This company has been hiring people with Food Protection Certificates temporarily (unknown to them) because 

there own employees don't have them.

It seems that Lackmann Culinary Services has a problem. From the ggeneral kitchen staff, the deli man, grill man and food prep. All the people in those positions have lost there jobs temporarily. They are required by the health department to get there food protection certificates and the union there was told that they could not hold there jobs in food preperation without getting the DOH card, so Lackmann has been hiring people with food protection cards to replace them temporarily and not letting the new employees know that they will be fired one by one when the old employees get there food protection cards.

This was the first thing i noticed when i was hired at the Wagner College location. The Chef would not show me around or tell me what was expected of me. "Just work here for now;and we will figure out what to do with you tomorrow" the chef told me and several others that were hired just because they had there certificates, But during the interview I was told that i was hired as a cook and the chef had a list in his habd that had all the departments where they had to replace the worker with someone that had a food protection certificate. 

After being hired there for only one week, the guy that i was replacing had already been moved to trash man and was telling me that he was close to getting his old job back, so i asked him what job was that, and he told me yours. He went on to say that he has help my position for seven years and was only moved to trash pickup temporarily until he had his food protection card; and he would get his job back. I then asked him what would they do with me, and he said he didn't know but he was promised that he would get his job back ny the union rep and the chef when he get his card. The next day he told me he took the test and he believes he has passed, he also told the chef; and the day after that, the chef started to get an attitude with me. and threatened my job.

I quit knowing that this is what they were tryin to do now which was get rid of me now that the old employee was close to getting his Food protection card, and i quit before the other guy got his card because he failed the test.

The chef then called me and begged me to complete the week because they would be short a man (the only man on the floor with a food protection card) and they would have to shut down the department until they found someone that had it.

Don't Work For Lackmann Culinary at Wagner College. They are liars and will use you and throw you away.
