I feel it very important that you hear about my recent experience with your company.

About two weeks ago, I decided I had better get my rear brakes replaced. I knew there were problems with the piston and my emergency brake had slowly gone bad.

Friday, June 10th

I started calling the local (Webster, NY) store to ask about availability. I was told they were pretty booked, but if I could get it in on Sunday, it would be taken care of. I told them it was critical that I get my car back on Sunday due to work responsibilities. I made 3 such calls to ensure I would be able to get my car back the same day, and was guaranteed to get it back in a couple of hours.

That Sunday came and I had my car towed to the garage. I specifically told them several times , including leaving a note on the steering wheel, that I wanted the rear brakes repaired. I was told that when they pulled the rear drum, the brakes came apart and they would have to keep the car overnight. I called into work. I was extremely upset and called the 1-800 number to voice my complaint. I did not receive a progress phone call as promised, so I called the store. The manager on duty sounded like he wanted to make me a good deal for my inconvenience, and offered to “redo the front brakes, too” for an additional $50.00. I reluctantly agreed. The original quote for the rears was right around $200.00. He told me they could replace the calipers, and since he had a 'leftover' set of pads, there would be no charge for them.

When I picked up the car, I noticed the new calipers on the front, and hoped all was well. When I got in my car, I first noticed that the pedal was very mushy, even worse than before. I also noticed that there was almost no grab on the emergency brake. However, I took the car, because it did seem to stop better.

Sunday June 26

Two weeks later I was going to work, fifteen miles from home, and my brakes completely failed. I pulled into a station to buy a $10.00 large bottle of brake fluid, the last one. Meanwhile one of the mechanics took a quick peak under the car and said “yep, you've blown a piston, that thing is shot!” That is when I realized that the rear brakes were never fixed at all.

I again called the 1-800 number and spoke with Kelsy. I explained everything to her and she seemed concerned. She said if I could get to the Irondequoit store, they would fix it that night, and if they couldn't, I would be provided with a rental car. Knowing I had no brakes, she said I would need to get to a store twenty miles away. She said she would call the store manager and explain everything.

I miraculously arrived at the store and had the car looked at. He (Irondequoit Store Manager) essentially told the same thing about the cylinder being shot. He also said they would need to keep it overnight. I inquired about the rental and he said he had never heard of that. He said I would need to get a hold of whoever I spoke with to get more information. I tried the 1-800 number repeatedly for the next half hour with no answer. I finally got a hold of Kelsy again who said she would call the store manager and straighten it out.

Well she did call, and after another 15 minutes the store manager explained that the company would cover only $40 a day for a two-day rental, leaving me to pay the additional $80 or so. Then he said the car was reserved until midnight for me AT THE AIRPORT! I called my wife, who had to drive over fifteen miles to pick me up, meanwhile, I sat there steaming and waiting.

I had to use my wife's car to get to work the next day. While at work, my wife called with a message from the district manager saying they would need to relocate my car to the Webster store because they didn't have the correct tools at the Irondequoit store. Their idea of relocating meant that they DROVE my car there- with no brakes! Since my car is a standard, I can only imagine what they did to my over-aged clutch.

When I spoke with this district manager again, he told me “your rear brakes were fine, it was a piston that blew.” I guess he didn't know that I know quite a bit about mechanical things. I could not believe the foolishness I was hearing.

He said he would replace the one piston and assured me that the mechanic would make sure I had a good emergency brake before I took the car.

I went to pick up the car. Another fifteen mile ride from my wife, and when I picked up the car, after checking the soft, but acceptable brakes, I yanked the emergency brake all the way up and the car rolled backwards down a slight incline.

I have never been more disgusted with such awful customer service in my life. Did I mention that through this whole process, I did not receive one apology, but rather everyone justifying their own actions.

In total, this has cost me:

$269.00 for a front brake job I did not request.

I paid over 70 bucks for the “free” pads.

The grief that comes with telling the big boss you cannot be there to open several businesses resulting in the loss of a day's pay.

Unnecessary loss of vehicle on two occasions, and moving work tools back and forth.

The risk of endangering my own or someone else's life, and possibly ruining my clutch.

No honest disclosure to me that my rear brakes were not even worked on the first time around.

District manager did not return my call again or contact me as promised.

June 29, 2016

My rear brakes are now making an awful noise and sound like they are falling apart, and I have absolutely no emergency brake.

If you have any good business sense, you will offer me a full refund as a minimum. No action on your part will result in much action on my part.

Please make this right,
