I have been attempting to cancel a service with monitronics since June 2010 to stop in July 2010. A couple of sales reps came to my door and sold me this security system and being a new widow, they took complete advantage of that. I was grieving, I had lost both my husband and brother within a 3 month period.

I had many problems with the alarm going off for no purpose. Or the alarm company not calling the proper person on the call down list. I finally got so tired of it I called in June 2010 and ask them to cancel the service in July when my 1 year plan ended.

A few months went by and everything was good. Then i started receiving calls that my bill was behind. Then they started taking money out of my bank account after I canceled. I called them and told them I cancelled back in June, and they said they had no record of this.

I advised them over and over again I spoke to someone with Monitronics and they would cancel the plan. Their customer service people were irrogant and condascending. They then told me I have to submit it to Platnum protection in writing. I advised them I was not with Platnum I was with Monitronics. They said they were the same now. I told them I was never advised of the change, and no comment came to me regarding that.

I mailed in a cancelation note detailing the information and that my contract ended in July and I did not want to resign with them. The sent me a note telling me that they had recieved my cancellation and it would be effective in February of 2011, not July 2010 when I began this cancellation nightmare. They also stated they would NOT honor my cancellation. What do they mean they wont honor it?

I advised them I removed all the equipment from my home and they were not to call me anymore. But no, they continue to do this even after acknowledging that they received all the information i sent them telling them otherwise.

I'm going to make another attempt to get them to cancel this. They think I owe them money or I have to come to some arrangement to pay them to stop a service they signed me up for without my authorizaion. I'm tired of them and just need to know how to get them to stop harrasing me, and stop their fraudulant billing.
