I stopped at that point and contacted them via their customer service and said I had paid my fees and asked, why did I then have to give them all of this personal info. Of course, their reply was that they had to verify that I was entitled to the information - public records from the civil war (give me a break). At that pint I told them I thought they were a scam and my next step was to Ripoff Reports. Lo and behold! I checked my bank acct today and find two charges; one for the 1$ fee which they advertised was all I would pay, and another fee for $19.95.
Forgive me, but outlaws such as this should be taken on a ride into the desert from which they walk home barefooted. It's not bad enough that we scrimp and save to do something for ourselves, but to have some lawless butt-head doing what the government does, making life more difficult for us. My suggestion - do not go to this site, don't give anyone your pertinent information - and for sure, don't use web sites that tell you "it's free" because nothing is. I am stopping payment tomorrow morning.
