Mac Trader Store MacTrader.netMex Cell Ltd I saw a Craig's List add for a Nikon D800 for a thousand dollars less than retail. When I googled the website for more information or reviews, I couldn't find anything on them. Then I noticed the name Mex Cell Ltd on the internet tab in my browser, so I googled that and found these complaints. BEWARE. West Valley City Utah

I noticted a CL add in SC for a store located in UT.  It claims that I can buy a Nikdon D800 for about $1000 less than retail.  When I googled the company, I couldn't find anything... nothing.  Then I noticed in the tab of my browser it said, Mex Cell Ltd.  That's when I found these reports on Rip Off.

I also called the neighboring business by looking up the address on google.  They had never heard of Mac Trader, so I am very suspicious of this being a scam.  Beware!

I purchased a Macbook 15.4 retina for $1,200 and payed though paypal, they gave me a tracking number that was bogus

It was never shipped or picked up, I tried calling them from the number they called me on and it was disconnected,  so I am waiting for paypal to refund my money. Stay away from mactrader.net they are scammers.

More evidence against Mac Trader

First, everyone should understand there is a real and legit Mac Traders in Utah. However, the company in this  warning is a one Mac Trader (minus the S), also claiming to be in Utah.

I too was sent a link via CL to the website, mactrader.net. On the website it lists their physical address as:

Mac Trader Store
REDWOOD BUSINESS PARK
2850 S Redwood Rd. Unit 12
West Valley City UT 84119

Since their pricing seemed to good to be true, I looked up the Property Management Company for the Redwood Business Park at 2850 S Redwood Rd in West Valley City UT. They are managed by Berkeley Properties. I inquired about the tentant who claims to be in Unit 12. I was informed that there are multiple buildings at 2850 S Redwood Rd, beginning with A and ending with C. Therefore there would not be a Unit 12, rather there would be an A12, B12 or C12. Of those three, Berkeley Properties said none of them are selling cameras or computers and that they have not heard of a Mac Trader Store.

Further evidence was the phone number I was given for their store:801-610-6407. It is registered in Utah, but when I called it the connecting time was long and the connection to the person on the other end was very poor, especially for intercontinental phones. It sounded to me as if 801-610-6407 is being forwarded to another country.

Also, I examined the whois information for their website. It is registered to a Mr. Nguyen in Kuala Lumpur. Incidentally it was Mr. Nguyen who answered my phone call. The whois information has since been marked as private.

The conversation I had with Mr. Nguyen regarding this rock bottom pricing was odd. He informed me that they offer such great prices because they do not pay any taxes to the IRS, including business taxes and such. He said they do not have to pay taxes until they are ordered by a court. haha. He further said they buy from manufacturers in bulk,  as much as 4,000 pieces at once; and because of established relations with manufacturers they get great pricing. When asked about the lack of reviews and such regarding Mac Trader, he said it was because they were new. For me, that does not jive since if they are new, how have they established relationships with manufactures?!

Another bit of evidence is regarding this picture, mactrader.net/images/223249_2107577408038_6206428_n.jpg, on their catalog page (mactrader.net/catalog.html). It is a photo of G&G Cellular Plus road sign. I have no clue why they posted it on their site, but G&G Cellular Plus has a warning from the BBB regarding people buying electronics at extremeley cheap prices, but never seeing a thing delivered.

In my opinion, this is a scam. Although tempted to try, with the protections of my credit card, my better sense says to stay away.
