McKenna Property Management is a bully.  They are professionals in saying NO. It is something they are trained to do.  I have been renting with my wife for the last 7 years and we have always been ideal tenants.  I have owned apartments in the past and I know what a bad tenant is.  I know the stress of people who don't pay their rent or constantly have "issues" with their dwelling or leave the domicile filthy and disgusting upon moving out.

My wife, 6 month old daughter and I are NONE of these traits.  We lived at Gingerbread Man Ave Las Vegas NV 89183 for a year.  When we moved out, McKenna provided an EXTENSIVE checklist of 'to dos' in order to recieve the deposit back.  It was lengthy, but we had planned on cleaning anyway.  I knew by reading this list and the phrasing that McKenna was setting up a non-refund.  We had the carpets professionally cleaned, touched up anywhere we hung pictures and thoroughly cleaned this 3 level house. It was our home for 1 year. It was where we brought home our first child.  It had special meaning... and will always, but Mckenna has really tainted that experience.  

Everything was done as asked, even air filters and lights.  We then recieve a letter stating we are not only getting back ZERO dollars, but OWE them for a bunch of cleaning, repairs and other itemized nonsense.  Many things listed were completely false and made up like replacing air filters or fixing "an installed doggy door" .  Air filters replaced and doggy door was pre-existing.  It was almost comical how inaccurate the charges were...

My wife called to try and resolve this issue before we decided to get a lawyer.  She was berated and talked to very rudely. McKenna, especially Debbie and Jenni McKenna, were condescending in verbal and written correspondence.  I am now dealing with them and have recieved similar treatment.  We have now sought help from an attorney; he has reached out to previous tenants on this site and ripoffreport.com among other websites only hearing similar stories.  We have tried to be fair and compromise with them only to be laughed at. The fact of the matter is we are going to have to go to court over hundreds of dollars.  It's the principle that these people are conducting their business in very unethical and illegal manners.

Nevada has a statute that covers any renter for NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR.  The reason people rent is to not have the full responsibilty of owning a home.  Why would we pay somebody else's mortgage for a year and have to get the house reconditoned for the next renter.  That is the rental property's responsibilty and the owners.  Sure, we LIVED in the house! Yes, some things need repair or reconditoning, but not a thousand dollars worth and surely not $1300?!  

If you are considering renting from a McKenna property please do yourself a favor and call me first or do more research. It will not be fun in the end and no good seems to come from these folks.  I am not disgruntled or lying. I speak the truth.  I am a good person that works hard for my family and takes pride in all aspects of my life.  I do not litter. I do not keep an unkempt home.  I am not unreasonable. I do not sit idly while companies like McKenna steal from people like myself.
