I received a call from a Lady who said her name was Sylvia, from Market Force, at 5 pm on a wednesday evening in august 2008. She said she had a desperate need to have someone shop at the Mc Donalds near my house on The next day, Thursday Morning. She needed someone to go there between 7 and 9 am, "could I possibly help her out?". I would be paid 18.00 plus up to 15.00 for reimbursement of food. I said O.K. She said she would email me with the particulars.

I worked on my computer for an hour downloading all the instructions. I signed a private contract with them. The next morning I went to Mc Donalds, Did what I was supposed to do and then worked another hour filling out the paperwork and sending it to them.

Three days later I was sent an email which said that they would not pay me because " It took one full minute to place my order". What the Heck! Well excuse me. I don't usually eat at Mc Donalds and had to read the menu. That was the last I heard from them.
I got stuck for 12.00 in food I couldn't eat. I don't like this type of food.

You get paid for producing a valid report

AUTHOR: brbr2424 - ()

I've been a contractor with Marketforce for three years. Marketforce contracts with shoppers who report to them and they in turn report back to the client. If you don't follow the scenerio the report can't be sent along to the client and they don't get paid for it. The shop you are referring to is one where the client cares about exact timing including seconds. The paperwork also lists the specific choices you can order. You can't order anything you want from the menu. They give you choices that take about the same amount of time to make. Like any shops regardless of the company, you need to review the paperwork and decide what you are going to order before you attempt the shop so that your choosing a meal doesn't become an unintentional factor.

It's frustrating to not get paid because the scenerio wasn't followed. It's happened to me a couple of times. Also, there is a learning curve with any new shop and you have to carefully read the instructions. Once you get the hang of a shop you can make money with little effort.

Market Force has been an excellent company

AUTHOR: iamme - ()

I have been shopping for Market Force since 2007.    I have completeled between 500 to 1000 shops for them.    I can not think of any time where I have had problems getting shops, paid, etc.    The periodic time I had an issue, got it resolved to mine and MF satisfaction.   I do many shops for thKe now.    I welcome their schedulers to call, which they do and offer nice bonuses for some deadline shops.    I have referred many friends to them. I have done shops across several states.   I have gone on long distance shopping.   I am happy to do that anytime.  I would recommend Market Force to anyone.   They are among the best and reliable companies I have dealt with.   Thank you

Market Force is Hiding from Accountability

AUTHOR: Yohan - ()

I too have been a multi-year shopper for Market Force (4 years) but then suddenly and without explanation,  got cut off from being offered shops of the business I had been most active with (over 100 successfully completed shops.)  I wrote to ask why and instead of being given any kind of an explanation, the form letter said that to tell me why might reveal their most proprietary secrets of how they do business -- and I shouldn't expect them to  do that now, should I?  What a bunch of HORSE CR*P!  If an employer fires a longstanding, loyal and hardworking employee from an account, that employee deserves AT LEAST some explanation as to why...i.e. did the employee do something wrong?  Was it some kind of cutback in the workforce due to expenses?  Was it some client limitation restricting how many shops any one shopper could do of their business?  What the hell was it?  But to just cut your loyal workforce who has worked their tail off for you for years and rarely if ever even been paid the equivalent of minimum wage -- and offer no explanation -- is truly LOW CLASS, BAD FORM, DISRESPECTFFUL, DECEITFUL and downright ABUSIVE.  The reason they would not tell me is because they are HIDING what is in truth, an abusive practice in dealing with shoppers as real human beings but they don't want to admit it or let their dirty laundry be seen by all. This is BAD MANAGEMENT and BAD POLICY because you just don't treat your workforce this way, especially when a simple explanation for the firing versus HIDING your reasons from them, could satisfy the ex-employee and prevent them from turning against your company to talk negatively about you for years after and in a public way -- as in this forum.  Market Force has yanked me around in other very rude and painful ways in times past but I was willing to give them a pass if they came back with significant bonus pay on subsequent shops they desperately needed to get done in my area.  And to their credit, they -- unlike some shop providers -- would on occasion pay up more than their starting offers (i.e. starting pay which usually doesn't amount to peanuts and won't even cover transportation expenses much less compensate you fairly for your work or time.)  But then to turn around and treat your employees who have come to your rescue many times and treat them like they matter nothing or were just garbage to be thrown out without explanation -- is just plain WRONG and is going to turn around and bite them in the behind.  So SHOPPERS BEWARE!  Market Force can absolutely be cruel and treat you like DUNG for no other reason than their own bad management and lack of respect for independant contractors who to them are as dispensible as toilet paper.  And they will wipe their behinds with you if you let them.

Bitter Boston

AUTHOR: Jazz - ()

Oh, don't pay attention to bitter Boston.  He is full of negativity and is an unhappy person in general, it appears.  If you don't agree with his opinion of Marketforce, he will accuse you of being a Marketforce employee.  Marketforce doesn't have time to send people in here to make fake posts, I am sure.  They don't pay their employees to go around, search message boards, and reply to every disgruntled shopper that they have terminated.  I am not sure that they would even care what Boston thinks.

I am sure that they gave Boston a reason for termination.  Maybe some people did get chopped from them undeservedly.  I just know that I am glad to still be working for them and if it makes me happy that's my business, not Boston's.  What Boston doesn't understand is that shoppers who have been doing this awhile are still doing it for a reason--we know how to follow instructions so that the companies want to give us more work, and the better you get at it the easier it is to negotiate higher pay.

I live in an area where there are lots of shops of all different kinds.  Some kinds of shops I hold out for higher pay, since when they can't find someone to fill them they add bonuses.  If Boston did not like $7 shops then why in the world did he do them?  I know that when shoppers first start out they kind of have to take what they can get to prove themselves and it's a good way to "cut teeth" and learn how to do the shops, but after it's been shown that they are good and reliable shoppers, the pay gets better.

I refuse to do the golden arches fast food shops for several reasons.  The timings are difficult and I don't really enjoy the food there, not to mention that they don't pay well.  Even with bonuses I won't do them unless the bonuses are really, really high.  There are a few other burger chains that MF shops where I really do enjoy the food.  At any rate, mystery shopping is no way to get rich and pay all the bills, but there are some good perks and if you aren't counting on the money to live, it's a lot of fun and rewarding to do!

HOW CAN YOU JUDGE?

AUTHOR: BHINNJ - ()

I am not an employee, but an Independent Contractor who accepts assignments from Market Force. I beg to differ with you, but it was not an extraordinary amount of work to earn over four hundred dollars. I could have earned a lot more if I put more time into it, which I chose not to. Like I said, I work when I want to and as much or as little as I want. How can you possibly judge my statements when you do not even know me?.

40 companies

AUTHOR: Jazz - ()

I signed up with way more than 40 companies, but I only work on a regular basis for 40 of them.  Go to the MSPA (mystery shopping provider's association) website.

http://www.mysteryshop.org/shopper

It's kind of like the better business bureau of mystery shopping.  All of the companies who are MSPA registered are reputable.  Some who are not MSPA registered are reputable too, I am not saying it's mandatory, but that's a good place to find companies who aren't scams.  Another great source is to go to volition.com

You will learn alot about other ways to get information about mystery shopping companies.  And yes, you do have to follow instructions to the T. You have to make sure that if you accept an assignment you had better complete it on time and submit it on time, and double check for spelling and grammatical errors.  I have an average of a 10 rating on a scale of 1-10 with nearly all of the companies I shop with (some of them I have a 9 rating because they have super critical editors!).  I have only ever been ripped off once and not been paid by a company, and that company was Franchise Compliance.  They stole money from a whole bunch of shoppers and went out of business.  It's a good idea to check the mystery shopper forums and read what other shoppers have to say about companies.  Volition has a forum, and you could also check out this link for topics about mystery shopping and what other shoppers have to say.

Good luck!

AUTHOR: Donnady - ()

I appreciate all the feedback that everyone has written here. It has given me a better picture of what the job actually entails. Before i gave my ssn on the form i realized that I better research this company. I am looking into it to earn some money and have read all of these posts. It sounds like it is hit or miss in terms of the experiences people have had. The common theme seems to be, follow the directions to the letter. When you say you work for 40 companies I don't understand how you find the ones that are reputable. They all seem like scams. If I go with them I hope I am one of the ones defending them on this page.

NO PROBLEMS

AUTHOR: BHINNJ - ()

I have been working as an Independent Contractor for Market Force since January 2013. I have had no problems getting paid for shops I performed correctly. There were 2 that I did not get paid for and it was my own fault.  I shopped at the wrong time and I didn't follow directions closely. In three months, I have made over $400.00 and received over $150.00 in reimbursements. The majority of my reimbursements are in the form of dinners or groceries.  I certainly cannot complain about that.

I only take jobs when my schedule allows and when they are close to home.  I don't push myself. I am retired and do it for some extra spending cash. It is definitely possible to make over $800.00 in three months if you are aggressive.  I just choose to leave more time for myself.  This is perfect for me.  I do not work for their HR Department and I will be the first to post here when and if I am treated unfairly.  One last note,  - I do work for 3 other Mystery Shopping Companies.  Market Force definitely pays better and they do not 'nitpick' reports like some other companies do.

Still a MF Fan

AUTHOR: Cestmoi2007 - ()

Once again - I will never try and tell someone who feels as strong as they do they shouldn't feel that way but I have never had 1 iota of an issue with MF and I have been with them for some time and done a lot of visits for them. I have been paid for every single report. I had an issue with a report - I stated my case - and they agreed I was right and paid me for it. I have made mistakes and not been paid for the report but the few times it happened I was wrong and I accepted responsibility for my actions. I am a big fan of MF

@cest If you do research and take off your rose colored glasses you might be able to see the truth.

Some of us know when we are being taking advantage of or being treated like crap and refuse to take it lightly because we are more than that. Market force has for a FACT made a habit of going here and commenting up the place from a undisclosed location in NewYork and a few other areas. This is not the only place they have been called out for doing so. Enjoy your time working for them because like the others in this thread your time will expire and you will be just another price of garbage to them if they don't consider you one already. If you like supporting this kind of conduct your making a deal with the devil.

Akron, OHIO

AUTHOR: Jazz - ()

Hey Boston, I live in Akron, Ohio.  I do not live in New York.  Marketforce is in Atlanta, GA.  I know you probably were skipping geography class and doing things that obviously messed up your brain instead of studying, but since you are on the Internet so regularly, why don't you look it up for yourself?

Zoohoo, sorry you had trouble with Marketforce and if you read my post properly, you will see that I said most of the people whining in here are illiterate.  You, apparently, are not.  I don't know what happened to you with Marketforce or why it happened, but I still think they are a good company.  I shop for approximately 40 different companies and have never been terminated by any of them.  I am an MSPA gold certified shopper and this is my only source of income, so I take it very seriously.  I have been a shopper since 2001, and a shopper with MarketForce for about 8 years.  Sorry your circumstances were different and hopefully you won't experience any problems with other companies.  Good luck with your shopping career!

Post #49: K - I am not a MF "Employee". I shop for them making me an Independent Contractor. I 100% stand behind all i said - LOVE company as you can see Post #50 by Jazz confirms his appreciation for them.

K: I am glad you don't like them and are not doing stuff for them because that means one less person competing for shops in my area - I live in SoCal. You are entitled to your opinion just like I am mine. Mine carries a lot more "weight" than yours does because of how long I have been doing this and as many visits and companies I have worked for and do work for.........Just wondering - do you Mystery Shop for any other companies or did the MF result turn you off from the entire industry?

I am so glad that you are Mrs Prefer and have to report to the company on what is going on here. I am so glad that you have to write a complete paragraph letting everyone know that you can speak and write better English than all of us.

I also have worked for Marketforce and I did the all the complete instructions to a TEE. I never got written concerning my report being wrong and I always received payment for my monthly shops.  I was going very well with shops from Marketforce for 5 years.

One day, I went to get into my account and it had been deleted. I wrote to them and asked them why and they sent me a form letter saying that they need shoppers who are not always negative and not always positive, but give a variety of reports. I worked for them for 5 years and nothing of this sort was ever mentioned to me.  They just wanted new shoppers because this also happened to my sister who lives in another state who had also been working with this company for a long time. I am not sure if this is a proper way to treat an employee who has been working for them as long as I have. Just delete their account and give me a form letter.
I have started working for other secret shops and I am on of their best shoppers.  So Marketforce lost out when they got rid me me.  I found this site just because I was wondering if others had experience what I have and they have.

Since you are such a wonderful shopper and I hope that you don't get deleted but if you do, just remember that you have been warned.

PROLLY IS NOT A WORD

AUTHOR: Jazz - ()

I have been watching this thread and find it really amusing that the disgruntled portion of the people who post in here think that anyone who actually is an employee of Marketforce would take the time to even bother responding to any of the negative comments written.  I am a mystery shopper with Marketforce.  I have no problems with this company and I get paid for my work, because I follow instructions to the tee.  I wrote Marketforce through their helpdesk feature and told them about what was going on in here.  They wrote me a reply thanking me for notifying them about it but that they had a list of independent contractors who had to be terminated for NOT FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS PROPERLY.  Just like I thought.  Follow instructions to the tee and you won't get terminated.

By the way, "Prolly" is not a word.  Look it up in the dictionary.  Actually, the thing that drives me crazy about the people who are in here whining about not getting paid is how they are willing to publicly embarrass themselves by writing so poorly and showing off their illiteracy.  How shameful to allow people to read how ignorant you are.  In this country, English is our native language.  We only have the one currently, though I imagine one day Spanish will make it to a secondary language in the US.  There are people in other countries who know two or three languages fluently, including English, and they have better grammar, spelling, and punctuation than most of the whiners in here.  My point is, if you want to be taken seriously, try writing in a manner that educated people can understand and your constant complaining might not be dismissed so easily.

LOVE MarketForce

AUTHOR: Cestmoi2007 - ()

Sorry to hear about the OP problem. I have been Mystery Shopping for over 15 years and have done well over 2,000 visits. I have shopped for too many companies to count. I haven't had many issues with those I have dealt with but I have had some problems along the line. I HAVE NEVER HAD A SINGLE PROBLEM AT ALL WITH MARKETFORCE - NOT ONE! I do a handful or so shops for them every month and have done well over 400 shops for them since signing up. The next time a shop of mine is "refused" and I don't get paid for it will be the first time.

MarketForce is by far the best company I have ever dealt with. I have refereed too many friends to count to them and NOT ONE has had a problem. I have had reports that needed some clarification before being submitted to the client but once I did that the shops was accepted and I was paid. I love shopping for them and consider myself truly fortunate to say that. Sorry to hear Susan had a problem but as someone who does work for them and won't hesitate to do work for them any time they call I can't line up on the opposite side here if I wanted to. MarketForce is THE VERY BEST!

I am happy with Market Force

AUTHOR: Trish - ()

I have been working with Market Force since 2008, and have never had any problems being paid on assignments that I have completed CORRECTLY!.  If you do not closely follow the instructions, you do not get paid for them.  It's that simple!

I believe that before you are even allowed to sign up to become a shopper, there is a description of what will be expected of you.  This includes proper use of capitalization and punctuation, as well as accurate and detailed reporting.  Based on your report here, that may have been the problem?

As I stated before, I have never had a problem receiving my pay from them.  Last month I made $297, and this month it will be closer to $600.  I guess you are paid depending on the amount of effort you put into doing it correctly.

untrusted when pay gets high

AUTHOR: martyshopper - (United Kingdom)

ALL these people giving negative feedback at people having their complaints will finally realise what this company is like. I thought for months i was in a good thing. But the month i finally made alot of money my account was deactivated. i called and never got a decent answer, basically told me they could not say why but because i used different divices to access my account. So they said i must of gave someone my details. i replied it was different ip addresses becauses i use my phone and pc to access. they replied we cannot disscuss why we disconnect people. i was never paid my hundreds of pounds.

After filing complaints i found out staff that worked at the place in the office previously have also complained and said the place is run like a zoo.

It is great to make some money, but beware because i never had any report problems then all of a sudden cut of with no pay like a lot of staff.

Be careful!!!!!!!!

PS the lasy i spoke to was also sylvia and she was very rude on the phone, i was shocked as the whole time working for them i thought they were a big company, but turns out they have no customer skills, they were very rude and hung up when i never questioned my pay.

Account also taken away from me

AUTHOR: zoohooz - (United States of America)

This also happened to me.  I worked for Marketforce for over 5 years and hardly ever got a job rejected. Whenever they would call me at the last minute to ask me to do a shop, I always did it. One day I tried to get into my account and my account had been deactivated.  I wrote to them and asked them why and they sent me the same letter that you got.

This same thing happened to my sister who lives in another state.  So those of you that pat yourself on the back, beware.  This is a company that will totally deactivate your account without you doing anything wrong.  Like I said, I worked for them for 5 years and then one day I was gone.

I just received an e-mail invitation to become a shopper for Market Force from a Mr. Kevin Master and the e-mail looked like every other e-mail I get almost everyday asking for me to become a secret shopper. If this company is legit, why can they send a nice e-mail with logos and pictures and not just a simple e-mail that looks like someone wrote in a foreing country.

After reading all the posts from several of the "not too happy" shoppers I don't think I'm convinced this Market Force is a reputable business. Most of the post that say something nice about Market Force seem like written by Market Force people trying to "clean their act"

Thanks to the internet and to all of you who have posted your experiences... I think I will take my business somewhere else.

To clear up the confusion regarding "Certified", Certified is part of Market Force that does theatre checks and merchandising for many different retail stores.  The merchandising is not mystery shopping, but some of the theatre checks are and some are not.

You are also an independent contractor for Certified.

My experience with Market Force has been good

AUTHOR: SueJ - (United States of America)

I have been working as an independent contractor for Market Force for about 10 years.  I have not been paid for only 2 shops and both were my own fault.  I neglected to read all of the instructions.

Market Force reports are the easiest to complete of any company I work for.  The questions are multiple choice and there is very little narrative.  If you read the instructions, follow them and get your receipts or proof of the visit, you will be a successful independent contractor.  This goes for any mystery shopping company.  I work for approximately 25 other companies.

Mystery shopping is work.  It is a job.  I have had several friends who want to do it because it sounds like a "fun" way to make extra money.  It does sound like fun until you take on several jobs, print your paperwork, read and study the instructions, drive to the location, do the job and then go home and scan your receipts and fill out the report.  There is a fair amount of time involved so for those that try mystery shopping because they think it is fun and easy will find out soon that it is a job and needs to be taken seriously.  So with this in mind, mystery shopping is just for certain people that pay attention to detail, prepare themselves for the job and keep in mind that it is a real job.

Some companies rely on these reports for employee recognition, pay raises or bonus pay.  If an employee gets a bad report they can use this information to help the employee.  This is one reason that accuracy is so very important.

It is unfortunate that people have had bad experiences with this company.  The McDonald jobs are some if the longest and the most difficult, but they have gotten much easier in the past couple of years.  They used to include many different timings and gathering of employees names and descriptions.  They also included narrative explanations.

MarketForce aka Certified is a no good organization

AUTHOR: ____ - (United States of America)

Anyone can become an Independent Contractor for MarketForce. Anyone will find out the hard way that MarketForce is just for certain people.    Thus one poster out there has always got to reply to posts like   above  and  write otherwise.....but overall,  what that poster is writing positively concerning MarketForce is simply not true. It has nothing to do with anyone as an individual,    but it is quite possible that someone behind the above e mails written in more than three posts by the same person might be a particular person that MarketForce is good for. Overall,   in the sense of the word MarketForce hasn't got its act together as it comes down to employee retention  as shown in a lot of cases.

RE: grammar?

AUTHOR: Jazz - (United States of America)

It stands to reason that those who don't write well probably don't read very well, either.  If you have problems reading guidelines than you are probably not following instructions correctly.  Maybe you should brush up by taking some adult reading comprehension courses...either that, find another line of work that is better suited for your personal skill level.

Doesnt' got it together?

AUTHOR: Jazz - (United States of America)

For the person who keeps writing "doesn't got it together" that is poor grammar and makes no sense whatsoever.  Also, you state that everybody who is an independent contractor gets terminated, but that simply isn't true.  I work for approximately 40 different mystery shopping companies, including Market Force, as an independent contractor, and I have never been terminated by any of them.  That is because I write coherently, using correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar, but more importantly, I follow directions and guidelines correctly.  As to your saying that I am an employee of Market Force...I live in Ohio and I think they are in Georgia somewhere.  I am not sure.  I only do a handful of shops for them a month, but I have been doing shops for them for over 8 years and they don't have any problems with me, apparently, since I am still able to get shops with them.

Part of growing up is accepting responsibility for one's actions.  Instead of trying to accuse others for your own shortcomings, why don't you take a good look at yourself and try to figure out what the problem is.

I have never had any problems getting paid. To the person who posted on 11/12...you wrote that they are a company "who doesn't got it together." If you submit reports using grammar like that, it stands to reason that they would not want you shopping for them and would likely reject your reports! I noticed that most of the people who posted negatively about Marketforce had poor writing skills. Hmm, wonder if there is a connection between not writing well and having reports rejected?

Market force they just use private contractors for their convenience

AUTHOR: Carlyn mccabe - (U.S.A.)

I worked for market force as a private contractor for about 1 year, they gave me such great jobs,Audits at Shop rite and K-mart,mystery assignments at Five Guys, Shop rite, a few at Subway.
Than all of a sudden i was taken off their list and was advised they did not get my receipts and I was cancelling too many jobs.
the cancellations were due to inclement weather one was the hurricaine last year!!!There was also a death in my family.

Marketforce just wants you for a certain amount of time,I was doing the audits in shop rite and K mart. The manager at Shop rite thanked me on several occassions for my excellent audit and the manager at K-Mart thanked me for my professionalism.
Market force only wants you for a certain amount of time and than they start coming up with excuses. They did get my recipts many times I had to refax but they did get them.

Market force uses individuals when they had enough of you they come up with their convenient excuses so they get another person to do the audit or mystery shop whatever it may be.
Companies like market force are rich and make out great!! They get us to do the work, than when they had enough of you they come up with their excuuses.
Market force is the result of a rich comapany that uses people. yOU CANNNOT DEPEND ON MARKETFORCE FOR ANY FINANCIAL GAIN.

Many private contractors have complained about the same thing,Market force only wants s you for a certain amount of time. Don't waste your time unless you just need a little extra cash.

Read and follow directions.

AUTHOR: radiowadog - (United States of America)

As a Market Force contracted shopper since January 2012, I have completed several dozen shops and never had any payments withheld. The key to success is to read their instructions very carefully and then follow them.
Mystery shopping depends on being very observant and very precise. Companies like McDonald's need all shoppers to behave the same way so that the data are more valuable. So we are told to be prepared, know what we are going to order, pay in cash, and use a digital device to time various events exactly to the second.
A new shopper may find it difficult to remember to do everything asked for. For example, in my first McDonald's shop, I forgot to ask for a receipt at the drive-in. But after a few shops at a particular chain, one gets used to the process. It gets easier the more you do.

And you should not contract to evaluate food you "couldn't eat". You must evaluate the food to submit an accurate report.

interesting postsi discovered concerning Marketforce. Certified(jerks)

AUTHOR: ____ - (United States of America)

I noticed not one rebuttal from Certified(jerks) is posted here. it goes to prove the way they handle problems with cheapness and sleaze . I  found out. I wouldn't be surprised at that no reaction as proven here.
I was one of their victims but not recently as before the name was changed to Marketforce. same crap I suspect.   I didn't perform mystery shops although . I did auditing in Strawberries, BJs, Circuit City etc. and some theater checking.
This company is so lousy I can't believe they are still in business. anyone that writes they are good is an employee of theirs I suspect under a phony name too. I typically was paid a flat rate of 8 to 10 dollars. it took longer to download, read and waste ink with their paperwork than it took to complete their sleazy projects. that said, too many questions are asked to fill out with their online audits and the pay didn't appropriately reflect that.
After being used to complete and on time a number of audits, I was abruptly blocked from taking more projects. as I tried to talk to someone for a satisfactory explanation. I was rudely discarded by some nut name . Taylor was the last. I wouldn't be sure of her first name as it was a while before, a real b*ch at that . I suspect others are just like her. her sleazy explanation was that I didn't wear some foolish collared shirt. I can't believe it as they come from New York and I suspect were into sneakiness to be a pain concerning that craziness as I was bending and reaching for the work needed to be done. in dusty locations. so that was the appreciation I got. and I never heard from those sleazeballs any longer. I was paid in a lump sum as the pay was delayed forever until my I-9 forms were processed. bullsh*. rotten company . zero employee satisfaction. rude. crazy, and cheap as it comes. So there you have a real testimonial.

Read the Guidelines

AUTHOR: Diane - (United States of America)

Market Force was the first company I ever worked for. I have completed and been paid for hundreds of shops for them since 2008. I have had a few instances that lead to quality control contacting me for answers. Never had any problems with fixing anything. In all the years I've worked with them, I have only not been paid twice and both times were my fault. Again I have done 3-400 or more shops for Marketforce. They always pay on time and I can depend on always finding shops on their job board. If you read the guidelines you will always know exactly what to do or what to order. If a McChicken does come in an extra value meal, you nor the order taker can create one because that is not following the clients (McDonalds) guidelines. Market Force cannot pay you if the client does not accept your report. Be more careful about understanding what is expected.

proof that following instructions isn't all they want

AUTHOR: hibirdie - (United States of America)

Market Force refused to pay me because they claimed that I did not wait at the counter until I received all three food items. The funny part is that I did the exact opposite. In fact, I ended up waiting at the counter for over 10 minutes in order to comply with this guideline!

What happened was that I ordered a McGriddle Value Meal. The associate at the register rung my order up and found out that there was no cash drawer in the register... so that caused a delay. Then, I realized he had rung up just the sandwich and not the Value Meal as specified. So then, although I received the McGriddle, I had to wait for the hashbrown and drink. I received the drink cup but still needed the hasbrown. Did I budge from the counter? Absolutely not! I KNEW KNEW KNEW that I needed to wait for the third item (the hashbrown) in order to follow the instructions adequately. So I waited an obscene amount of time for the hashbrown to arrive, and of course my sandwich is probably cold as can be by now. Well, I receive the hashbrown finally, and then no one asks me to pay. I could have just walked off and no one would have said anything. So again, I WAITED WAITED WAITED until someone could help me yet AGAIN with another one of the employee blunders. Someone finally came to help me and I paid. Looking back on this, I should have just walked off and not paid; no one would have cared or noticed. I know Market Force sure as hell wouldn't have given a flying f*ck. Just when you think things can't get worse, they of course get worse. Since I know I have received my sandwich (a loooong time ago), the counter was crowded, and I had too many things in my hands, I decided to set my items down quickly and then head back quickly for my sandwich. Well guess what, folks. Some time within that 10+ minute wait, my sandwich disappeared from the counter. I am guessing it happened while I was paying for the hashbrown and drink, because I was watching it at the counter as I waited.

This was the worst shopping experience ever, but it was my best most accurate report. So I could not help but be shocked when my shop was denied for: "not waiting at the counter until I had all 3 items." Ha! What a complete joke! You know, outside of mystery shopping even, this was the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I invested time, money, and patience in this, much more than what is required of a typical mystery shopper. And to add insult to injury, Market Force decides it would be a great idea not to pay me. They do not even consider the extraneous amount of issues I needed to deal with on the spot at this particular shop. That on top of the fact that they are claiming I didn't do something I did do infuriates me.

fraud alert

AUTHOR: hibirdie - (United States of America)

So technically, if the manager was involved in terrible customer service and saw that the data released in a report was negative, he/she could just... not accept it? And then the shopper could just... not get paid? Wow, that is crooked. Considering I came across many problems at my shop: 1) missing cash drawer from register when associate rung my order up, 2) the cashier ringing up just the sandwich instead of the Value Meal when I clearly asked for the Value Meal, 3) taking 10 minutes to get all three of my items to me, 4) giving me half my order without asking me to pay... I had to ASK them if I could pay for the items. I should have just walked away without paying, if I had known better... Stupid me for being responsible and assuming that being detailed, hard-working, and ethical would get me anything from such a crooked company. Never again.

Marketforce Secret Shopper Jobs

AUTHOR: Really? - (United States of America)

I have done several Mystery Shops at McDonald's for Market Force.  These are the facts as I experience them on a regular basis.

The instructions are explicit...you may order certain items and you are instructed to decide on the items BEFORE you do the shop.  The maximum amt of purchase on a two-part McDonald's shop is $15.00 and ordering specifically what you are instructed to order will keep you within that limit.

I do this "full time" and easily average $100 per week on the 4 shops per day Market Force allows.

I have had excellent success with getting questions answered when I email the help desk, and the website explains that you should use email for most inquiries.  In fact, unless you are in the process (on site) of a shop or audit, there is no reason I can think of that an email would not a suitable means of inquiry.

And when my family had an emergency and I had to cancel a few jobs, there was no grief.  I am back in full swing now and loving it.

No problems with Market Force

AUTHOR: LilThrowd - (USA)

I've done tons of mystery shops since 2006 and I have never had a problem with any of the companies, especially market force. You do have to read and make sure to follow the guideline to complete the shop correctly. I know there is a time limit on some but never with ordering time. You do however have to record the time you waited in line to the time you order was taken and food was received but that's about it.

I beleive there is a limit of 4 shops per day, 1 meal shop per meal period. You could potentially make over $1000 per month. I seem to be averaging 200/month for this company alone....

Yes you should have been prepared to order upon arrival....the menu is available online, you could have waited outside the line to make your selection. the shops no have specific items you can order listed right in the directions.....BUT I don't recall them listing a time limit to order. It should just be noted that the delay was the 1 minute...and that subtracted from the total time it took.

I emailed them and I got a canned reponce saying that they go through and weed out shoppers who are either to casual or to critical, but would not tell me what I was doing wrong. I have only been not paid for one shop because of missing a receipt that got lost, other than that I was never called or emailed to say I need to fix anything. I do shops for many other companies and if they need me to change something I have done, they will either call or email me telling me what to change, not just say you cannot do anymore shops. I tried calling and got an email saying that phones are for emergancy only, I think this is an emergancy, being that I want and answer to my questions. What really makes me really mad is just a week ago they emailed me and offered me a job saying it is for their best shoppers only which I did except because it had a good bonus attached to it. I am really confused and can not get any answers to my questions....

I have been mystery shopping since September 2010 and in that time I have performed and been paid for 37 shops with 5 different companies.

I did my first shop at McDonald's for Market Force last week. They have rejected myreport saying:

Shopper caused delay: You looked at and inquired about menu while at Drive-thru.

Their instructions say to order a Value Meal, so I asked for a McChicken Value Meal.

The order taker said there wasn't a McChicken Value Meal so I ordered the items separately.

The receipt indicated "McCHICKEN VM" with a single price of $6.39 for the three items listed.

For this they won't pay me? RIPOFF!!!

Susan should learn to follow instructions!

AUTHOR: Bayou Mama - (USA)

I have been doing shops for Marketforce for about 4 months and have been paid almost $800.00 for the work I have done.  I have never had a shop invalidated and only one time was contacted for additional information.  The company begs for you to read and follow instructions carefully so that you will be paid.  All McDonald's shops follow specific guidelines for timing so that the company can properly evaluate the work their employees do.  The McDonald's Marketforce shopper must start timing when he joins the line and mark timing points when the order is totaled and when the food is delivered.  The shopper is instructed to know what he will order (from a preprinted list of choices) and to have cash ready in hand to pay.  Taking a full minute to order would definitely invalidate the shop, and with good reason!  McDonald's would not be able to use the data to compare their employees' job performance with other shopping experiences.  (By the way, the managers can review a videotape of the shop to verify the timing points.)  Fast food companies are often trying to lower their average time to deliver an order by just a second or two.  As far as filling out the forms goes, the McDonald's form is somewhat lengthy, but 25-30 minutes would probably be the longest it could take.  Once you have done one or two of these shops, you should be able to fill it out faster.  Downloading instructions takes only seconds, although McDonald's has some helpful additional information you can download to be certain that you understand how to do the timing.  Marketforce is a terrific company to contract with, and I look forward to doing more shops for them.  Susan should learn to carefully read and follow the instructions.

You've been lucky so far. I too, got paid for the first 5 or so, then things went south. I hope your luck continues.

No problems here

AUTHOR: Double_nickel - (U.S.A.)

I have done about 5 McDonalds shops for Market Force. They contacted me twice. Once to notify me that I submitted the wrong form and to let me correct the form, The other time was to verify information. These are all recent shops for Market Force. I have been paid for one, three others have been accepted, and one is waiting verification. It took closer to 15 minutes than an hour to input the information and read the instructions. It was a very simple form. I will admit they do seem tideous, but not dishonest. Then again, the customer needs a good review for their customer.

Considering my experience, there is probably more to this story.

I "second" the complaint.

I, too, have had problems with re-imbursement from this company. While some contractors may have 100% reimbursement, I can state that I've performed several jobs for them, some of which were not reimbursed. It is evidently hit-and-miss. So, good luck!!

Market Force Has Never Not Paid Me for a Shop

AUTHOR: Elizabeth - (U.S.A.)

I am sorry you had a bad experience with Market Force but more than likely it was MacDonald's that refused to pay. I have shopped for Market Force and other reputable shopping companies for over two years. All are specific (and different) on timings. It is always in the paperwork or guidelines. If the client accepts your report and pays you get paid.
