Montecito Apartments prometheus apartments This is the WORST apartment I have lived in. I should have listened- They have horrible online reviews. Management is horrible responding to any requests, they took all of my deposit when the place is pretty good shape. They replaced the carpet for no reason. I lived there for less than a YEAR! Santa Clara California

This is by far the WORST APARMENT THAT I HAVE EVER LIVED AT. I should have listened to the horrible online reviews. I paid top-notch for this apartment thinking the the level of service is great. WRONG! Every time I try to contact the manager for any issues including neighbors dropping glass bottles on my dogs from the patio, they are never available. They took all of my deposit- $1200 because they claim that the carpet is dirty-which was not. The dogs were never inside the house. I lived there for less than 8 months because I did not feel safe there. My dogs were mostly in the patio unless we were home. BEWARE, THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY FOR ANYTHING THEY CAN CHARGE YOU FOR!!!! I would never live in a Pormetheus property apartment EVER!

Montecito is full of it.

AUTHOR: Scribbles - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, March 26, 2015

Lets start with our first month in our apartment at Montecito. The washer and dryer do not work despite how much or how little clothing is in them. The dishwasher does not run properly everytime, so handwashing dishes became FAR more effective. The outside patio had not been cleaned for months. The garbage disposal didn't work hardly at all even with simple break downs. The toilet doesn't flush, and I'm not talking about monster bowel movements, I'm talking about toilet paper flushing all the way down when your girlfriend takes a pee. Where was our "welcome home doggie" gift bags? They never came (but that would only be the least of our pet concerns). And one side of our fence had been half-a** replaced and was leaning badly.

Over the next MONTHS, some of these things were begrudingly replaced after 5-6 e-mails and a few phone calls PER PROBLEM, and even then, there was ZERO guarantee any actual significant change would occur. I'm going to skip over a bunch of stuff but here are some things I found absolutely terrible for a couple living together for the first time.

People throwing shards of broken glass at my puppy and other small dog. That sickens me to my core. We reported this offense so often that we gave up. I even bought a Dropcam so I could monitor the dogs noise and activity while we were gone. Aside from barking occasionally DURING BROAD DAYLIGHT when they heard other dogs, they usually gave a couple barks and went back to their toys. I tried to provide this video to Montecito management and never got an answer back. Keep in mind my gf and I had offsetting schedules (her 6am-around 4pm and me 4pm-11pm) both dogs were never alone longer than an hour or two at most. However, we were reprimanded for having our dogs outside for "As long as 2 days". Sorry f*** heads, I would NEVER under any circumstance leave my dog or any other dog outside for even an whole workshift.

Lets talk about noise complaints and distruptions since dogs barking in the daytime of a "pet-friendly" apartment complex is an issue. How about when your neighbors, over the course of multiple weeks and lasting over a few months would have very loud screaming fights with each other, slamming doors around 2AM and threatening to kill each other outside the apartment. Did my dogs bark then? You bet your a*s they did. Did we report it? YUP. Did Montecito do a god d**n thing? NOPE. So dogs barking is a big deal, but domestic violence requires action on my part? Cool

Look, if you want to throw $2,300 a month (pet deposit included) for a shitty 1 bedroom apartment down the drain, go for it. Don't expect a deposit back though. Our dogs were potty trained months before we moved in and not one little mistake was made, but the guy was barely through the door before he said the carpets hard to go in both rooms (he hadn't seen the bedroom yet). Have fun paying out the a*s to have nothing work, no one to help you, and no way to explain or prove your innocence.

First of all, Montecito apartment do not know my schedule. But if you must know, my boyfriend works at 4 pm-11 pm and I work from 6 am to 3 pm. So, my dogs are never alone! :) If you want proof of our schedules, I will post it, but it's none of this apartment's business. I should have know before I moved in here that the managers are horrible! I have to email them 5 times before I get a respond. My last month of living here, Montecito apartment had the nerve to charge me late fees when they did not prorate the dog rent. I told them multiple times that I was moving out 2 months before. Every time I call, you can bet your life that you will always get their answering machine. 'Thank you for calling Montecito Apartments. Your call is important to us.. Blah blah blah' But no one will Ever return your message. Try it! I promise you and bet my life that you always get their voicemail. It baffles me that 'they are showing' units all day long! For the money I pay, they onit have on person in the office, who is never there. Thank you Montecito Apartments for making my stay so horrible that I will never rent from any Prometheus apartments! Also, I was never notified that the manager that I dealt with has left. I kept sending her emails and of course, no reply! But why should I be surprise, this apartment is the worst at communication! They are good at robbing your money for rent and taking your deposit, but never give you the service or courtesy you deserve. I asked for the receipts for my deposit and the current manager never replied. I emailed him 3 times!!!! But of course, again, I'm not suprised. The deposit I have in my records is not the same they are saying. Also, from your respond to this Ripoff report shows how unprofessional this apartment is. I am very upset that they are unprofessional and they are good at fabricating the truth. TO ALL RENTERS, BE WARNED! Please check Montecito's yelp reviews as well as other reviews before you rent, or you will be sorry! Like I was. I have never Been so upset and robbed by an apartment complex like this.

I can't wait to receive the change that I will be receiving from Montecito. I'm sure that the unit I lived in has been updated to the fullest from the deposit that you took from me :) I hope this apartment sleep well at night knowing they rob all their tenants!

Also, if you do not want your neighbors throwing broken glass at your dogs when you go to the grocery store, please do not live here. Montecito apartments allowed this,  I complained a few times and it was never resolved. I even told the manager that I was willing to vacate because this was not okay, but of course, they didn't care. They told me I had to pay the fees. What a joke! My bf has photos of broken glass in the patio we lived at. If you love your dogs, spare your spare some drama.

WOW!!

WOW!! Look at you jump around and COMPLETLY DODGE any inference of YOUR DOGS being in the house. Ok so lets break it down. Average work day 8-10 hours. Meaning that YOUR DOGS were in the house between 14-16 hours A DAY!!! Not to include days off. SO the odds are good that your animals DID piss on the floor and that YOUR carpet had to be replaced. THAT is NOT a ripoff, THAT is the costs of having animals in a place YOU RENT!!!! They may have changed the carpets because the new tenant cant be around animal dander. Either way, just admit that your dogs were in the home A LOT and get past it. THIS IS THE COST OF PETS!!!! IF the landlord suspects that the carpet may have been pissed on, then THEY have EVERY RIGHT to take YOUR DEPOSIT and replace the carpets with it. The ONLY WAY to get past this is to GET RID OF THE DOGS!!!! Im sure that is like taking away one of your children so THAT isn't going to happen. BUY don't RENT!!!! When YOU are the landlord YOU get to make these choices. From your own post.....The dogs were never inside the house..........then you say............. My dogs were mostly in the patio unless we were home. You need a consistent story in order for anyone to buy it. So inconsistencies in a story tend to indicate FABRICATION.
