I went to Metro Motorsports with the intent to buy a new Ranger UTV. We went thru the usual spew found a unit we liked and started the process.       They ran my credit( good score ) came back and said the bank wouldnt give me what I needed..  So we started negotiating on a 09 demo model. They came back with an outrageous amount and said I had to put  $1500 down ..This is after sitting there for 3 hrs. They told me the best they could do from the finance company was 12.5% financing.. I finally had enough and told them no deal... I called another local independent dealer told him exactly what I was looking for and wondered if he could help.. The dealer beat their price buy $3500 and told me my financing could be done at 9.9%. and this was on a 2010 Ranger!!! The bank told this dealer that they told Metro the same thing 9.9% !!!  Metro was trying to swindle us out of God knows how much money,to line their corporate pockets... Needless to say after wasting 4hrs and getting nothing but a bottle of water from these crooks, I wont even buy a lite bulb from these guys...

The dealer has an accomplice

Since I've had unsolicited credit cards pushed onto me without my knowledge (2006 and 2010), I'm 100% sure that HSBC (in my case) is part of the problem.  It's call the Federal Truth In Lending Act which deals with disclosure of key terms....but in each case it was lack of disclosure.  Since the penalty is between $100 to $1000 for violations of the law, they can do it freely without fear since most consumers will simply complain for a bit and the few that do goto court won't make a dent in their pockets.  How information is disclosed and whether it's disclosed at all is actually a key component of fraud so when the lender does nothing to follow the law and disclose the key terms, they are enabling the dealers to do the same thing.  It's a partnership that is mutually beneficial to the dealer, the manufacturer (i.e. Yamaha or Kawasaki) and the lender.  The cards are pushed out in part to steer consumers back to the dealer where they'll buy more stuff on credit which increases the profits for all parties except the buyer (you).

You think thats bad

I had them actually open up credit on me when I tried to buy a GSX-R (for over MSRP b.t.w.) I told them what they were asking for was too steep. Well I ended up walking out. When I later ran my credit trying to purchase a car I had 10k of credit opened through them and they never said a word to me. It took me a few months of calling around to get it closed and off my record. No one should ever think about going there or buying a new 750 for msrp + taxes + title + assembly fee + handling fee + ride now fee - when you can usually get it for under msrp elsewhere.
