The sorriest day of my life is when i did business with LONE MOUNTAIN TRUCK LEASING. They are truly the biggest ripp in the trucking industry.I saw an add for INTERNATIONAL TRUCKS with a low down payment they told me they had 49 to pick from when i got to TIFTON GA there was 5 to choose from. I picked the best of the bunch and made the deal then driving home the engine was smokin real bad i stopped at the dealer and they told me it was a liner or ring. I called LONE MOUNTAIN and they told me to use the warranty company so i did i was told from NTP they were not covering ot because it had to be pre-exisiting because the truck had 346 miles on i since i left LONE MOUNTAIN . The truck was in the dealer for 3.5 weeks and i had to pay 4633.22 and LONE MOUNTAIN paid nothing just like there warranty compay NTP paid nothing. LONE MOUNTAIN TRUCK LEASING IS A RIPP OFF COMPANY.

Let's be sensitive to victims of this scam

AUTHOR: anonymous - (United States of America)

I found the response by this by the person who professes to not feel sorry for this aggrieved consumer highly insensitive. Any body with a human conscience would understand why somebody who signs for an expensive truck and it breaks down less than four hundred miles away would feel entitled to help fix the problem. Never mind the dyno test or whatever, reputable dealers sell trucks that are DOT certified or give you freedom to have it checked at your certified place of choice. I bought a truck from that same company, had this dyno test done but only completed one run before the truck started coming apart. We could as well go to pull-a part to assemble our own trucks than use this insensitive company.

my experience with loan mountain truck

AUTHOR: Izzy - (United States of America)

I got a truck from loan mountain 27 months ago. As for me I have had very good luck with my truck I've replaced the air dryer in the clutch only after I've put 300,000 miles on it. I'm still running the truck and it runs great the fuel mileage is terrible but otherwise it is a good truck. I did not pick the best looking truck, I was more concerned with the mileage and current condition.considering my last truck which was constantly breaking down all the time it was a never ending blackhole I brought the truck from Freightliner in Indianapolis. So you never can tell about a used truck don't matter who you get it from these days you're liable to have problems especially in the previous owner or fleet over failed to maintain proper maintenance.

I change my oil every 12,000 miles that's with APU in my truck. I really never had a problem loan mountain truck but I almost did I was having back problems and in and out of the doctor but still working. I was looking at the possibility of being down 3 to 5 months with a spinal fusion which luckily never happen but if, I was unable to make the payments for two months they would have come and reprocess the truck.that is the only complaint I have is that they will not give you a chance regardless of the circumstances to catch up or make the payments.and I have never been late on a payment yet. Otherwise I think they are a pretty good place to do business with I have never encountered any of these problems. But I have never been late or without insurance.

GPS

AUTHOR: onemancrew - (United States of America)

I see a lot of talk about GPS and or Tracking device being installed by Lone Mountain as to weather they are leagal or not. In either case because Lone Mountain chooses not to put them in a Lessor(Driver) contract therfore what stops the driver from having them uninstalled from the truck he/she lesses from Lone Mountain.  After contract is sign and truck becomes possesion of said driver he/she may modify that truck as they please. And since there is no mention of GPS unit in a contract therfore it does not disallow that driver from unistalling any Tracking device from power unit (Truck).  So if u really dont want Tracking device in your Truck just unistalled and be done.

CAC was a test that someone failded badly

CAC stands for Charge Air Cooler,(in a car it would be call a intercooler) it's the air to air radiator infront of the radiator..  it cools the air coming from the turbo before it goes into the intake and if it's leaking tomuch (more than 6-7 psi in 15 sec) your fuel milage and horse power will fall off. mine was tested at 3.2 psi

a wet kit is if your truck has a PTO = Power Take Off to run things "Hydraulic"

just looking for insight

AUTHOR: newbe - (United States of America)

Ok plz dont go ape sh*t on me,im kinda new to the industry and im like a sponge for information. So first whats a CAC? 2 i have the money to go to a dealer in fact i was told at a one that the 8000 i had was a good down payment but i was told by other drivers that leasing a truck would be a better way because of the lease being tax deductable so i started to look at that option what do you guys suggest. Next where would i send an oil sample too? lastly i dont want to be over my head so what would be a sufficent amount to begin owning my own truck? If theres any other info you think i may need please feel free to enlighten me. Thanks everyone.

it is plan to see that you don't know what you are talking about when you are talking about dealers checking things Kenworth,Peterbuilt,Freightliner and so on.

dealers standared for checking a used truck to get it ready for resale is NO DYNO (they don't have one) , no oil sample, no battery test, no radiator psi hold test, no radiator cap test (if it's not leaking on the ground they don't check it) brake check (if it's 1 mil over 1/4" they call it good) no clutch check unless it's out of adjment, no wheel bearing check if it's not leaking, no front end alignment check unless severe abnormal tire wear, no CAC test, (do you even know what a CAC is...?) and if you have them test the CAC they will say it passed or not (passed means it doesn't need to be replaced under warranty standard) doesn't mean it's good...!!

i pic of YOUR truck doesn't show you have been in the industry for 39 years just that you took a pic of a truck.

"I said, pay for what you want but don't expect the rest of us to do the same."   true you get what you pay for and i spent the money (and i would have done the same checks if i had get it from the volvo dealer) to have my truck checked out very well maybe thats why i've only had ONE (unexpected) major/minor repair (clutch) in 137,000 miles, and as someone (with a brain) that went into buying a used truck i had the money to have it fixed WITHOUT needing to call lone mountain and cry about how i didn't have the money to have it fixed and cry about how i couldn't make my payment ONTIME....

and realy "Your just another obvious flunky" thats the best you can come up with....? what no reference to inbreeding or my mothers marital status at the time of my conception...???

elevated levels of sodium indicate a egr cooler is close to going out.... the next sign would be coolent usage less than 1 gl per 20,000 miles. at this point coolent will not show up in the oil sample. but you know what is going out so you can get it fixed now for $2,500.

at 1.5-2 gl per 20,000 miles the coolent will start to show up in the oil sample but by this time the coolend is starting to eat away at the bearings now it will only set you back $10,000-$20,000

that is why they check for sodium and the reason oil samples need to be done at EVERY OIL CHANGE

did you know a oil sample will tell you that you have a bad injector BEFORE IT GOES BAD..?  lead, tin, zinc, copper, and the rest will show you what part is going bad BEFORE it break and leave you on the side of the road

They advertise on there web site something like,we have an inventory of dependable trucks. If they have not done any of these test that you swear by,how can they make that statement.Am I not suppose to believe them?Well of course not they are used car salesmen. But your not going to make me pay to prove you a liar, which you are when making that statement in the first place.

Just because people have done business in a certain way for years, does not mean things can't change. With all the scammers in this world you have to go out of your way to prove your honest, people are tired of the games, and that's all they are is games, games to get the most money for the least resposibilty or work.

    You are a salesmen dream.

I didn't get the picture of my truck down loaded but that was going to prove I'm in the industry.

As far as you not believeing I've been doing this for 39 years, that's your problem, and as far as you calling me a liar I've been called worst by better.

As I stated much earlier, people that have money go to Kenworth,Peterbuilt,Freightliner and so on.People that don't have much money get suckered in by the Lone Mountains of this world.Your just another obvious flunky.Like I said, pay for what you want but don't expect the rest of us to do the same.Everything is negotiable,I would think you would know that already.

"" You keep saying 39 years like I'm lieing to you."" i keep saying it because you are...!

anyone having "" Been in the business for 39 years"" would know the things that need to be checked and WOULD KNOW that no dealer checks them all and that if the buyer wants then checked it is the buyer that needs to check them or PAY to have them checked and if you've ""Been in the business for 39 years"" you would know that is standered. and the op didn't do it

""Most don't have alot of money just starting out,"" well if you've "" Been in the business for 39 years"" YOU WOULD KNOW that is the reason most fail.  they don't have a plan, they don't have the money, they don't have a clue, they don't check things out, they get truck fever and just go out and buy a truck then when anything goes wrong it's always someone else's fault..!

IF as the op said he had $90,000 in the bank then why was he looking at and buying a older and cheaper truck.....? and IF he had $90,000 in the bank WHY didn't he have it checked out (dyno)....? and IF he had $90,000 in the bank why not pay CASH for the truck....??

""if it is not advertised as road ready"" if it passes DOT it is road ready duh..! and if it fails dot they fix it FREE and will fix ANYTHING you fine wrong, my truck passed everything and for a solo it was ready but i run team and it was missing a part (that only teams would need) they didn't have it instock so they had the part fedex to my house

""There are alot of things that can be done to make this easier"" you want easier be a company driver that would be easier.  being a o/o is not easy it's a business and any business that buys used and deoesn't have it checked out is going to fail, any business that is under funded is going to fail, any business that doesn't have a business plan is going to fail.

"" I said I would say no more because I was trying to down load a picture of my truck and the site wouldn't let me without writing something"" what picture.....??  i don't see no picture of your truck...?? and what would a picture of YOUR truck have to do with we are talking about.....??

where to start

THE DYNO

in your 1st post you said nothing about having it done...! you said "" I picked the best of the bunch and made the deal then driving home the engine was smokin real bad""

in your 2nd post you said ""A dyno test is for the engine(s) wear and tear and what horse power that is still available""  DUH the reason for your truck smoking real bad.  so by your own words a dyno WOULD HAVE SHOWN wear and tear like a bad ring or liner...!!   if you had done a oil sample it would have shown up because the shoot would have been thrugh the roof and may have also shown fuel in the oil

in your 3rd post you said you had it done BUT by your own words a dyno WOULD HAVE shown the engine was bad.... so you wouldn't have been ""driving home""

and you said "" i have all the documents to prove it"" well i'm calling you out, POST the dyno report to show your not lying

and i'm calling you out again to show what law they broke IF they put a gps in the truck....

i know more than you do

"" if you did know something about oil samples you would know that acceptable levels of each metal varies between each engine brand and model"" duh and so does the lab as will as what it SHOULD be for the milage on the truck

"" I had a sodium problem once, had cat do a few oil samples and they said its nothing but traces of road salt. Did another oil sample in september and sodium levels were normal. Plus, who makes engine parts out of sodium???"" 1st if sodium wasn't important then why do they test for it....????  2nd if you knew anything at all about the internal parts of a truck engine you would know that sodium is a trace mineral in the metal used in a few parts and if it's to high then a part is going bad. 3rd if your not doing oil samples at EVERY oil change be ready to do a rebuild sooner than you should. thats a unnecessary $13.000-$20,000

"" at lone mountain they dont give you a week to wait for an oil sample to come back"" real. a week..?

i dropped my oil sample friday sent if off to a outside lab and tuesday morning i had it... and if i had done it in the morning i could have had it back by close of buisness the NEXT DAY

"" i 100% agree that the buyer should NOT have to pay to have a truck checked elswhere"" if you want to spend $10,000-$90,000 on something (anything) used and not have it checked out your a idealistic idiot or just stuped.....   when you buy a house YOU PAY for a title search right and YOU PAY for a home INSPECTION right. and your paying OUTSIDE people to do it        and if you think your not paying for it then maybe you should reread your closing paperwork and the only person i have ever met at lone mountain was the salesman i dealt with...

oil sample

AUTHOR: Josh - (United States of America)

You act like you know everything about oil samples, if you did know something about oil samples you would know that acceptable levels of each metal varies between each engine brand and model. I had a sodium problem once, had cat do a few oil samples and they said its nothing but traces of road salt. Did another oil sample in september and sodium levels were normal. Plus, who makes engine parts out of sodium???

Also, at lone mountain they dont give you a week to wait for an oil sample to come back.... once they get you to sign the line all guarantees or promises are void.

And i 100% agree that the buyer should NOT have to pay to have a truck checked elswhere. Its just a way to get the responsibility off lone mountains back.

Floyd,it would be obvious to anyone that you work for these people now,or have some kind of vested interest.

There web site says reliable, dependable trucks, how can they make that claim when a potential customer has not taken it and had it checked out. Also if they had checked the truck out so they could make that claim, why would a potential customer have to have it checked out?I think you people are dealing in false hope.

You keep saying 39 years like I'm lieing to you.

You can think what you want, you can pay what you want it doesn't bother me at all.

Everyone one has a hand in the truckers pocket and it is programs like this that help someone fail, even if you don't want to admit it.I would tell anyone thinking about buying a truck,if it is not advertised as road ready don't touch it.Also for someone to go out and buy a bunch of trucks, sit them on a lot and let the masses figure out what's wrong with them is just wrong. Most don't have alot of money just starting out,but the hand in there pocket starts before they even get on the road. There are alot of things that can be done to make this easier, but for some reason you don't want no part of that.

So as I said before,I wish nothing but the best for all and God Bless.

they fix it for FREE or give him his money back IT'S IN THE CONTRACT....

you've been in the TRUCKING business for 39 years.....?  if that were true then you would know what should be checked and how it should be checked.  like doing oil sample's and dealers can't do a full oil sample, their is only 2 good off site labs that do a full test of the oil. if you've been doing this for 39 years so how much is to much iron.... what about tin ...?

ok i'll make it ez  how much sodium is to much....?   if it's to high what part is getting ready to go out and with a sodium of 20 if you take the part off and look at it can you tell it is going to go bad.....?   it's a $2,500 part and if you have been in the trucking business for 39 years you should know this.  and if the part is not replaced in time you will be rebuilding the motor in the next 2-3 months and the only way to tell is with a full oil sample.

how much is to much of a psi loss on a CAC....? THE DEALER CAN CHECK IT AND SAY IT'S OK but the wrong anser will cost you $10,000 a year in fuel but you have been in the trucking business for 39 years so WHAT IS A CAC......?

alot of the things that need to be checked CAN'T BE DONE  at alot of dealers, try calling all you local truck dealers and see if they have a dyno..! few do. (only one dyno in the nashvill area)  do you take your truck to a dealer for a frontend Alignment...?   not the best place to have it done...

are you even a truck driver because you don't have a clue about buying a new or used truck

""You have got to be joking.I don't see where anyone should have to pay to have a truck checked out""
you ever buy a used car...? did you take it to a outside shop to have it checked out...?  no then YOU were stuped and if you did  then did the car dealer pay for it....?

""The seller should have done that before they put it out for sale, and when they did put it out for sale it should  be road ready""
if they did it and it broke down then you and he would be blaming the dealer for lying wouldn't you...?  they want you to take it to a outside shop that has no incentive to say it's ok when it's not and lying on a dot inspection (outside shop) would go to jail....

'''Why don't they just go over the truck the way they should in the first place and then put it in the price they want to sell it at''
like certified pre-owned....?  do you even know what certified per-owned means....?  not much.....

"Why would you want to pay to do what they should do,aren't you putting out enough money to begin with just to buy the truck""
because ANYONE buying a $10,000  - $90,000 used truck wants to KNOW how sound the truck is not what the guy/dealer saids it is

""This is the reason these guys do what they do because people like you think that is ok.Integrity goes along way""
yes it does BUT what i did and what i had check is INDUSTRY STANDARD for buying a used truck even when buying a USED truck from a NEW TRUCK DEALER, i would have done the same thing if i got certified pre-owned volvo from a volvo dealer, if you were a truck driver YOU would know this is standard...

"" Also with the GPS thing, now we are going to assume that everyone is a crook""
i repoed for GMAC for 2 years so maybe i know alot more about it than you do.... and repoig a car is not the same as a truck. most of the time the car is in the same town (within 50 miles) and and even then it can take forever to fine it if they don't want you to. but a truck can and will be anyware in the country if the person lives in nashville, tn. well the truck maybe working in oregon or texas or..?  without gps how would they find it when the owner stops paying....? what should they do wait outside his house for 2-12 months hopping he comes home WITH the truck....?

"" I keep seeing more and more bad reports on these folks,so that says more about them than you can""
try rereading all the reports on here about them and don't look at the name of who posted it. then reread them again and look at the writing style, the words they use and you my realize that almost all of them are by the same person using differend names.....!  also look at the dates of the posting and you will see a pattern.  they have been in business for years but no post before 8/15/11....???

all i pointed out to him is that if he had done ANY of what he should have this wouldn't have happened. but no he had truck fever and wasn't going to listen to anyone. so HE was stuped and it's 100% his fault.....   just the same as if you went out and got a used car and all you did was take it for a test drive talk to the salesman then paid for it and it broke down on your way home, if you did that i'd call you stuped too, i have a 96 dodge ram i got used with 195,000 on it 6 years ago, it still has the original drivetrain in it today with NO MAJOR repairs why because i spent alot of time checking it out as anyone should when buying anything used....

if your not a truck driver then don't chime in about something you know nothing about....

peace to you and yours

if you had done WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE you would have found it simple a oil sample would have shown it but no you were to cheap to realy check out the truck and now you want to blame someone else so you don't have to take responsibility...

this the best you can come up with "" Is Joe Hoovestol going to give you a better deal on your next truck to write this.""

""And as far as Federal law you don't even have a clue you can not invade anyones privacy with a GPS UNIT without your consen"" realy will why don't you put down the cb stop listening to all the truckstop cb lawyers and POST a link that SHOWS it is illegal for the OWNER of the truck (your not the owner until it's paid for) to have a gps in the truck..... hell all the trucking companies that use satellits communication would be breaking the law because all sat-com, quil-com, driver tech's ALL HAVE GPS....! hell with your thinking even the federal government would be breaking the law because ALL FEMA loads have trailer GPS.....! so if YOU KNOW SO MUCH  just prove it by posting the link to what law (city, county, state or FEDERAL) that loan mountain is breaking......!!!!!

""As far as have $10,000.00 in the bank i have $90,000.00 in the bank"" then WHY WERE YOU TO CHEAP.... to have the truck properly checked out....?????

it's YOUR FAULT you picked the wrong truck and it YOUR FAULT you didn't spend the time and money to have it checked

"Say hello to Joe and Andy for me you are there little puppet""  never met them, never talked to them, don't ever know who they are

"" i have 26 victims of Joe Hoovestol "" realy they sell 100's of trucks a year and you have 26...  if they sell 100 a year you have 26%.... O but if you have 26 and they sell 100 a year for 2 years you have 13% or 3 years you have 8.6% but if they sell 200 a year for 3 years then you have 4.3% and you woun't find any new or used car of truck dealer that is better...

your just mad because you didn't do what YOU SHOULD have and it didn't work out for you  TO BAD SO SAD.......

or are you mad at me because i did spend the time and money to get a good truck something YOU WOULDN'T DO...., have had it for a 11 months and it's still running just fine have i had repairs yes but nothing i couldn't deal with and i've had 7 NEW trucks and they have been in the shop just as much or more than this used truck

You have got to be joking.I don't see where anyone should have to pay to have a truck checked out.The seller should have done that before they put it out for sale, and when they did put it out for sale it should  be road ready. This is just a game of catch me if you can, they do all the cosmetic work to the truck, if that, and hope you won't find the rest wrong with it.

Why don't they just go over the truck the way they should in the first place and then put it in the price they want to sell it at?Why would you want to pay to do what they should do,aren't you putting out enough money to begin with just to buy the truck? This is the reason these guys do what they do because people like you think that is ok.Integrity goes along way,and I keep seeing more and more bad reports on these folks,so that says more about them than you can.

Also with the GPS thing, now we are going to assume that everyone is a crook?Under those conditions I wouldn't buy it from them in the first place.

I wish everyone the best and God Bless.

Some one doesn't know what they are talking about

AUTHOR: heavyhauler - (United States of America)

First of all you will know when i get snippy with you. Second after i purchased the truck the next morning i had the truck dynoed where they told me to take it I had to purchase it first i have all the documents to prove it, and also had an inspection done at the same time. So i did what i was told and you think you know something that you don't . Is Joe Hoovestol going to give you a better deal on your next truck to write this. And as far as Federal law you don't even have a clue you can not invade anyones privacy with a GPS UNIT without your consent . If it was legal why didn't they put it in the fine print on the contract. You can read my blog and website DO NOT BUY FROM LONE MOUNTAIN as i have 26 victims of Joe Hoovestol and LONE MOUNTAINS FRAUD ON THE OWNER OPERATORS .As far as have $10,000.00 in the bank i have $90,000.00 in the bank and have purchased a new truck .

Say hello to Joe and Andy for me you are there little puppet.

no i don't

AUTHOR: Floyd - (U.S.A.)

don't get snippy with me

no i don't work for them but only a angry little person would resort to that....

now if you hadn't been so CHEAP and had done the dyno LIKE THEY TOLD YOU TO you wouldn't be on here crying like a little baby about anything..... but no you didn't want to spend a little money to have the truck CHECKED OUT BEFORE you left with it.......    NOT THEIR FAULT you were to cheap to do YOUR do diligence and have the truck checked out.........

so if YOU HAD done the dyno you wouldn't have that truck now would you....??  so then you wouldn't be on this site going  on and on about how they sold you a bad truck....

just how much did you spend having the truck checked out.....?     i spent over $1000 having mine checked dot, dyno, and 5hr's labor at volvo having it checked, call the company that had the truck and taked to their breakdown dept to find out the breakdown history of the truck, check with volvo to see the repair history of the truck, had oil samples done on the diff's trans & engine.....

just how much IF ANY did YOU DO.....?

did you have $10,000 in your pocket after the down payment.......? every O/O will tell you that is the very minimum you need to have to start so you can cover repairs.... things can and will break and a new or used truck

and befor you say buy new i have had 7 NEW trucks and thay have all been in the shop just as much OR MORE than the 06 volvo i got from lone mountain.....

now as to the gps SO WHAT..!  in alot of states it's not illegal for a dealer to do that and i don't give a dam what YOUR lawyer tells you about the law in YOUR state.... the law in YOUR STATE doesn't count because you didn't buy the truck in YOUR STATE..... and how is it a ivasion of your privacy for them to know where the truck is if you don't make the payments so they can repo it (take your tinfoil had off)... if they didn't have gps on the truck all you would need to do is make the down payment and they would never see you again (i know if happens, i used to repo for GMAC) had people buy a new car make the down payent then it would take us 7-18 months to fine the car to repo it. so i don't blame them at all......

the only reason this happened is because you were to cheap, lazy or ignorant to do YOUR PART of having it checked out so no i don't feel sorry for you at all. it's 100% YOUR FAULT......
