On Thursday, March 20 2014, my nine year old Maytag washer died. And certainly NOT from over use. I placed a call to Maytag customer services and was talked into buying what they call Repair plus One for $399.95. The amount is supposed to cover serice call, parts and labor and a one year warranty. Also, should the machine be unrepairable, I would not be charged anything. After giving the issue much thought I decided to buy a new washer for the reason that if they fix the one problem that caused the machine to stop working during the service call that was scheduled for Monday, March 24, 2014 and the very next day some other part wore out after nine years I would have to invest another couple hundred dollars. So, it made more sence to me to buy NEW. Which I did at Sears. I purchased a nice Kennmore. Kennmore is the brand I had prior too the Maytag which lasted me 19 years. First thing this morning, Monday, March 24, 2014 I called Maytag at 5am MST 8am EST. I told customer service that I wanted to cancel the service call and contract that I had decided to purchase new. I was told I would have to call another phone number to do so. I then called the second phone number and explained to that person the purpose of my call and was transfered to another department. Again I was told I would have to call another number. Believe it or not, but once again I was told I would have to call another phone number. This person told me I would are you ready? yes I would have to call the number that I had previously called before him. By this time I was not only frustrated but extemely angry to say the least. I finally called my credit company and explained what happened trying to cancel the contract and did not want to be charged. Four days before they were to come to my home they already charged my account. Capital One was very helpful. They are filing a Despute Claim on my behalf. First, I can't believe that cancelling the contract before anything was done what they have put me through and the fact that I would have to go through all this even if the machine couldn't be repaired. What kind of service is that? I have never in my 63 years EVER experienced a company that makes it so difficult to cancel something. And how all those people I had to speak with who kept passing me from one to the other have jobs. Maytag if your reading this I wouldn't buy another one of your products for anything in the world. Shame on you!!!!!!!
