Bought a $700 system fro a client that was to be delivered between Christmas 2013 and New Years 2014.
The system was ordered and shipped within that time period and adrrived 12/27/2013.
The computer was defective. No power, not reponse, and working with Tech Support, reached a common understanding that the computer was defective and that I woul dneed to ship it back, at my cost.
I talked to customer service and worked out a call tag for the computer and set about having to reorder. The salesperson said that they could not make another compauter becuase they were out of Solid State Drives and the Motherboard I had ordered. Since it was close to New Years, they would not be able to get the parts until Mid January at the earliest, then build the compauter and then ship it. This meant an expected delivery dat at the end of January. This would exceed my time frame for my cleint.
I asked for a refund and shipping lables for the defective computer from their Customer Service. Two days later, the CS agent let me know that they "can't" send shipping labels and any refund will happen AFTER the computer arrives at their warehouse and is determined to be defective.
I called my Credit Card company to let them know that Magic Micro was unable to give me a credit on my account and seemed unlikey to do so once they recive their defective merchandise back.
The CC Company filed a complaint and got me $526 of the original $700 back. I called the CC company to ask what the $175 was for. They had a 3-way call with the vendor who informed them and me that they do not refund shipping (fair enough - real shipping was $22/each way or a total of $44) AND a 15% restocking fee.
Magic Micro stated that the computer was sent back for repair. I stated that it was sent back because it was dead on arrival and when they could not meet the now nearly impossible timeline, I had to buy a different coputer from a different company. THe vendor stated that I "found a cheaper computer is why i returned it" but the CC company stated that I acutally bought the computer for $60 more.
Anyways, the CC company said that they will try to help me recover the remainder which I think $100 is fair since restocking defective parts is just a scam to make money on their bad products.
