I took out an educational loan with the Michigan Department Of Education in 1990 at the Loop Academy Of Business. The school closed in 1997. I finished my class that lasted from 1/90-7/90.

I was not educated, I did not receive a job through the school which was promised, and I never received grades or transcripts. I have been complaining about this since 1990. The student loan is in default and part of my chapter 13 with Robert Semrad and Associates, Downtown.

I do not want to pay for the loan because I was scamed. I did not receive real education from a real school. It was a way for the Michigan Department of Education to make money. I have not been able to receive financial aid most of my life and could not attend college because of this. I want my money back that I paid the the Michigan Guaranty Agency.

Listen to Mark, don't give up on school. Then listen to Fareed, like him I am in the collection business. I collect for the military, trust us when we say they will find you. Try to work out a payment plan. Good luck

I am an Administrative Skiptracer for the Department of Education...

AUTHOR: Fareed - (U.S.A.)

when you consolidate you are basically admitting guilt to the loan and bear full responsibility. And the Department of Education is very lenient in pursuing the debt, they are very forgiving and try everything in their power, i see debts that are from before i was born!!!

You are not guaranteed an education, and the education cannot be repossessed in the event that you dont pay, therefore their only recourse is to make you pay, deal with it. If you dont pay, then just hide out the rest of your life, and wait for someone like me to find you, I find about 35 people a day, and thats on average...

#4 Consumer Suggestion

Keep trying. Enroll in a legitimate college

AUTHOR: Mark - (U.S.A.)

Here is a suggestion. Enroll in a legitimate college. I am, of course, not aware of your living situation, age, etc.. If you enroll in school you can defer your loans. Stay far, far away from online schools.

I earned my BS and my MBA in the evening division of a local, accredited, University. I now teach there as an adjunct. It was a long hard haul. The one thing that made it possible is that I could defer my loans while I was enrolled in school. I also had an automatic 2 year deferral upon graduation.

With the degree my earning capacity grew enough that servicing the loan was not an issue. I should point out that upon graduation I refinanced the loan to stretch the payment period from 5 to 20 years, a bad decision financially, but absolutely essential to keep me out of the risk of default.

Don't give up on school. Do some homework. Check out local schools for things like cost, location, availability of resources, and most importantly, its accreditation. Avoid schools that advertise in UFH and cable channels like the plague. I would also look for a school that has been around for awhile. My small local college is over 110 years old. They will be here tomorrow as well.

Good luck!

no I am not kidding, The Michigan Dept Of Education should at least see to it that I get my grades.

AUTHOR: Sophia - (U.S.A.)

Especially if they want their money back for a loan I took out at the Rip off Loop Academy Of Business. The Illinois Dept Of Education does not even have records on the closed school so this is a scam. Yes I did make a mistake in choosing the school and signing the loan with the dept of Michigan but I already have made consolidation effords to payoff my debts this is not the issue the issue is I got the bad end of the deal and I was just saying something just in case any other branches of the school exist don't go to it because you will be wasting your time and money. Ten thousand dollars is a lot to pay for nothing which is what the loan is now because of default, my house being burned and miss fortunes of life.

You have got to be kidding

AUTHOR: Mark - (U.S.A.)

You chose the wrong school and then fail to learn anything. Somehow you come to the conclusion that the good people of Michigan should pay for this foolishness.

Dear, I am afraid I have bad news. No one offers the type of guarantee you seem to think you are entitled to. Pay your debts. Make better decisions. Stop blaming the world.
