Purchased 2 Lenovo Ideapads from Office Depot as gifts for my Grand kids. One works fine most of the time. The other did not work right from day one and appeared to have had the back removed at one time. (very slight pry marks). Office Depot did not have any more in stock, and recommended returning to Lenovo for repair/replacement. I trusted Lenovo when they said it would take 5-7 days to repair. After 9 phone calls and no web support, I finally got someone to tell me what was going on. Apparently Lenovo is having this problem (will not charge and freezes up) with a lot of the Ideapads. They wanted to send my Ideapad to their research department to compare to other bad units which they said would take at least 2 more weeks. I informed them that this was not accceptable because I have one Grand child with a Tablet and one without. They said they would try and speed up the process, but could not give me a name or number of who I was speaking to. This is a learning experience for me as I need to buy 2 new Desk tops for my business and certainly will not consider a Lenovo/IBM product.

LENOVO IS JUNK

AUTHOR: Chris - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 15, 2012

Just  a follow up to my original post. After 4 more phone calls and a total of 37 days, the tablet was returned to me with a letter explaining all the repairs that they had done. Charged the battery and tried it. What a joke! Same thing wrong. Screen froze up and fluttered. I took it to my local Office Depot who I have been in contact with regarding the problems and lack of service from Lenovo. Even though I bought the unit online and had it, well actually Lenovo had it for over 6 weeks, the Manager insisted that they refund my money. I can't say enough good about Office Depot, but I can say that Lenovo is junk. We purchased a Tashiba Thrive which works great.

I agree, he was ripped off

A brand new product right of the box that does not work / function properly should not be repaired, it should be replaced with a new unit. Similar problems with Lenovo service, weeks of calls & emails brought no response or help, the local dealer was of no help with my unit. Working with the BBB & the Office of the State Attorney General brought results I found to be equatable.

Last time I checked Lenovo service it was rated at 16 out of 100, checking on the Lenove web site there are thousands of service related complaints listed, few resolutions-lots of run around.

Ripoff-yes, a brand new product should never need to be returned for warranty service, the unit should be replaced with a brand new one and replaced quickly. I urge the original writer of this report to contact the BBB and / or the Office of the State Attorney General for his state & file a complaint against Lenovo, results come rather fast.

How are you being ripped off?

So the company is standing behind their warranty and working on repairing your item. I wish more companies would actually fulfill their obligations like lenovo is. So you are looking at a total of 3 weeks to get a warranty repair done? That's fairly quick actually. You need to learn some patience.
