Additionally, I had someone drive me in again for the 1 year milestone. This, again, was recorded at LA Weight Loss.

I have contacted the manager at this facility, and all I get is snotty remarks about not meeting the criteria. This company needs to be brought up short. I will not stop with this. I will go to the media, to Good Housekeeping, etc., etc. until I get my half returned, as agreed to.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

people need to read the contract

AUTHOR: Tara - (U.S.A.)

I would just like to say that I did work at LA Weight loss for 2 years and while I completely disagree with many of the things they have done I have seen many people that have signed up for the program, came for about a month and then quit coming. I have sold many of these programs and made it very clear to every person that signed up that the weeks they are purchasing are consecutive and cannot be taken as the client pleases. This is for many reasons. There is no way for us to keep track of 300 clients coming and going as they please. Also if you pay for a gym memebership you pay a month at a time but you are ususally stuck in a contract. This means it does not matter if you go for two weeks and then quit going that you are no longer held to you contract that means you par regardless if you go or not. So why is it that many of you out there that have paid for the weight loss plan feel that when you decided to quit for a few months and your time is up, we are obligated to carry you and your weight loss for the rest of your life. When you sign up you pay for X amount of weeks, you go until your time is up. Your weeks are calculated by how much weight you need to lose. Which means you are paying for service for that amount of time, if you decide not to use that service you lose out. It is up to you to take your weight loss seriously. We call every week you miss to get you back in. That is not for our benefit it is for yours, we have already been paid for our service when you signed up, so we aren't calling to get more money out of you it is to make sure you get the service you paid for. The reason you wouldn't get a refund is because you have wasted the weeks that you have already purchased. Now regarding the rebate. You only get the rebate after you have gotten to your weight loss goal and have finished 6 months of your maintence program, and you are still at your goal weight. After that point and only after that point will you get your rebate. Same as with the year rebate. Now I have also dealt with MANY clients that claim they are on a medical hold and we have put them in the medical folder, and when we have called to see when they are coming back they tell us they are just to busy to come back now. The medical file is only meant to be used in very serious cases and only up to a month without doctor approval some centers require even a doctors note to prove clients are pregnant. I have seen clients files in the medical file for years in some cases. We are absolutely not supposed to put people on hold for this long, and in most cases the client just doesn't want to be on a diet at the moment and that is why they haven't come back. I have had clients try and pull the same thing you are saying over on my manager, when I know for a fact that I, personally have explained to them how things work. It is your job to make sure you understand and agree to the contract before you sign it. I can tell you everything that is in the contract, but it is your job as an adult to not sign it if you feel you do not agree with it. It is time American adults take responsibility for the decisions they make and stop trying to brush the blame, for not paying attention, on someone else.
