2014-12-09   RE:   Monroe Strut/Shock Assy Rebate

We had Monroe Strut/Shock assembly put on our car on Oct. 9, 2014 at a local Automotive shop here in Vancouver, Wa. were told that there is a $70 rebate for these products. After the work was completed, our Automotive Specialist (Mike) filled out the rebate form and submitted it within the first couple of weeks.

By Dec. 9, 2014 we had not received any rebate or response from the rebate company. We called "Mike" our automotive specialist, and he said he would try to check on it for us. Shortly later, he called back with a phone number to call to check on it. We called the number, was told that there was no information in the system at all for us. They said it takes about wees for the information would show up in the system. He gave me info to print off the rebate form at offers.tenneco.com so I can either email or mail it back to :

  Email:  tenneco@young-america.com

        or mail:

Resubmissions Dept Offer # 1048-001

PO Box 740903

El Paso TX 88547-0903

He suggested doing both to make sure it was received.

At this point I got onto the website  " offers.tenneco.com"  for the rebate form. The webiste had

their name and "select product", but the page was blank and would not open. After trying for many minutes to close and reopen, I gave up.

At that point, I started searcing the information online and found many, many reports of this company (as well as this website, (Ripoffreport.com),not following through with their rebate requests received by customers.

I contacted "Mike", and he will see if he can get a form for me. i told him about what I had found and he was very surprised because Napa is part of the rebate process also.

I am beginning this report and will keep it updated.

Time limits...

Sorry but what I see is that YOUR mechanic was late in sending in said rebate. You DO realize there is a time frame for these things. Just because WHEN YOU PURCHASED the parts they was a rebate, IF the rebate form is NOT postmarked BY the cutoff date, then YOU GET NO REBATE!!!! You even state in your own words that it took YOUR mechanic a few WEEKS to send it in. Odds are that due to THAT ONE ERROR, you wont see a refund of any kind. Its one of the major drawbacks of living in LINEAR TIME!!! You cant go back and fix the MISTAKES of the past. You can ONLY learn from those mistakes and try and no t make them again. To prove WHAT I am saying is true, just call the company and ask THEM what the rebate cutoff date was. You will more then likely find that YOUR MECHANIC being SLOW in getting that rebate form out is what has caused this issue. I actually hope that is true. Otherwise all YOU have done is defame a reputable business and blame THEM for something that was under YOUR control. YOU could have stopped by the next day and asked for the rebate form so YOU could ensure said rebate. YOU left it in the hands of someone YOU trusted. THEY are ultimately responsible, NOT the rebate company. Live and learn with emphasis on the LEARN. While YOU sit there and SAY it was a couple of weeks, odds are that YOU are glossing over the TRUE amount of time and expect us all to buy a few weeks. Where rebates are concerned there is NO grace period.
