I began working for Mike Reibly and his Mayday Pest Control 02/01/09. Initially everything was fine, especially since the economy hasn't been running smoothly in some time. This is a brief overview that I will go into further in later paragraphs. The first truck I got had 230,000 miles on it and had been in the automotive shop two, three times before I drove it. I had a total of four days training, with no previous experience. I was constantly yelled at over the phone, but face-to-face Mike was sheepish and friendly. I was also moved from working five days a week to four with no explanation. Then the equipment wouldn't work for me to perfom my job. My last day of employment was the last Saturday of Feb. My equipment failed and I had to come back, the following Monday I was fired over the phone after Mike gave me an option of staying or finding something else. Now into further detail.

Mike has said that he asked me if I could drive a standard truck, and swears to this day that I said yes. He has absolutely no record of this, for the simple fact that I told him that I hadn't driven one since I was 15 years old four or five times. He said ok and that was that, period. He needed somebody to fill in.

My first day I was riding along side the operation's manager, Marcus Poole, who took me around and showed me kind of what I'd be doing on a day-to-day basis. The next morning I was issued the first truck. I was asked if I was ready to drive it and responded that I hadn't driven one forever and a day. They kind of smiled and laughed a little and the keys were handed to me. I did the best I could, stalling at practically every stoplight. The next two days I was sent with another technician into downtown Dallas and that completed my training. The Friday after my four days of training I was on my own, and stayed that way until my firing.

That same Friday (as above) I had to come in starting in 3rd gear because the first two wouldn't work. When Mike heard about it the next Monday he threw his sack lunch agaist the wall and went into his office slamming the door. I took my other issued truck and went about my route. When I came back I told Mike that I was sorry about the truck and I had not done anything to it to make it that way. He looked at me and said that it wasn't my fault, it was an old truck and had been in the shop two or three times recently to replace a plate in the gearbox. Then he told me not to worry about it. And that was that; I thought.

The week after all the above mess had cleared I was at a commercial site and my first compressed sprayer malfunctioned. I called in to the office and Mike came on giving me directions of how to try and fix it. None of it worked which got him angrier over the phone. Then he told me I'd have to meet him somewhere off the George Bush Turnpike close to his next destination. I asked him where that would be exactly and he yelled at me that that was what he was trying to figure out. Then he yelled an address and I spoke it while I wrote it and then he figured out it wasn't even in the town he said it was. So he eventually decided to just meet me where I was at. When he arrived the tough-guy that could yell over the phone was as nice, freindly and sheepish as a human could get. There were four other times where he'd yell and then figure out it was actually his fault and then act freindly towards me.

Coming towards the end of my last week I was given the next month's tech schedule and found that I had been dropped from five days a week down to four. There was absolutely no explaination, ever, about this. That Saturday I worked for half the day and then couldn't because my second compressed sprayer malfunctioned. Now I could've called Mike but his cell phone magically stopped working on Friday, and the other numbers I didn't have because when the first truck broke down I didn't have time to get the paper with them on it. So I was out of luck. I parked the truck and went home. The next Monday I was called by Mike who actually gave me the option of staying on or finding something else to do. I chose to stay and he told me he'd rather I didn't. Well why ask me then? I asked about my last check and Mike told me he'd send it that Friday 03/06/09. So, there was nothing I could do and I thought it ended there, but ...

The next Monday I called in and asked Mike himself if he'd sent my check and he told me that he had made deductions because the second truck I had driven had a burnt out clutch as well. This is completely untrue; if it had a burnt out clutch I wouldn't have been capable of driving it back to the office. Nevertheless he STOLE $620.00 out of my last paycheck. He sent papers explaining why he stole the money, which has only proven that he is actually a criminal. The truck that broke on me the first time was truck # 2 the one that had been in the shop often, that Mike said not to worry about. The second truck, which had nothing wrong with it ever, was truck # 8. The papers say that he took it to Brian's Automotive in Lewisville and they fixed truck # 2 the one Mike absolved me from.

These people should be put out of business, period. They are criminals that stole from their own employee. Please, don't waste your time or money on these people; they simply aren't worth the trouble.

mike is great boss

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

Mike is the best boss I have ever had. Call the office and ask them yourself. He never yelled in all the years I have been there. Chris Gorman lies to deflect the blame for his own shortcomings ... like lying about his ability to drive a shift and then buning up two Toyota truck clutches... You know how hard that is ! Chris Gorman is also the thief in your office that steals your drinks out of the company refrigerator... even after you mark them with your name I might add. Not nice : ( Who do you beleive, the well documented 11 year track record of Mayday or the guy who walked off the job after less than three weeks and left Mayday customers hangin? A simple phone call to the customers would have been nice. Oh by the way, Chris never paid a dime for those two new clutches. Mike's a nice guy.
