CINDY ANDERSON, A REAL ESTATE AGENT, AND HER MOTHER, MARYELLEN HILL, A BROKER, NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED BY THE CALIFORNIA BUREAU OF REAL ESTATE.

Maryellen Hill & Associates (MHA) is a real estate company that manages over 300 rental units in the Palm Springs area. The property manager of these units is CINDY ANDERSON, who is currently the subject of intense, public scrutiny which is reaching a fever-pitch. It's time to bring these two to justice.

This is a description of the OUTRAGEOUS AND ILLEGAL BEHAVOR perpetrated by CINDY ANDERSON, which is no doubt ENCOURAGED by Maryellen Hill, the broker.

Accordning to CALIFORNIA LAW, the owner and/or property manager of a rental unit, are supposed to respond IMMEDIATELY when something breaks down in a rental unit, such as --water / plumbing / HVAC / electricity. 

Here is a detailed account on how CINDY ANDERSON conducts business (when no one's looking) --- 

On Thursday, June 25th 2015, a frantic renter called the office of MHA. The Receptionist took the call. The renter said a water pipe had burst in her unit and there was 3” of water flooded throughout the whole place.

CINDY ANDERSON was on the phone, so the receptionist told her assistant – CHELCIE GOINS.

For reasons unknown to anyone, CINDY ANDERSON became UNGLUED and started screaming profanities at the receptionist …

 “Leave her THE f*** alone!  She’s busy right now!”

When the receptionist tried to explain, ANDERSON became even more unglued.

“F*** OFF!  GET THE F*** OUTA’ HERE!”

The receptionist, a hard-working, well-liked employee, was inexplicably FIRED FOR REPORTING THE FLOOD in a renter’s apartment. When payday came along, naturally everyone got paid except for the receptionist. Her final paycheck magically disappeared in the mail. She wasn’t paid until two weeks later -- very illegal. 

The above scenario was against Landlord/Tenant Law, Health Department Law, Standard Company Procedure, and also breached MHA’s own contractual agreement with the OWNERS concerning emergencies. CINDY ANDERSON is also guilty of the employee’s wrongful termination. 

Now, here is a collection of complaints posted on YELP.COM against CINDY ANDERSON and her MOTHER, MARYELLEN HILL. You'll see incidents of ELDER ABUSE, FRAUD, DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTICES AND CONDUCTING REAL ESTATE WITHOUT A LICENSE.

1.    Cindy Anderson has continuously harassed and abused a disabled senior resident [here at our complex].  She had his vehicle towed 5 times from 5 different locations without notice or warning. It cost the disabled man more than $1,500 to retrieve his truck from the towing company.

2.    [Cindy Anderson] yells and swears at employees and renters … She actually hung up on my partner over the phone … and made promises [she] never kept … until we hired a lawyer.  

3.    I resigned from the HOA board two months after witnessing the illegal proceedings of Cindy Anderson.

4.    You might want to look up the fines paid by this company for illegal practices.

5.    Cindy Anderson’s poor management affected our property values ... [and now] we stand to lose value whether in resale or lease.  She has no knowledge of law, nor does she care.

6.    I filed a Superior Court Action against Maryellen Hill [for having no broker’s license)

7.    MHA has been caught lying about insurance facts and other issues by other Owners.

8.    Cindy Anderson refuses to supply records … seldom answers e-mails and written requests ... Financial Reports were 5 months late!

9.    Watch out for this one!  When things go wrong, they become your worst enemy.

10.   Maryellen Hill did not give me full disclosure [of costs] before I moved in.

11.   Cindy Anderson is abusive, crass, unprofessional … all my neighbors say the same thing.

12.   WOW.  I have NEVER dealt with a more unprofessional company-EVER. Cindy Anderson is completely unstable and unethical.

13.   Cindy Anderson is the meanest and rudest Property Manager on this planet.

14.   NEVER have I seen so much inappropriate behavior by one individual [Cindy Anderson].

15.   Please contact the local news stations and newspapers. I did and they are very familiar with Cindy Anderson.

16.   Cindy Anderson spoke with the moving people [hired by the elderly disabled man] in an offensive and rude manner and an argument ensued.

When renters call with questions and problems, they are systematically put into voicemail. Hardly any of them receive return calls, so how would CINDY ANDERSON know if there was a SAFETY ISSUE, Let's say there's a loose balcony railing ... on the 3rd floor ... with a toddler in the unit.  Should the employee risk getting fired just for telling someone?

CINDY ANDERSON'S BEHAVIOR IS IN DIRECT VIOLATION OF CALIFORNIA PROPERTY MANAGEMENT LAW.

Here are excerpts from the Real Estate Guide, Chapter 22, published on the Cal. DRE website:

1.  The Property Manager has a DUAL RESPONSIBILITY to both the Owner and Renter.

2.   The Property Manager must have knowledge of fair housing laws, repairs and maintenance.

3.   Must be soft-spoken … poised … and ever-available.

4.   Must comply with applicable federal, state and local laws.

CINDY ANDERSON makes the owners of the units 100% LIABLE with her words, deeds and actions because it's implied that her behavior is APPROVED by the owners, but they don't know she's doing all this.

Furthermore, her mother, MARYELLEN HILL, is the California broker overseeing ANDERSON, and is EVEN MORE LIABLE than CINDY ANDERSON, according to California Law.  Maryellen Hill has been informed multiple times about her daughter's unstable behavior but refuses to do anything about it, also HIGHLY ILLEGAL. THE ENTIRE COMPANY IS A LAWSUIT WAITING TO HAPPEN.

If anyone has a complaint against CINDY ANDERSON, do not contact the HOA. You should send a written complaint to Maryellen Hill, the broker, by certified mail. It's okay to state how upset you are in a few sentences, but the rest of your complaint should outline the facts, dates, times and locations. End the letter with a solution. What do you want to see done? And give the broker a DATE in which to answer.

According to California Law, she is forced to respond.

If you have the contact information for the owner, repeat the above steps and send a copy to the broker, to put them on notice.

If the broker doesn't respond, you can take this mother and daughter team to small claims court and SUE THEM FOR PERFORMANCE.  It only costs $35 and you don't have to pay $70 for the process server. Just have a friend or relative take the SUMMONS to their office (anyone over 18 and not named in the suit.)  When you go to court, bring your friends and neighbors with you, and anyone who saw first hand the outrageous, illegal behavior of CINDY ANDERSON.

A copy of this complaint is being sent to the Calfornia Bureau of Real Estate, the State Attorney General's Office, and the Palm Springs Board of Realtors.

 Since day 1 Cindy Anderson has been nothing but rude and dismissive. As a new owner I felt like I was unwelcome and that I made a mistake buying at Esprit. I’d rather not go into details but all of the comments I’ve read on Yelp and social media are echoed by me. I would love to see her removed and MHA disbarred from real estate in this state. Being a Bully Should never be associated with property management.
