On 03/25/2014 I called Maytag "Customer Experience Center" at 1-800-688-9900 on behalf of my 82 year old father.  The washing machine he purchased at The Home Depot on 03/29/13 was not operating properly and he had misplaced his original store receipt.  Luckily, I had taken a picture of it with my phone last year.  I was connected to "Denise in Tennessee."  I explained to Denise that my father's Maytag washing machine was not operating properly and that he purchased it less than 12 months ago.  She asked for the model and serial number, which I provided.  She then asked if we had purchased an extended warranty, to which I answered yes.  She took all the information she needed and then scheduled a service appointment for Friday, March 28, 2014 (the day before the one year warranty was up) between 8:00AM and 12:00PM.

My father waited all day No Maytag service repairman showed up and nobody called him either.  I called the Maytag Services number again today (03/31/2014) and spoke with "Matt" at 11:53 PDT.  The call lasted 28 minutes.  It appears all information relating to my father's account was no longer to be found in their system.  They had no record of his washing machine purchase nor any record that a service call was placed BEFORE the warranty expired.  I told Matt that it was very convenient for Maytag that his records disappeared immediately following my phone request for service.  He tried pulling up data using my father's name, address and telephone number.  When I suggested searching by serial number, as "Denise" did when I initially called the week before, Matt told me that wouldn't work as Maytag recycles serial numbers so there would be multiple entries for one serial number.  When I suggested he speak with "Denise,"  Matt said "there are a million Denises here."

Matt did not offer any acceptable solutions.  He wanted my father to pay for a repair service call.  I declined.  I also told Matt that my father had a Maytag repairman visit his home last years, shortly after the washer was installed.  He thought there was a defect with the washer, but just didn't understand how to use the fancy new controls.  Yet, Matt mysteriously could not find any record less than one week after I spoke with "Denise."

If you have experienced this type of situation with Maytag, please let me know so that we can get a Class Action Lawsuit in motion.  I am in favor of exposing corporate schemes that try to relieve the company of their corporate responsibility when it comes to warranty service.
