Madison Jewelers Watch Out-They steal your diamond and replace it with a CZ!! Virginia Beach Virginia

I had always been told you never let your rings leave your fingers, even to have a jeweler clean them.  I made an exception and made that mistake at Madison Jewelers on Providence Road in Virginia Beach in the Fall of 2012.  It has taken me this long to figure out how to report them somewhere.

I was there with a friend who was selling some gold.  The man in charge of the buying seemed very nice.  My granddaughter was with us and they had a dog that she just loved.  The salespeople seemed very polite and friendly.

I asked if they could clean my rings.  I put them on the counter as there were no other customers in the store at that time.  I kept an eye on them, but then my granddaughter started to cry and I moved her out of the store, not wanting to disrupt people working.  When I came back in, the gentleman who was in charge of buying gold was looking at my  diamond ring.  He said, "You know this isn't a diamond, right?"  I said it most definitely is a diamond.  He said no, it's a CZ.

I left that store and went directly to another jeweler who said the same thing: a CZ.  When I got home I realized that the stone was no longer secure; when you shook the ring, the stone jiggled in its setting.

My father had this ring made for my mother when I was 9 years old.  The stone was my great Aunt's.  As a young teenager I remember the conversations obout where the flaw was in the stone and looking at it under a magnifying glass.  The ring had been created by Saffian and Rudolph on Jeweler's Row in Philadelphia, PA.  I've been on numerous cruises and have had the jewelry people on the ship admire the ring and tell me it was a beautiful diamond, not a CZ!

I KNOW that they switched the stone there at Madison's Jewelers.  I want to warn people about their practice.  I also have to wonder if they stole my diamond, destroying a family heirloom, do they pass off CZs as diamonds to others? 

So beware of Madison Jewelers and unfortunately, I would warn others to beware of having any jeweler taking their rings to be cleaned.  Like I said, these people seemed nice from outward appearances.  But they were actually wolves in sheep's clothing!!
