I was also a member of life sport at empress walk. David rysinski took illegaly about $500 out of my visa account.
But there are some solid evidance to put these criminals behind bars. David rysinski, parcill, clark kent, jasminn dennis were planning the bankruptcy for a long time:

- jasmin dennis was taking loan from the bank without making a single payment since august 2002

-a week before closing david rysinski, clark, parcill took out at night several cardio and strength machines claiming that they have to be fixed(he got taped by the mall security cameras)

WITH OUR MONEY THEY ALREADY OPENED A NEW GYM IN RICHMOND HILL

THE NAME IS MAXIMUM FITNESS adress 354 NEWKIRK (the same building as BINGO)newkirk and elgen mills
TEL. 905- 884-6800 dave clark and parcill are answering phones like nothing ever happened
This is where probably the life sport equipment ended up

WE HAVE TO STOP THEM AND PROTECT OTHERS FROM BEING RIPPED OFF

p.s my frend also a former member of life sport in her new visa statement was already charged $65.00 by Maximum fitness

Legal counsel at the Ministry of Consumer and Business Services is currently reviewing the Life Sport file. Once the review is complete, charges will be filed. If this goes to trial, I am looking forward to attending and watching Jasmin et al. answer questions because she/they certainly never answered any of my calls/e-mails when I was a member.

Apparently, there is an investigation into Lifesports billing practice. Constable Rick Wright of the Fraud Squad is heading this investigation into Life Sports dealings. The other part of the investigation deals with the fact Life Sport was selling memberships right up until the day they went out of business. According to the Officer, a blatant form of fraud that merits a full investigation and according to them Charges are just about to be filed against them. This is accurate information and anyone who feels they where ripped off is supposed to contact the Ministry of Business and Consumer Affairs of Ontario. The bootom line is a Class Action Suit against the Management, Sales People and Owner is in the Works! I was surprised to find this out through a Crown Attorney who is related to one of the members.

Ted,you smarty pants, from your tone I suppose you think the rest of us are all idiots for not seeing the bankruptcy coming? How come you're on this website unless life sport screwed you too just like the rest of us?

I used to work in the fitness industry myself(including sales), and yeah I know the fitness industry is more about making the quick buck than caring about keeping people healthy and in shape. That's why I'm no longer in it. I also know that fitness club employees in general can be real pricks. However, I think you're missing the point Ted, Life sport was engaged in ILLEGAL practices. I doubt Extreme and other gyms, as money hungry as they are, have engaged in criminal activity where they are actually BREAKING THE LAW. There's a difference between selling used cars and taking money out of peoples accounts.

As for Jasmin, posing as someone else is a serious crime. Because we don't know for sure, we'll have to assume (skeptically of course) that people are who they say they are. I'm sure our friend David R who writes on this site is the real McCoy. You make a good point about Jasmin though.

Hey folks, wake up and smell the coffee. I am surprised that no one questioned so called letter written by Jasmin. Do you honestly believe that she actually posted on here? Come on, why would she do that and crimanalize herself? She never wrote it!! Someone who just declared bankruptzy is not going to take the BLAME for everyone to see? Plus she would be harming herself financially. Also read between the lines, it's designed to take heat off of the people you are blameing in this forum. Also she never left an address or phone number for you to get your refunds and at the bootom of her name it says USA.. But on another note, you cant blame the Manager or the sales guys for the company going bankrupt. You may not like there sales tactics, but 90% of all PUBLIC health fitness clubs, Extreme fitness included, and many others sell memberships the same way! It's similar to buying a car.

They sales people might have had a little bit of knowledge the club was going bankrupt, but it's still not there responsibility or there concern. if you look at the state of the club over at least the last 1 year period all of the signs are there for bankruptcy, lousy up keep of equipment, running out of paper in the washrooms, nothing getting fixed.

I knew at least 6 months before this place wasnt going to last. Many gyms are a cash grab, Extreme fitness included. They try to maintain, but of sales drop off, the place is gone in know time.

Who exactly is Jasmin Dennis and what is her background? When I was trying to contact her with my complaints, I could not find any information about her. The investigator at CBS didn't know much about her either. She has been - and continues to be - a total enigma.

An empty warehouse? David, you disappoint me. And to think I was gonna stop by to check it out. Given David's penchant for impropriety and imcompetant business skills, reputation, past, and ineptness run a business, I don't expect this new venture of their's to get off the ground. David will only be multiplying his enemies. If Purcill and Clark were smart, they would ditch David as a business partner because he is clearly a liability to them. Look, they already lost a potential customer, even at the great price of 99 dollars for half a year. I can't say for sure whether the one treadmill you saw was stolen or not. And I will mind my own business when it comes to Dave's personal life that Miriam was refering to. But I will say that Lifesport would still be alive and prospering today had it not been for the incompetance and illegal business practices. Isn't it ironic that people who try to jip other's only end up jipping themselves? Reminds me of an old proverb: "Those who cheat in order to win a have already lost". As for the complainers being liars, I can't speak for anyone else, but everything that I have said on this site has been the absolute gospel.

David!!!! Un..eFing believable.

You have the nerve to come on this website and state that you had NOTHING to do with LifeSport going bankrupt and stealing our money when as Paul pointed out that you were the GM. I don't know but that to me spells responsibility. If you couldn't handle the job you should have quit, instead of trotting around the gym like you owned the place.

I do not care what that email said that supposedly came from Jasmin, but does she really know what the customers of LifeSport had to put up with when they dealt with you? You my friend did not do that place any favours:

1. Your customer service was poor. You treated the customers like you were doing them a favour.
2. You ignored countless phone calls and letters.
3. You were rude and disrespectful
4. You were deceptive

That gym still owes me money after I cancelled my membership with David in March and again in August. I was still being billed. What do you call that?

As GM you owed it to the customers to stand up and take accountability. Now you are trying to shy away from your role in the demise of the company..STAND UP AND TAKE IT LIKE A MAN...oops I almost forgot you are not a man, what you are is a cowardice, deceitful, greedy, dishonest boy.

As for you JASMIN, don't make me start. I have some words for you. But it will have to wait.

Len, I think it is quite clear why David has refused to answer my two questions: he does not want to implicate himself in the Government's ongoing investigation of Life Sport.

Earlier, and in response to another poster, David wrote:

"There is no investigation and there will never be one. Can you guess why, because the company you paid went bankrupt?"

David is wrong. The Government's investigation continues. Here is what I received from the lead investigator on the Life Sport file in the Investigations Section at the Ministry of Consumer and Business Services:

"Yes, they filed for bankruptcy on Sept 23rd however, as indicated in correspondence you will receive shortly, that does not impede my investigation."

My understanding is that the Ministry has been inundated with complaints, broken contracts and financial statements from dozens of former Life Sport members.

None of these people, all unsecured creditors, will get their money back. However, they will get the satisfaction of knowing that charges will undoubtedly be laid against Life Sport's ownership/senior management.

As the old saying goes: "You can screw some of the people some of the time but you can't screw all of the people all of the time".

Unfortunately for Jasmin, David et al, they've screwed over far too many people for far too long and now the paper trail is catching up with them.

I live in Richmond Hill and recently received a flyer in the mail for a new gym called Maximum Fitness offering a great grand opening special - 6 months for $99. I had been planning to join a gym and thought I would check it out. Afterall, it was a good deal, there would be new equipment and, hopefully, not too many people at first!

I went to the Newkirk St. location. From the wording on the flyer, I thought the gym was already operational. Instead, I found an empty warehouse-type room, with some people inside and one treadmill! The sign on the door offered the same special, but it was a pre-opening special! Needless to say, I left without signing up! I'm not interested in giving my money to a company to fund their start-up. When I got home, I thought I would check out that gym on the internet (cuz that's the kind of consumer I am!), and it brought me to this website. So, thanks for reporting your experiences with their previous company. I wanted you to know that it made a difference, and you saved someone from potentially having the same bad experience. And in case someone wants to rebut my comments, don't bother. I know it's not the same company, etc. etc. And I've read that all the people complaining here are big liars... Maybe so. But I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt - and protect my money.

Really Dave, I warned you not to challenge me. But I guess you're a gluton for punishment. You haven't even replied to Paul's two questions. You accuse "D" of making up lies, and embarrassing herself, when you're the one being embarrassed day in and day out by former members. Do you realize that nobody likes you? Do you realize that right now, you're reputation is lower than Tara Reid's IQ? Please, if anybody's credibility is in question, it's yours. You're about as sincere as OJ's quest to find "the real killer". You just talk alot and say nothing. Just read Dave's responses on this website people!!! Does this seem like an honest, kind decent man to you? Calling people names? In denial of everything? Showing absolutely no remorse? Making no sense and talking rhetoric verbal diarrea? At least Jasmin had the good sense to apologize and admit her mistakes. I think d**k Chaney will survive another 10 heart attacks before you do the same. Finally, you accuse me of having a grade 12 education and having a simple mind. Do you realize that you've just insulted two thirds of the Canadian Population? you just insulted many of you're employees as well as you're members. Dave lays another egg........between my 3.67 GPA at U of T, and 84 percent high school average, you're dust at my feet. Wow you must be quite an important person for Empress Walk Security to allow you review there security tapes, I mean now that I know who I am dealing with I should start shaking!!! Do you really expect everyone to believe such a load of garbage.

Remember now you have a captive audience so you didn't write your little article for me did you. I mean, you don't have to prove anything to me since I apparently already know, but how about everyone else who's listening.

You say I am in hiding, where do you think I am. Oh yeah if you could read and looked at all the articles you would already know where I am working. So if you don't want to come to my house how about my work instead, I would love to see you in person, I think it would be quite an interesting visit for you at least.

Hello

My name is Jasmin Dennis; I am the former President and co-owner of Life Sport Health Clubs. First of all I would like apologize to everyone that I have taken advantage of, with my business and personal affairs. I apologize to all the members and staff of Life Sport. However the biggest apology off all would have to go to David Rysinski. He has endured over two years of hardship with an obviously bankrupt company. He did not take your money, I did. I am the person everyone is talking about not David.

I am ashamed that I have dragged Life Sport through all these financial hardships and I have made everyone suffer. I know that I cannot make everything right however I would like to make things up to everyone personally. Because of my ways I have profited deeply from you, and now I would like to give it back.

Please contact Paul Casey Trustee in Bankruptcy who has handled our current events. I will receive your self addressed envelope with a letter from yourself and how much I owe you, and personally apologize with returned letter and refund from me.

I see that Mr. Rysinksi has re-appeared on this message board and responded to a number of posts.

He has not, however, responded to the two very straightforward questions I posted earlier.

Namely:

"1. Countless posters on the various Life Sport threads have written about how you and other Life Sport staff/general managers routinely ignored letters, phone calls, e-mails related to matters such as cancellations and double billing.

Was ignoring such letters, phone calls and e-mails official company policy?

2. Even if you were a lowly employee, you certainly were aware of the letters, phone calls and e-mails related to cancellations and double billing.

How could you remain an employee of a company with a clear culture of corruption - particularly with a role such as General Manager? Surely your conscience must have kicked in at some point with dozens - if not hundreds - of people being regularly ripped off."

Come on, Mr. Rysinski, be a man and answer the two-above posted questions.

HAHAHA. My dear friend David, Why would I want to prove what you already know? Why would I wanna reveal my inside source? So you can use it to continue to harm others? You're sounding alot like Conrad Black these days. Surveillance video (DUH! you were recorded!) was seen by all who were interested of that clearly showed you taking equipment from the gym. I'm not making it up, everyone knows. Why? BECAUSE THEY SAW IT!!!!!! The only reason I'm using the internet to "peddle garbage" is because Jasmin and her puppets (which means you BTW), went into hiding the minute lifesport filed for Chapter 11. The Kingstone Pen is exactly where you folks belong. What are us "little people" suppose to do? Drive up to your house? And now you're calling a "valued lifesport customer" a loser? I think you just hit an all new low Dave. Sticks and stones will......ahhh whatever. Good luck getting another GM job in the future.

David, do you know what LOL means? It stands for "laughing out loud", which is exactly what I was doing when i read you response. I'm having waaaay to much fun with this.

If a receptionist was supposedly receiving paychecks after her termination then maybe you want to tell your audience how that's possible, oh yeah our accounting department was in on it to. You're going to have me jumping through hoops, sure buddy, anyone like you brave heart who uses the internet to peddle your garbage is just a loser. Well well, what do we have here? If it ain't good ole Mr. R___ski himself out to defend his flaundering rep.

Now listen to a man who knows. I found this out from an inside source. So I know its true. It goes a lil something like this.

David R. hired his girlfriend as a receptionist for Lifesport. (If you don't know which one she was, she was the rude one LOL.) After several complaints she was fired, yet still continued to collect paychecks. Now my dear David R. don't you deny this cause Its true.

Also, how do you explain the video surveilance footage of you stealing equipment from the club in the middle of the night? Also, I happen to know that the boxing instructor was distraught that one of his punching bags went missing. Hmmmmh. Don't you dare challenge me to this Dave, cause if you do, I'll have you jumping more hoops than a circus tiger and unlike Ned Flanders on a sunday, you don't got a prayer.

Questions for David

David, you seem to want everyone to believe that you were simply a lowly employee of Life Sport with no responsibility whatsoever. Your former position - General Manger - suggests otherwise.

Two questions:

1. Countless posters on the various Life Sport threads have written about how you and other Life Sport staff/general managers routinely ignored letters, phone calls, e-mails related to matters such as cancellations and double billing.

Was ignoring such letters, phone calls and e-mails official company policy?

Sorry Mr. Rysinski but....

Mr. David Rysinski was personally involved in my difficulties with Life Sport to the extent that, as the Area Manager, he had the authority to require fraudulent charges to my credit card account to cease, and he had the authority to arrange for payment of my judgment against Life Sport before bankruptcy. Mr. Rysinski did neither of these things.

Further, Mr. Rysinski would have been obliged to attend the Small Claims Court, particularly an Examination Hearing, had I been able to get further along in the enforcement process before Life Sport went into bankruptcy. In fact, the Examination Hearing had been scheduled prior to the bankruptcy; all that was left to do was to serve the court-approved Request to Attend on Mr. Rysinski. At the Examination Hearing, Mr. Rysinski would have been required to answer questions as to Life Sport's ability to pay the judgment awarded in my favour against them.

Whatever anyone else may say, I do not mean to criticise Mr. Rysinski in any way beyond his actions as an employee with sufficient authority to stop financial harm being caused to many individuals, including myself.

This message is in response for Lucy. As you know I am not an owner or operater for Life Sport and reiterate that I was an employee and not required to appear in small claims court. Whats next, taking the cashier at Loblaws to claims court for a faulty register. As you stated, I ignored legal procedings, and as you know your claim was possibly against Life Sport Inc. not me. You question my integrity, honesty and you do not even know who I am, and your false allegations are also part of a smear campaign against a bankrupt company. This does not involve me personally so lets not make it personal.

Difficulty believing David Rysinski - Life Sport

I have difficulty with Mr. Rysinski's rebuttal of Martha's comments.

I was forced to take Life Sport to the Small Claims Court for fraudulent misuse of my credit card details, and for failing to recognise my rescission of my membership agreement under the Business Practices Act following misrepresentations made when I joined the gym.

I attempted several times to correspond with Mr. Rysinski, but he ignored my letters, my Statement of Claim, and my copy of my Judgment from the Small Claims Court. I had just started the enforcement process when Life Sport declared bankruptcy.

I find it very hard to believe that anyone who does not see to it that the company for which they works stops fraudulently charging a former customer's credit card account, and ignores legal proceedings, would be truthful about either his role in the company or the company itself. Mr. Rysinski's conduct in my case demonstrate a lack of integrity, honesty, and character that most likely extend to his other actions in respect of his highly dubious employers Life Sport.

Manager following report is false

The following report is false and does not have any proof to this claim. David, Clark and Parcill were employed by Life Sport only, and did not have any other involvement in terms of ownership. Jasmin was the president and co-owner along with Lennox Lewis of Life Sport Fitness. As an employee I am very disapointed to see this report and to see a personal attack aginst myself, Clark and Parcill.
Also there is no relationship between Maximum Fitness and Life Sport Fitness.
Life Sport Fitness has filed for bankruptcy and has not paid thier employees including the names on this report.
