Larry Bellan, 5 Star Housing, Poole & Associates, SeaScape Unit 310, Sea Scape 310 Property Not as Described and Pictured on VRBO website, this was a disgusting place to stay!!! Baton Rouge, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach LA, AL

Upon arriving at our condo, we were very disappointed.  I didn't expect it to be fancy or anything, considering it isn't the most expensive place.  We have been coming to Gulf Shores for 10 years, and this is by far the worst place we have ever stayed in. We picked this place due to the wonderful reviews it received on VRBO's website.  However, upon this trip I have learned you should never trust a biased, one sided, edited review.  DO YOUR RESEARCH!  This unit is UNSAFE, and UNFIT for anyone as far as I'm concerned. Here is a list of the major things wrong with the place:

 

-There is a ladder and several big boards on our balcony, just leaned up against the wall.  I have a 3 year old that this could easily fall on if he leaned or pushed on it.

-We were unable to open the sliding door in the master bedroom, the door seems to be stuck

-The toilet in the guest bath does not flush properly, and after reading some of his reviews on VRBO, I see this has been a common problem

-There is duck tape on one of the electrical outlets that does not appear to be safe.  Once again, I have a 3 year old that naturally gets in to stuff, and I am afraid he could be electricuted.  

-There are patches over holes that have been sloppily done in the master bath

-There was a fresh brown poop stain on the floor of the master bedroom near the bed/sliding door that was never properly wiped up.  This is something the cleaning people should have taken care of.

-The bottom of the cabinet in the guest bath is broken/knocked out.

-The bottom of the loft bed is missing/hanging from the bottom.

-My family member was scared to even sleep under the covers in the loft bed because they were so dirty and old.

-A majority of the decorations and things hanging on the walls in the VRBO pictures are missing, and there are just nails and holes left on the walls, and I found the decorations under various beds.

-Balcony is unsafe, the rail is quite wobbly.  I don't let my 3 year old near it, for fear that it could come loose.

-The stairs on the east end of the SeaScape building are unsafe as well.  A majority of nails are popping out, and the boards move, and are wobbly.  I am scared to walk up the stairs, because they do not seem to be very sturdy.  These could easily be hammered in and made sturdy and secure if someone just took some TLC.  

-The pool here looks like a partially above ground pool, very odd.

-"Carpet" on balcony is ripping aware and bare in spots, providing a tripping hazard and is quite unsightly.

 

These are the major things wrong with the place, and I do not mean to be nit-picky, but when you spend 1,200+ dollars, you expect to at least stay in a clean and safe place.  It is clear that the cleaning ladies or house keepers are not very good, as there is dirt and things along every wall and in every corner.  The cleanliness is an easy fix, and this place really could be cleaned up and it would be much better.  It is clear no one cares to take care of this unit, as our unit is the ONLY unit that does not have a working light bulb in the outside light, above our front door.  ALSO, when looking at the balconies from the beach, our unit is the only one with boards and a ladder on it.  There is rust on all the patio furniture, rust in the microwave, and I could go on but I think you get the picture.  Also, the water in the shower gets turns cold in the middle of your shower.

 

 

After we arrived, I immediately called Larry.  I told him we were very disappointed with the place, and it was not up to our standards, I explained that we have always paid a similar price when we come down here, and stayed in much nicer units.  He took this very personally, and said I was "rude" for saying these things about his place.  This definitely made me upset, because I do not appreciate being called rude when I am simply stating my dissatisfaction with his place.  He said he stays in this place frequently and never has any problems with other renters.  I find this hard to believe.  I was hoping he would come up with some way to help us out or make the problems better, but he was not willing to help at all.  He continued calling me rude and he asked if I was "just trying to get a free place to stay."  This is extremely offensive, as I have never had this kind of problem with ANY vacation owner, or condo.  I was hoping he would just give us our money back, minus the deposit, so that we could go to a different condo and spend our vacation in a much nicer place.  Larry told the property manager that I yelled at him, and although I was very upset and insulted, I did not yell once.  The only "mean" thing I said to him was "thank you for helping us none" and then he hung up on me.  I was very unhappy with him though, and I'm sure this was obvious in my voice.

 

Larry was unwilling to help us, and HE was the rude one.  He wouldn't return my calls while my family were staying in his place, he did not resolve the issues, and he didn't attempt to make any kind of contact to fix this situation.  Needless to say, i will NOT be back to this disgusting unit!!!
