Los Cabos Golf Resort, Los Cabos Association, Cabo San Lucas Country Club, golfincabo.com are all RIP-OFF companies who will damage you financially.  Beware of these fraudsters!

When traveling to Cabo years ago with a couple of friends, we wanted to play golf.  It was my first trip to Mexico and I was somewhat in awe of the place and experience. So, my guard was down...especially regarding my golfing passion.

Being naive about timeshares and practices used to sell them, we unknowingly stumbled into a trap.

We were assigned to a slick talking salesman who was "good" at what he did.  He pulled all the stops with all the techniques and high pressure sales that was foreign to me at the time.  Free beer and alcoholic drinks were encouraged by the host.

We were just wanting to play golf and he was wearing me down.  The presentation was enticing enough in my broken down state and i took the bait.  This was probably on of the worst decisions I have ever made.

Throughout the process I though I asked all the right questions including:  Can I rent the unit to help cover costs when i can't travel there?  Will the timeshare increase in value over time?  Will I be able to sell the unit easily if I decide I want to move on? Of course all my questions were answered affirmitively and all my concerns seemed satisfied. He was good at his job and made me think he was honest in his answers.  Little did I know at the time it was all lies, fraud, deceit.

So I signed and initialed papers and paid in full for the timeshare.  I was mislead into signing for 30 years!  That was 15 years ago.  I am in the process of getting affidavits from my two friends that were at the presentation with me and witnessed the entire process.  Lucky for them, they were not into golf as much as I and did not purchase.  Since i did, they got free golf anyway!

So 15 years later to the present.  I want out!  I have not been to Mexico in 10 years and will likely never go back. I have made attemps to get rid of this timeshare to no avail.  Luckily I have not fallen for the Sell Your Timeshare Scams online.  I have advertised the timeshare online personally with no results, even trying to basically give it away just to get out of it.

I have contacted Los Cabos Association (the 'front' organization) and simply wanted to give it back to them for FREE, even offering to pay the transfer fee, But they refuse to take it back.

Then (and now) I got mad!  They promised me when I was purchasing it that it would have value.  They promised me I would be able to sell it.  they told me i could easily rent it.  All lies that were absolutely confirmed by the fact they I cannot even give it back to them for free.

My timeshare in WORTHLESS.  The only purpose of it now is to enrich fraudulent gangsters who orchestrated the manipulation on me.

I refuse to pay any additional yearly maintenance fees... which have doubled!  What a scam!

So now I get to look forward to my credit being damaged by a group of crooks because i wont continue to participate in this scam for which i am the dupe?  Where are the people who are supposed to stand up for what is right and wrong?

I saw some other good people on this site that are getting scammed by this resort and company- Los Cabos Gold Resort - Los Cabos Golf Association - Cabo San Lucas Country Club - golfincabo.com.  That is why I decided to register and post my story.  There has to be a way to get justice here!  This is absolutley an unfair business practice that is protected by the way this company is set up to usurp US law and take advantage of euphoric travelers visiting unique places.

They are not going to get me for another 15 years, I am done and want out.  Someone please offer a plan to help me and the thousands of others being ripped off and scammed using fraud, manipulation, and deceit to rope unknowing well meaning people and travelers from long term financial punishement for simple making a poor decision in a highly controlled manipulative high pressure sales envirornment.

We should be able to protect ourselves from the wolves in sheeps clothing!

More people need to stand up and organize against these practices.  Whoever will rightly serve the victims of these crimes could greatly benefit finacially from the good they can do.

Thanks for reading my story!

Timeshare Companies are a SCAM

AUTHOR: DeborahM - ()

POSTED: Friday, June 27, 2014

Most timeshare companies are taking advantage of people, often those who are more vulnerable and less able to resist hard sales tactics. I have heard of many cases where maintenance costs rise well above inflation. It would appear the timeshare companies lock people into contracts and then drive up their profits though increased maintenance charges. It would be good to see legislation whereby timeshare companies can only charge "reasonable" maintenance costs and not use this annual fee to fleece people's bank accounts
