A few weeks ago I answered the door at about 5:30 p.m. to a youngish black woman and man selling subscriptions to earn points in order to further their education. I was familiar with the spiel because I'd supported it on past occasions. I do not remember the name of the distributor but I had always received the magazines I ordered.
This time I had no interest in getting magazines again, so I made a gift to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore - a Sesame Street publication and an Encyclopedia - to the tune of $288.00. I questioned the rep, Lakesha Wilson, about the wording on the receipt and she assured me I could track the delivery on their website and even receive a tax donation.
Unfortunately, I ignored my intuition and did not cancel the check...even though it took them 3 weeks to cash it. When it did go through, I went to the website to 'track' delivery...with no luck! I messaged them through the website and though I received a response, it wasn't at all satisfactory.
I feel like I've been scammed, but I will continue to follow up. Buyer beware!!

This is not a rebuttal, but an update on the report I filed last night. After several back and forth emails with Mailbox Media, they have stated they will refund my money. I will give them the benefit of the doubt because they didn't have to respond at all if it were a complete scam. As I mentioned in my initial report, I had supported this type of door to door sale in the past and had always received what I paid for. This time I wanted to donate the subscription and that's what caused problems - maybe a communication misunderstanding between myself and the salesperson, or with her and Mailbox Media.
Whatever...they said they would rectify the matter. I will post another update when I receive the refund.
