League Of American Poets RIPOFF! They riped my then 12 yr. old granddaughter off for a book that her poem was to be in. She sent her child support money of $50 for this book that it has been 3 1/2 years and still waiting. Baltimore Maryland

Back in 2005 my Granddaughter then age 12 sent in a poem and then got a letter in the mail that her poem was to be published in this book. So she wanted to order the book, She saved up her child support and send in $50.00 dollars for this book.

It has now been 3 1/2 years and still now book. I called once and the lady said that it takes time and that she would get the book in about 6 months and that was 2 1/2 years ago. I have not called since. I figured it was a rip off then. I feel bad for Brina cause she was only 12 and now she is 15 1/2 and she was riped off.

How can they do that to kids and get away with it. She could have used her child support for other things, but she wanted this book cause her poem was to be in it, and she was very excited about it. Her first poem was to be published and then nothing.

I still have my letter from the company with all there infomation on it. The lady that contacted me through this letter is Teresa G. Starks she is Senior Editor. The book she was to get was an Anthology book. Some thing needs to be done with this company that will rip off young kids and teenagers.

I think the Attorny General and the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Goverment should do something and shut these scammers down so they don't rip of our children again. Our kids don't and us as parents do not know if they are rip off artist or not.

Please do something to stop this from happening again to another youn child like my granddaughter. I thought people could not enter into any contract with a minor. Why do these people get away with it.
