Manor House Builders Son on Board of HOA imposing unnecessary fines on community members at carriage hill!! Hagerstown Maryland

First let's start with the first day of down payment. The model h*e which is a food the street from my home was beautifully landscaped. Now, one would assume that if the model home can have mulch and a custom landscape then of course anyone in the community should. Wrong assumption!. First let's cut to around May 16th when I proceeded to remove the dead plants the builders landscaper installed, if you want to call this group landscapers. They roots were not only dressed with 8 inches of gravel but surrounded and sitting on 3 foot of hard packed road gravel!

Now, I'm no rocket scientist but my thirty plus years of working for my dad in landscaping taught me how to really do a landscaping. I set out removing all the hundreds of pounds of gravel and built a proper retaining wall and flower bed in front. I spent a long weekend doing so as well as over 100. Dollars in plants. Now comes the part that had me literally fuming! I get a notice on my door to remove said plants and wall and ordered to put it back to original or suffer fines! I come to find out the Builders son is on the HOA board and a lawyer to boot. He refuses to bend on anything and to further lay fuel to the fire, he saya I have stains on my driveway that if not removed will result in fines as well!

I don't know about you but stains are inevitable on black stop or concrete and rust isn't easy to remove and is going to reappear. Now, what has me fuming more is that other groups of homes in the community have mulch as well as what I call hideous landscaping. The builders son told me that exceptions were made for the builders sales home. Yet he enforces the rules he made exception for himself to on others! he claims that I will impact home value to the negative by not conforming to the crap they put in on other homes. If anything, the value of the homes are depreciated by what they have done and I only appreciated my own property.

I warn anyone thinking of buying from this builder. My ducts smack and pop every time the air kicks on and this happens after the 1 year warranty ended. they are great at cosmetic cover up but that can only go so far before nail pops come up all over the home. thank god I am a carpenter as well so I can fix all the crap they did wrong. Again, steer clear of this builder at all cost. They have new communities popping up all over maryland, west va, south carolina to name a few. Best to find a more prestigious home builder such as Dan Ryan with whom I had bought another home and was totally impressed with. I wish I never bought from Manor House Builders!!
