WARNING - THIS DEALERSHIP TAKES ADVANTAGE OF SENIORS!!! As much as it pains me to write this very negative review; I simply must do so in order to warn others with elderly parents to be VERY CAUTIOUS about making a car purchase at LOU FUSZ TOYOTA. I just recently learned that my elderly parents in their late 70's purchased a new vehicle from this dealership. Unfortunately I did not become aware of the matter until after they did the deed on their own. Subsequent to purchasing their new Toyota, I requested that they send me their lease paperwork for review. I routinely do this for them since I reside out of state; in order to ensure that no mistakes were made in their monetary dealings. BUT THEN THE HORROR WAS REVEALED - ELDER FRAUD AT IT'S WORST! ** LOU FUSZ OVER-CHARGED MY PARENTS BY OVER $8000. IN THIS TRANSACTION ALONE ** ** MY PARENTS NOW FEEL ROBBED, VERY TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF AND VERY VULNERABLE BECAUSE OF PREDATORS LIKE THIS**

After carefully reviewing their lease documents, I found that this dealership did the following NASTY things:

LIE / SCAM #1: The Sales Manager (actually only a salesman who had lied about his position) told them that their remaining 8 lease payments from their prior Toyota; would be wiped away clean and NOT charged against them onto their new lease. This was stated as a SPECIAL OFFER being given by Toyota; in which Toyota would pay for any remaining months up to 12 towards their new car lease. This was in fact a HUGE LIE in which the dealer actually charged them the full 8 months of payments onto their new lease instead! This was almost $4000. that they were charged onto their new lease when the amount was supposed to be forgiven by this offered promotion.

LIE / SCAM #2: The dealer charged my parents EXCESSIVE INTEREST/RENT charges on their lease amounting to almost $3400. Funny thing is that my parents were turning in another Toyota lease; with their credit tier being the same as it was now as it was on their prior lease. On their prior lease they were only charged less than $200. in total interest/rent charges. LOU FUSZ TOYOTA decided that they were going to charge whatever they felt like for their interest/rent charges - which ended up costing them an added $3400. - this on top of the $4000. over-charge mentioned in #1. So now we're up to $7400. in overages.

LIE / SCAM #3: The dealer also added additional other fees to their lease without even asking my parents - such as higher prices marked up NON-TOYOTA GAP coverage; when they simply could have charged them for the much lower priced Toyota GAP coverage. There were other add-on fees such as Theft Protection and excess wear that were simply added into the deal without them knowing as well! These additional miscellaneous fees were around $700, over and above the $7400 mentioned in #2.

I immediately contacted the general manager of the dealership and left him multiple messages by telephone over the course of a week. It was not until a week had passed that he finally decided to call me back; stating that he didn't even have to speak to me since this was my parents deal. I asked him to get their permission by telephone, which he did and then he called me back after such. He then proceeded to be rude and condescending to my complaints to him about TAKING ADVANTAGE OF MY SENIOR PARENTS; to which he responded that they were fully aware of all of these charges. I explained to him that they in fact were NEVER made aware of these over-charges; and that my parents do not ever lie to anyone - and he basically dismissed my concerns over any of these issues. He further indicated that he was un-willing to make ANY CONCESSIONS or gestures of good will towards my parents transaction. I informed him that he was MAKING A HUGE MISTAKE ignoring these concerns; and that I would be fighting on behalf of my elderly parents moving forward on this matter.

I have contacted the following agencies and suggest anyone in a similar circumstance do the same. DO NOT allow dealers like this to take advantage of our SENIORS - IT'S SIMPLY DISGUSTING THAT THEY HAVE ZERO CARE OR ACCOUNTABILITY! ** UPDATE - LOU FUSZ DID THE RIGHT THING & RESOLVED THIS ISSUE! **

I received a call from the dealership management to inform me that they have decided to REFUND a portion of what my parents felt were over-charges to them. After having a lengthy discussion with the dealer, they now have accepted to make my elderly parents satisfied about the costs that they were initially charged by providing them with a concessionary refund. We appreciate the fact that they have now understood our position; by promptly reacting to my folks with an offer to provide a satisfactory refund amicable to both parties.

** THANK YOU LOU FUSZ TOYOTA FOR MAKING THIS RIGHT **

Hearsay

While it is possible your parents got ripped off, everything you have posted would be considered hearsay because you were not there during the transaction and you are getting everything "second hand".

But if you are so concerned about your parents why do you review their legally binding contracts AFTER they sign them?  If you do this often for them why don't you do it BEFORE they sign the documents?

This point is very obvious when you talk about your lie #1.  You are saying that them adding in the last 8 months of lease payments into the new lease costs them about an extra $4000.   That calculates out to a lease payment of about $500/month..for a Toyota.  You can get a lease on a high end luxury car for less than that, you could even have purchased the car outright for a monthly payment significantly lower.  So where were you when they signed this "f"lease?

Then we get to lie number two..which is actually quite related to what you are calling lie number 1.  You stated..

On their prior lease they were only charged less than $200.

Yes, and they were also being charged close to $500/month on their lease.  Dealers get their money one way or another.  What the reduced in fees, they added to the monthly payment...oh and I really hope you don't come back and say that your parents are paying MORE than $500/month now.

Look I get that you want to care for your parents.  But you are looking at this issue when the problem sounds like it is much deeper and much farther back with the previous lease.  So unless you are going to claim that your parents are mentally incompetent to enter into any financial dealings, they are adults and with their age should have experience and the knowledge that before they sign any legal document they should read and understand what they are signing.  So in that respect the dealer was right.
